- RyIvan, on 10/07/2008, -4/+34Although Moore tends to exaggerate and say some silly things at times, the man has done alot of good and even if just one person changes there attitude or benefits from one of his films and tries to do something good as a result, doesn't that make it all worth it?
Besides, you have to understand that he does need to drama-up his sequences quite a bit for the American audience, only way most of them will pay any attention. - sjmulder, on 10/07/2008, -1/+18Moore-hating bush-voters on Digg?
- cardyology, on 10/07/2008, -9/+25I think I'm speaking for everybody outside of the US here - stfu FTW.
- thejoker86, on 10/07/2008, -0/+14See i dont know, sooner or later people are going to have to change the modus operande of media, and truth be told documentaries are much lower budget, so therefore he could get away with this and still produce a profit for those who finance him.
- Supergaxx, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10Someone didn't read the article
- wexmajor, on 10/07/2008, -9/+19Because you have to be a Bush-voter to hate Moore, right *****?
- Stormwern, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10Don't think it's a financing problem. Most production companies sell the distributing rights outside NA because they don't have the machinery in place to do it themselves. You need people to write subtitles in all the different languages, some way to ship it and get it into stores etc. The alternative would be to not release it on DVD there at all.
- Myztry, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9If holders want copyright to be a consistently global matter than they'd better start dealing their goods in a globally consistent manner.
If they can't respect the idea of a global competitive free market then the rights extended by various governments should not apply to the holders.
Copyright is not an innate right, and is only one granted by government, in contrast to thousands of years of humanity sharing and building on ideas to become what we are.
There are advantages to both sharing and hording. The later being primarily to the individuals rather than the masses.
And it's the masses that the granters of copyright (government) are meant to be serving... - AmyVernon, on 10/07/2008, -10/+18I think Moore's arguments are interesting, but if he truly believes this, he'll have to start financing his films by himself, instead of depending on others. If he doesn't believe in geographic "rights," then he'd better own all the rights or he's gonna find no one else wants to finance his documentaries.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -10/+18Moore-hating bush-voters commence your bashing.
- yolanda1222, on 10/07/2008, -2/+10usually moore is a very good filmmaker. but this one sucks. it's not worth pirating.
- SissySlapParty, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8Don't sign your name with our country, ok?
Leave your ignorance labeled to you user name alone.
Thanks. - snootywaiter, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9I like moore, but ive seen slacker uprising, and it's basically just him encouraging voting....
...only like 4 years ago. - drewfusb, on 10/07/2008, -3/+9id rather your mom have done you better.
- drewfusb, on 10/07/2008, -4/+10yeah, i think mike thinks with his heart a bit more than with his head, especially in respect to business.
waits for a million snide replies on that sentence.... - VigRoco, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5You understate his amount of exaggeration and clever editing.
- rodrigo74, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5More like Moore-hating-Bush-hating..
Even though I agree with most of the points Moore tries to make, I don't like the way he attacks those points, by using a lot of emotional manipulation, exaggeration and omission. When you start checking the facts you see he leaves a lot of inconvenient facts out to make his points stronger. - sHockz, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5who the ***** signs their post?
- compu73rg33k, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4You voted for Bush twice?
1.) WTF?!?!????
2.) Why would you tell someone that? Be ashamed, not proud. - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3While you may not agree/like with the way Moore makes his films you know that something is wrong when the conservatives pundits label him as "America hater" just because he criticizes America and the system. That is a problem.
- pauldy, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3I registered to vote today just so I could cancel out yours.
- Blacksoth, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3A documentary on copyright, etc. by Michael Moore would be a must watch for me (btw... slacker uprising sucked).
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -4/+7Lets see you do better
- bradhart2, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3What we need to do is get rid of the MPAA and most movie studios will be forced to take a very different look at the kind of movies that are made and how they are distributed.
- ZenMojo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3He had a distributor. The Weinstein's, from whom he bought the domestic rights. The same guys with the international rights, if you read the article.
- SissySlapParty, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3PRODUCTIVE FIVE!
- haydesigner, on 10/07/2008, -1/+4You're speaking for a few of us *in* the US as well.
(and I'm voting for Obama) - secrity, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3He isn't ignoring the business side; I get the distinct impression that he openly disdains and even mocks the business side.
- insomniac8400, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Yea it was. It came across as a tool to brag. A way for him to get credit for what he did in 2004. And a way for him to claim to be the democratic Karl Rove for showing democrats how to campaign.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -2/+4The comment about reading a book then giving it to someone else sums it up great.
- xtmno3, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2This is the reason the general population ruins everything. All you do is parrot and spam, parrot and spam. This is not the place. Quit being a douche.
- SuperVepr308, on 10/07/2008, -3/+5I really liked Roger and Me and thought Moore was something to pay attention to. Over the years, however, I have learned that he is just a Leftist partisan that makes his films based soley on what he believes. No objectivity, no balance, just Moore tricking people into saying what he wants them to. There is no value in that so I find him irrelevant at best and generally annoying.
- Stonekeeper, on 10/07/2008, -2/+4I bet if all who watched his films donated a small amount of cash, he could make plenty more.
- ultraJesus, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3The book analogy doesn't work because when you share a book you give up having your own copy to read. File sharing lets you keep yours and still let others have it.
- ATLien74, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2But you've already read it!
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2This is excellent news... because this is the second time that Moore has done something like this, and pretty soon, no Hollywood business person will want to work with him.
Hollywood may be liberal as hell, but at the end of the day, they're all still there to make a buck, not to give stuff away. - ZenMojo, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2When they start making "balanced" facts, will you start paying attention to those too?
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1exactly. palin with her bigotry is miraculously higher than moore.
- FullClip, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Who the ***** is Michel Moore?? Is he the dude from Family Guy??? ;)
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I caught a turtle and ran over it with a go-kart...stupid turtle.. move bitch, get the ***** out of the way, move bitch, move...
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I know this kid who reallllly likes turtles. I don't like that kid.
- ATLien74, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Get over it.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Reminds me of damn Hulu.com. People link to videos on their site and only people within the USA can see them. No dice if you live in Canada or anywhere else on earth.
- jp2535, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1you fail at being a dick
- rushjaycarr, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1"An American Carol". Watch it and see if you can ever look at Micheal Moore the same way again.
- skinturtle, on 10/07/2008, -2/+3I like the part where he told the ***** that he had military sign-up sheets for them if they loved Bush and the war so much..lol!
"Oh you don't wanna go?...Why Not?"
Perfect! - rushjaycarr, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1"An American Carol". Watch it and see if you can ever look at Micheal Moore the same way again.
- Meocross, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2i wish i could dig you twice
- bluezombie, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Oops ... I left the keys to my car laying right here on the counter as I walk away towards the bathroom without looking back!
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Harry at AICN just posted this mini-review:
"This piece disappointed me at multiple levels. Mainly that it feels slapped together to serve a vain glorious attempt at self-importance. I don’t mind Mike’s persona – when it is serving to tear apart the various piece of establishment that desperately needs ripping apart, but here… It feels a bit like a self-important stroke-fest. Don’t buy this – check it out for free online."
