- Tyrghast, on 06/27/2008, -8/+92Kung Fu Panda was a decent film, but Wall-E is going to make you say "Kung Fu What?"
- IanPatterson, on 06/27/2008, -2/+69The lack of a love story made it better
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -1/+41that was quick
- buckybadger, on 06/27/2008, -8/+45Skidoosh.
- jimmaculate, on 06/26/2008, -7/+40People obviously love pandas. The next one should have the panda team up with the penguins from madagascar. It'd be dynamite.
- zephc, on 06/27/2008, -4/+28"which is good because the first one was awesome." Yes, because sequels are never terrible, and are always a good idea
- buckybadger, on 06/27/2008, -6/+29that's what she said.
- wickensworth, on 06/27/2008, -0/+21I've read your comment 5 times, each time naively hoping it will sound non-retarded
- sauron256, on 06/27/2008, -0/+20The lack of pop-culture references made it more awesome. Shrek was terrible in this regard.
"Look, it's Farbucks! Like Starbucks! Geddit??" - 8ight, on 06/27/2008, -2/+21I work for a school system. I was talking with the librarian at the two grade schools last week about movies our kids are going to watch. She had the audacity to tell me that I was "indoctrinating my kid" for taking him to see Wall-E. I looked at her in disbelief and she said her daughter is excited for the Kung-Fu Panda. I told her that's cool, hope she likes it. Then I told her the history of Wall-E and how it was the Pixar's crew (Joe Ranft included) last movie idea that hasn't been done yet. She called him a Johnny 5 ripoff and that the movie looked stupid. I explained how compelling the plot is and stressed how great that is for a kids movie. She said I was just taking him to go see it because I want to watch it. She's partly right, I do want to watch it... but I don't need to drag my two year old to the movies to go see it either. Damn that conversation pissed me off. Hope she enjoyed her kicking bears. Woohoo. Indoctrinating my kid to the cult of Pixar... ha!
- doggerrel, on 06/27/2008, -2/+18"the first one was awesome"
luckily, there is no charge for being awesome...or attractive - hapax, on 06/27/2008, -0/+16I bet there's a female panda love interest.
- inactive, on 06/27/2008, -0/+14Did you just refer to your mom as your girlfriend?
- inactive, on 06/27/2008, -3/+15Ok, first off, people who hate Kung Fu Panda just because of it's AWEFUL advertising campaign need to chill out. I thought the movie was awesome. If you saw it and hated it, fair enough.
Second, people who are claiming that the positive comments about KFP are actually undercover marketers need to go join the truthers in the conspiracy corner.
Third, don't go and bury comments that say "I liked this movie" if you didn't like it or vice versa, that's just lame. - inactive, on 06/27/2008, -1/+12oh please no
- mannythegreat, on 06/27/2008, -0/+9yep, but it is animated, and these types of movies need time to cook.
- diggapleeeze, on 06/27/2008, -1/+10"Wall-E is going to make you say "Kung Fu What?"
Why does one have to make you forget the other? Can't there be two awesomeness cg movies? - rz8472, on 06/27/2008, -1/+9They should make it free - there is no charge for awesomeness.
- dmacmattack, on 06/27/2008, -0/+8wait you were getting busy with your mom in the theater ............ what the hell man.
- 8ight, on 06/27/2008, -1/+9And another thing... (my edit time limit ran out from my message above)
My in-laws were over for lunch today. They have a 4 year old girl who leads a very sheltered life (her parents doing). They also have a 8 month old. The mother, father, and 4 year old had zero idea what the movie was. My boy had his talking Wall-E shirt on today and they were asking "What is that? I've seen that thing around? What is that from?". Pull your nose out of the collection of your religious books and see what's happening around you. I just sat there and didn't say a word though. I guess I let my frustration out on you all. Joy. - RobbleRobble, on 06/27/2008, -1/+9I stopped after three, then was forced to read it again thanks to your comment. Gah!
- inactive, on 06/27/2008, -0/+8/dies of overwhelming irony
- lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+7Yeah, that was refreshing. A month ago, when I read that Po worked in a noodle shop, I immediately pictured him working in a Panda Express type of place. Luckily, the film avoided pop culture all together.
- ChromaVita, on 06/27/2008, -0/+7Johnny 5 = awesome
Transitive property anyone? - RobbleRobble, on 06/27/2008, -1/+7Yeah, cause the guy saying that Wall-E is going to be better than Kung Fu Panda is totally an undercover Dreamworks employee.
- richmonkey3, on 06/27/2008, -0/+5i initially thought this movie would be awful because of the marketing, but Jack Black totally is that fat panda which made the movie awesome.
- lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+5Yes, all two of them.
- sfacets, on 06/27/2008, -0/+5Well they already have all the 3d models made, all the digital props - all they need is to add the animation and voices. Storyline optional.
- Mist0r_Wiggles, on 06/27/2008, -0/+5thank god someone finally agrees with me on that!!!
- lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+5Part of the Pixar/Disney deal was that Pixar would have creative control over its films. Disney was wise to agree, considering Pixar's bulletproof track record and Disney's pathetic record lately (does anyone even remember 'Chicken Little'?)
- dimonay, on 06/27/2008, -3/+8"Wanna get something to eat?"
"....yes." - Feep, on 06/27/2008, -2/+7There is no charge for awesome.
- cryonix, on 06/27/2008, -0/+52010!? that's cutting it short. since many films by Pixar took several years to finish. sounds like a shovel film, like Shrek 3.
- lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4Pixar can do no wrong. The reason is that they hold the story as sacred, more important than the technical wizardry (although they have that nailed, too).
Kung Fu Panda was great, I loved it, BUT its story was unoriginal, and most of its characters were flat. If Pixar did Kung Fu Panda, we'd know more about Po's history, we'd get to know the Furious Five better, we'd get more time with the villain, a better end confrontation, and Po would end up being more pro-active, as opposed to winning by way of a lot of accidental bungling (ala 'Inspector Gadget'). - bawpcwpn, on 06/27/2008, -4/+8Typical Dreamworks. Business first, people who make good movies second. They need to get their priorities right.
I did like Kung Fu Panda though, but WALL•E will blow it out of the water. - lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4I've worked for several software companies, and some of them would assignment us to log onto forums and rave about the company's products.
- Khanvalescent, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4You are probably a douchebag.
- Malakhii, on 06/27/2008, -4/+8Personally mantis' one liners are what made Kung-fu panda for me.
- Swordman554, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4Oedipus complex much?
- Galaxylander, on 06/27/2008, -0/+4Pandagascar.
- inactive, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3To be frankly, Kungfu Panda also made a success in China.
In the cultural youth’s club, Douban.com, there is one or two film review on Kungfu Panda being recommended as “the hottest” and put on the homepage.
Kungfu Panda is receiving a stream of praise. It is not easy for an English movie accepted by us. The movie contains lots of Chinese traditional elements, but we think they are used properly. Its style just like Jackie Chan’s.
All in all, it is a funny movie that reliefs some people surffering bad mood after the great earthquake in May. We are also looking fowards to the second one. ^_^
P.S. I am a Chinese, my English is poor, please just don't jeer at me. - alecperkins, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Just saw WALL-E tonight. Absolutely fantastic...very much one of those "wow" movies. Groundbreaking as well, I think. All Kung Fu Panda had going for it was an interesting visual style, which wasn't even that unique.
- speakafreaka, on 06/27/2008, -5/+8"Quickly we must cash in now before they loose interest"
- diggapleeeze, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Exactly. i.e. The Godfather pt2
- Khanvalescent, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Doubt it. Zoos feed Pandas oysters and play Barry White and they still won't breed.
- Discobiscuits, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3kill in console
- FurryToaster, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Thanks for giving David Cross more work.
I would like to ask for sequels to Arrested Development in advance. Please. - asdfer, on 06/27/2008, -2/+5Why oh Why?
Dreamworks has not made any decent animated movies. Shrek series are horrible, just collections of one liners. Maybe Dreamworks will be making a CG Animated version of Love Guru. - lharrod, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Po hooks up with that girl bunny that thought he was 'attractive.'
- RunnyBabbit, on 06/27/2008, -0/+3Is that comment coming from "socoolisme" supposed to be ironic?
