- digg it
- Mogwaih, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Don't know if it is better or worse. Time will tell.
- arapro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33I agree, it seems more web 2.0 ... for example the voting system is digg like .... and also seems to be a bit faster ??!?!?!?!?! anyone ?
- jwyles, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Everyone should see this movie (Suicide Club), it goes places you'd never expect and creeps you way out!
- MrSarcasm, on 10/12/2007, -18/+6I prefer the old one. web 0.1 alpha all the way!
- alteratti, on 10/12/2007, -16/+12..finally! something nice and soothing.
nice they came out of the 90's style, they really needed the change. - BobMysterioso, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3I suppose the question is:
Are you connected with yourself? - danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10Hm. Initially, I don't care for it too much. But neither did I care for the new Digg look when it was first released, though now I love it. I'm sure this will be the case as well.
- canti32, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Genesis: "I'm the Charles Manson of the information age!"
Best. Line. Ever. - Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I dunno guys, I preferred the IMDB site search being close to the generic web search on the page. I also don't like that it's somewhere visible instead of in small point font on the left nav frame.
The lack of ugly background colours on so much text is also a huge blow.
/sarcasm
Wayyyy better imdb. - daxsymbiont, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the voting system is the most useful feature of it especially if you look at the individual ratings graph (e.g. some may have disproportionally many hate-votes of 1 and be partly ignored). by having it without numbers, only by stars in a row i fear it may become more unreliable.
i start to think if something wikipedia-like should replace imdb ratings. it's a way too useful resource to be controlled by a corporation. it may seize to exist tomorrow. - haiduz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3I dugg this because I LOVE the movie in the link:
Suicide club is an amazing film that turned me onto japanesse horror. The film starts of with a group of 40 japanesse school girls unexplicably holding hands and all jumping of a platform on the train tracks only to be mowed down by the oncoming train. The film only get darker and weirder from that point on... With a story line more comfusing that donnie darko, this a film is a crazy trip which my only assumption is social commentary on comformism (atthe root of it all is a cachy a pop act performed by little girls).
If you are not easily freaked out by violently strange and strangely violent films (or subtitles) call your blockbuster to see if they have it or add this movie to the top of your netflix queue:
http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=60032265&trkid=134852
or blockbuster queue:
http://www.blockbuster.com/online/catalog/movieDetails?movieId=208729
cause this movie is f***ing good. If you like it, then also check out the films oldboy, sympathy for mr vengeance, and lady vengeance. - Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Guess what? You can use the old design:
http://former.imdb.com/title/tt0312843/ - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5Suicide Club is the reason im digging this. Great movie.
- OneManArmy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2It definitely feels MUCH faster. But I have a feeling there is too much white space!
- darthsuo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I think the white space is due to that the design is still primarily for 1024x768 users. That means for people like me (1600x1200), the ratings are too far on the right, the big yellow buttons look weird hanging there, and there's a huge amount of white space on the right side.
I still love IMDB though. - schurkenstadt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If they make the fonts any smaller I will earn a fortune selling my screen magnifiers.
- kshitijb, on 10/12/2007, -13/+18well aesthetically i find the new one better.
- plugues, on 10/12/2007, -9/+34I found it terrible. Besides being pointless in terms of innovation, there are a lot of empy spaces, and some weird blank columns at the left of credits. It's incredibly unpleasing, aesthetically.
- mattUSA, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Hah, I get a nice black bar across the top of the page right above the IMDB logo... It's a happy byproduct of Firefox's AdBlock Plus. :)
- sldSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They still have the old boards though... If anything, I'd say those need an update.
- Goldspink, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13An update to the name and title pages was a long time coming. This is a big improvement.
- GoodGod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1OH FIIIIINNAAAALLLY!
- deadsenator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2You're right about that. It's easier to read for me. I am seeing more information for the visible portion of tha page that I see at any given time. I like to be able to vote right from the main page as well as seeing my own vote. I still hafta click to see the demographic breakdown, but boo-hoo...I'm over it.
It does load much faster, too. Me likey.
- MrSomeone, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Looks nice. Going to take some time to get used to it though.
- realpolitik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18The buttons at the top are enormous and butt-ugly. And out of all of them, only the message board button is actually useful.
In fact, all the content over-the-fold looks like *****. The ratings bar and the banner ad seem randomly placed. The line-spacing of all the surrounding text is pretty distracting.
The credited cast is indented too far, the Additional Details were better when they were condensed, and the two lines below the message board preview makes it seem like the message board continues farther down the page than it actually does.
I'm not saying IMDb's design was great before (far from it). A change was definitely in order, but what they ended up doing looks terrible. - andreascliment, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Why the heck is the cast list centered?
I don't know if I like the new design or not, I guess I'll have to get used to it.- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Call me persnickety, but it's actually not centered, just indented.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4It's an improvement, but not enough of one. It still needs work in how it organizes all of its information. It still just looks like plain text in tables (which is what it is).
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Urgh. Prefer the old one. The lack of definition/borders between different areas makes it appear cluttered. The tabs at the top are mostly pointless and far, far too big, the text on the left sidebar bar is too small.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Good choice of movie. Suicide Club/Suicide Circle is one entertaining piece of film.
- goldfenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Ok, I don't know what others are seeing, but either the new site design is really bad or Adblock is now screwing up the layout.
- mattUSA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Screwing up? I prefer the term "disinfecting."
- bryan986, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Probably adblock, their ads are under the same directory as some of the other images.
- delusional, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To me, it looks as if its been designed exclusively for an 800x600 screensize.. with little thought to its scalability across larger desktops. At 800x600, The Cast list is more or less centred, and the rating stars dont seem randomly flung to the far edge of the screen.
I turned off adblock to see if it was messing with the page layout - Not really.. Although it does bump the ratings stars further left buy placing a giant square ad in its place.
- quacker912, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Why couldn't you just link it to the homepage?
- madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Or to something helpful, like
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?redesignfaq - BobMysterioso, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Because Suicide Club is a great page to link to.
- japroach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DURRRR
Because the homepage didn't change.
- madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Or to something helpful, like
- straightcash, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Those buttons under the title have got to go...
- nublet, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1dupe and buried.
- staffell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0umm...wow?
- Kadratis, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3w00t! Suicide Circle ftw!
- Trax78, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5What a ***** movie to link us!
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3You've obviously never seen the movie.
- iluvhatemail, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2i have and it wasnt very good.
- SHOVELLit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Who cares?
- RedZeppelin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I don't care what it looks like. I just wish it would quit asking me to log in every third time I click a link.
- macdaddy23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1it changed?
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Anyone else not really notice a difference? I mean at the end of the day it's a site with information, cast lists, and pictures...Oh boy!
- RavenBladeX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Uhhh... yea it's an INTERFACE change, not an INFORMATION change.
- select, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I like it, but they still have a lot of work to do with the rest of the site!
- gostars, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Same info, different layout. Not diggable. Bury.
- MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yet... it's login-able and comment-able... The title said "IMDB Interface Changes" and that's what it is. What more do you want?
Anyways, I noticed the new interface already, as I visit IMDB almost every day. - rbedi100, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You visit IMDB every day?
- MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yet... it's login-able and comment-able... The title said "IMDB Interface Changes" and that's what it is. What more do you want?
- thedez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Great, now i can't find anything. Where are my reading glasses?
- MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I like it. I especially love the actor pages. It's so much cleaner! I think it has a lot to do with using a san-serif font. It just looks nice!
- tristan55555, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Like the voting system, its nice not to have to load a new page to vote and then return to the movie page.
- scooch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What i really would like to see is an API i can play around with! Come on amazon!
- zenubio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Much cleaner interface, could still be a lot better. The ads are pretty intrusive.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah I like it better than the old one.
- Karted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ads? What Ads?
- jpenn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1seems faster to me...
- rbedi100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still don't like the interface and I never have. It is faster, but there is still major, major room for improvement. The yellow color for the top buttons isn't very nice, and overall, with the ads and all, IMDB does not have a great GUI.
- pingsmoth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have seen Suicide Club, and it is pretty messed up, much in the way that the new interface is not.
- robshoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5And yet it's still ugly as hell... god IMDB, get some decent designers so your site doesn't look so... fan-made.
- np374, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It seems more disorganized, with information being more spread out unnecessarily.
- designmonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1pretty. as in pretty ugly.
- SchnuggleMe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Suicide Club is probably not a movie I should have seen when I was 14. As for the new interface... I think it needs borders to separate different sections.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Not sure if I really like it. I keep getting a horizontal scroll bar on some pages when there shouldn't be one. They could have made better choices for the new layout IMO. As for the movie choice, I'm all for Japanese movies but the Suicide club was very messed up especially the rape scene.
- tpv2066, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Renders horribly wrong in Safari!
- matriculated, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At least they've ditched Time Roman!
- Snowcone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't tell a difference and this story links to some whack looking foreign film. A clever ploy to market that movie methinks?
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Suicide Club!!!!!!! Mail Me, if i don't hear from you i will die!!!!
- bigteebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The worst aspects was the "my movies" section where you could list all the movies you had. Horrible interface.
Also was the "lost password" scheme they have where they change the password instead of just emailing it to you. Again, horrible scheme where all other websites got it right. As for why about 60% of all the posts in the forums are "deleted by an administrator"?? You got me.
Overall, I hate the new design. It looks messy. - TheToecutter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3/yawn
Seriously. This ***** makes the front page of digg? I love imdb, but this ain't news boys and girls. - Treoinmypocket, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Who cares? IMDB should worry less about the "image" and more about the content. I stopped even using it because of the inaccuracies and lack of info.
- ibeetle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I stopped using the site ever sense they were bought by Amazon.com.
They now have two goals. 1) To sell as much ad space a possible, and 2) To sell DVD's and movie downloads on Amazon.com
- ibeetle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I stopped using the site ever sense they were bought by Amazon.com.
- Gatorade, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What font is used for the movie titles?
- scooch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Arial or Helvetica if you're on a mac
- ThanaTox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0now, if only they could update their forums. that would be great. the comments, with few exceptions, are threaded and you have to click a new link every time you want to look at the next comment. it's really cumbersome.
- Caleb83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know if you'll ever read this, but you can change that in your profile settings.
- AnotherCanadian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Excellent. IMDB has always felt like a site from 1998. Now if they could only get rid of that god aweful yellow thats everywhere
- beartrash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No sir, I don't like it.
Tons of odd white-space, smaller non serif-fed fonts, huge ugly buttons, less delineation among the different sections and an auto-magically generated list of "Recommendations" at the bottom of the page.
Yuck. - exscind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Suicide Club was kind of a poor example to use for this announcement. That's certainly not a knock against the movie itself; it's just that it doesn't display any cast photos and in this context creates a false impression that the new IMDB format doesn't display photos either. A film with an established ensemble cast would've better communicated the interface.
- Sparhawk2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I really like the shortcuts to each decade on the actors page.
The rest will take some getting used to though. I still try to click on the left of the page to do my searches... - MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3dugg for link to suicide club
- Anagrama, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Wow.. this is some AMAZING news!!!!!!!
