- LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+99I really like Transformers, but I'm more of a First Generation kind of fan. I recognize how the later generations were altered to suit each particular age of kids as time progresses. But this render of Megatron just drew a,
"WTF!" from me.
Is this a Transformers movie or the latest Aliens?? - Qliphah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+97It looks like his transformed state would look like a wadded up ball of tin foil.
- dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -4/+79Probably transforms into a giant robot maid with a vacuum that is set to "suck"
- Dpack1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+66well at least we can now answer this question:
http://www.digg.com/hardware/Hey_Digg_What_is_this_Weird_Metal_Orb
Its obviously a transformed baby megatron. - chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+48 Well he definitely looks "alien" which is exactly what the Transformers are. And he looks very menacing, almost to the point of frightening little kids.
Hopefully they are only showing us his pre-earth form in order to surprise us with his post-earth form in the movie. Will he be a tank? A jet? What terrible item of destruction would this evil character choose to transform into after arriving on earth? A PS3?
Regardless, I have high hopes for this film and will standing in line for the midnight showing on July 3rd. - wookiewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44Worst!
Megatron!
Ever! - BigPapi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36Say it ain't so. If that's Megatron, then Soundwave probably turns into a ***** iPod. Godamn Michael Bay.
- Grishnackh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33And the lord said yea, for he shall be more than meets the eye.
- fieldyflea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Michael Bay just made Baby Jesus cry.
All 6 lbs 8 oz of him. - billybob476, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14At least they didn't replace it with a turban.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Reminds me of that movie Virus.
That's not really a good thing. - lonemarauder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Looks like somebody dropped a cylon into a sink disposer.
- m0nk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Eh, to me, Megatron died in '86 and Galvatron was reborn from the ashes. This is not Megatron...
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10No more nazi helmet? How can we now know on first sight that he's a bad guy who hates freedom, liberty and other nice things?!
Ok, just ignore me. Bad day. =P - smedrick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I challenge anyone to go to that site and honestly tell me Megatron looked cool. All of those designs are ridiculous.
- Steeple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It's over designed, over detailed, a big ball of nothing.
- Dpack1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I wanna know what he transforms into?
Cos that Megatron certainly wont turn into a giant hand cannon looking like that... I mean there's nothing that stands out and says what he'll be in his other form? - d17182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This does not bode well for the question "Will the Transformers movie suck?".
- thlinux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8This is not the worst Megatron ever but it is close. One Megatron transformed into a hand. Very Lame. I think it was in the cartoon Robots in Disguise. I do seriously dislike this Megatron.
- bightchee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6How are they going to make that into an action figure that transforms?
- Aero1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7god i hate michael bay
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"First Look"?? I saw this months ago. No offense, but this is crazy old.
I recall hating this before :)
EDIT: Oh wait, this is the "CGI"...I guess the one I saw was just a drawing. Looked the same, just as *****. Move along. - mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6How can a Michael Bay film NOT be a winner?!?
Oh wait... - DollaDollaBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i understand that designs need to change and that plenty of transformers came after the first gen. But when they give the worst director in Hollywood some 200 million to make a live action transformers movie for the first time don't you think the intelligent choice would be to remain loyal and see if the classics can hold up to the big screen before rewriting the childhood fantasies of the only people who would care to see the movie in the first place? Michael Bay is worthless. A bad business man on top of a ***** movie maker.
i mean its like designing the alien, or the predator to have no likeness to the one that made it so famous. who does it appeal to? WTF is the point? - metalgod79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's Crap!!! The more I see, the more this movie will end up looking like war of the worlds. A total disgrace to the original.
- howski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"(Yes, I know I'm dating myself. :P)"
I've never met a digg user who was dating anything! :P - RandomFerret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If that thing doesn't transform into something totally kickass, I will be very disappointed.
- BigBadger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hah HAH! It looks like pure *****.
I'll watch the TF movie when it hits the 7 day rental shelf at the local Blockbuster.
Oh, and ***** you, Spielberg and Bay. - tortfeasor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am a sad panda.
- hifiDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4To quote someone from a previous digg thread on the Transformers:
"Michael Bay has raped my childhood." - yujie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4He looks like the greatest evil blender of all time. and fugly too.
- drmangrum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5He most certainly had a weakness.
Pride and arrogance. - michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4WEAK! Look at those fingers, they look like they would break off like an old ladies at the first hint of a fist fight.
Also the hands have no motor control machinery. The fingers look like simply pieces of metal attached to each other with no motors, hydraulics, computer components, servo motors etc.
How does he make a fist without a mechanical part to bend his fingers.
I know we are talking about fictional robots that turns into a gun but come on. - michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Has he ever seen Maxilillian from The Black Hole?
- HeyItsJeremy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree with that, I wouldn't want to see an exact G1 Megatron in a live action film, but it would have been nice if they borrowed elements from the G1 Megs... Maybe the shape of his face, his helmet... his side cannon, something to make him recognizable as Megatron, the same way they have borrowed signature elements of the original Optimus Prime for the new film.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I always thought Maximillian was cool...even though he scared the crap out of me as a kid in that movie.
(Yes, I know I'm dating myself. :P) - Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, it looks like they've gone too far to try to give him an organic, skeletal appearance. There are plenty of tranformers, even of the first generation (dinobots, insecticons) based on organic/animal themes. But even they have a far less organic structure than Megatron as pictured here, and at any rate, Megatron isn't one of them, and they shouldn't try to make him one, unless they intend to explain how exactly he came to be something other than his prior self, in the context of the movie.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I wanna know what he transforms into?"
Last I saw from the concept art, he transforms into a really f'd up looking alien jet. - spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"that Megatron certainly wont turn into a giant hand cannon looking like that..."
I don't know how giant that hand cannon was. Whenever Megatron would transform he'd magically shrink down to hand-held size and land in the hand of the guy he was just standing next to.
But yeah, this new Megatron looks idiotic. This movie is going to suck. - Xenocore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WTF!, I betcha he turns into an origami bolder!! Rock-lords anyone!
Micheal Bay needs to take the spliff outta his mouth and remember that his audience isnt just the kids, most of the G1 fans will be checking out the movie. Mainly because this is the first of its kind. (Preemptive shush: I mean live action and not the animated series...)
So far, the only film that Bay as done thats somewhat watchable is the island. Someone get him away from the effects department and tell him to focus on the rest of the movie!
God I hope it doesn't suck. - thirdinmotion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's a pile of scrap metal.
- quentinp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I realize that movies call for a certain redesign, or changes etc to suit the format and all, but I have to say that concept sucks.
- swanny89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I disagree
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/07/17 - chazsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Damn, when did my dad's truck bumper become a Transformer?
- inquebiss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Megatron has lost all character. Megatron is a prideful and arrogant military leader and he should have a refined, sophisticated, and intimidating look. He just looks like some kind of mindless mutated edward scissorhands.
- SuperElvis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Looks like the Guyver
http://www.sdcd.com/B2B/jsp/app/images/Scans/780612.jpg - thelimopit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I, for one, have never seen an old ladies fingers just break off spontaneously because of the threat of a fist fight. I feel I am missing out.
- MysticSavage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@sanman
The voice of Optimus Prime is Peter Cullen. Frank Welker voiced Megatron. - fredkreuger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Jesus, Megatron looks like an *****.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This movie is going to be the biggest piece of crap ever.
They might as well through Uwe Boll in there and kill it for good. -
