- andrewacomb, on 11/18/2007, -0/+23if only Chris Farley was still alive
- krabat, on 11/18/2007, -1/+15This movie is going to suck ***** through a straw backwards.
Is this Justice League High School: The Musical? - physicx, on 11/18/2007, -0/+14Superman selection seems odd, Teresa Palmer is spot on
- inactive, on 11/18/2007, -0/+12Pretty weak casting choices. They're going for n00bs and unknowns because of the large cast, and the cost of hiring the same number of known or established actors would be prohibitively expensive. This is what bedeviled the Trek movies.
They're probably going with Common because they need a black guy in there, you know, token black person. They would not be able to use Bale for Batman, obviously, or .. the guy who last played Superman whose name I forget.. because of their established paychecks. It would cut into the whole production, the effects, everything. The actors probably wouldn't be able to take a cut even if they wanted to, due to union rules or whatever.
That alone speaks volumes for the potential quality of the movie. Either it's going to be chock full of CGI effects with little character development or interaction, which generally doesn't make a great movie, or just generally piss-poor across the board. I'm not aware of who the script is by or the fx company on this, that might give a clue, but in general this looks like it could be a bit shabby. - kevlarbaboon, on 11/18/2007, -0/+12Chris Farley of course.
- slayerab, on 11/18/2007, -1/+12I don't know about parallel batman and superman stories on the big screen within the same decade. Ugh!
- whojaybe, on 11/18/2007, -2/+13boooooo i'm not sure about those choices... also, i heard christian bale was kinda pissed no one approached him to play batman...
- simplistics06, on 11/18/2007, -1/+11doesn't matter who they cast the movie will still be *****.
- kevlarbaboon, on 11/18/2007, -0/+10Hell, I'm kinda pissed no one approached him to play batman.
- MrBogard, on 11/18/2007, -0/+10Wow.. that Superman casting sorta sucks. It will really be a shame if they blow this license. Justice League has the potential to be the ultimate Super Hero movie, and it certainly doesn't look like it's headed in that direction. Are a good script, good actors, and a good director too much to ask for when dealing with such a high profile property?
Still, I hope for the best. - mastercheifIRL, on 11/18/2007, -0/+9I have already lost interest in this film after looking at that cast.. smallville would do it better.
- ChristBehemoth, on 11/18/2007, -3/+11if that's the final cast, this movie is so going down.
- Castellan, on 11/18/2007, -0/+8Ha ha ha, great joke. Now where's the real cast.
- jazzman76063, on 11/18/2007, -2/+10Interesting, I will be looking forward to this movie until I hear first hand that is bad...
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 11/18/2007, -0/+7You mean, like, the original series of comics? I don't know much about them but I'm pretty sure that Wolvie didn't get introduced for a decade or two.
- Kronos6948, on 11/18/2007, -0/+7Wow...they found someone more metrosexual than Brandon Routh to play Superman! They should've went full blown gay and gotten Harvey Fierstein.
- TimoMcD, on 11/18/2007, -0/+5Plus, every movie from then on will have to tie in to this movie. If they face off against Doomsday, then Batman goes to battling Two Face in his own movie, it seems a little anti-climatic. Are they gonna have to throw in lines like "Man, I really could use John Stewart's help right around now" in separate movies? Wont people be a little confused to see Christian Bale in two movies, then some other guy, then Christian Bale again?
Plus the scope seems pretty big. Comic nerds like me know the guys in the JL, but aren't they gonna have to give a quick backstory to every character (outside of Superman and Batman)? Even if they stick to a small cast, that's gonna take half the movie to explain who they are, how they met up, who the Big Bad is, ... Unless the movie is a five hour epic, it'll feel rushed.
Or do they just skip the backgrounds and leave most people confused?
I really hope this is a good movie, but I have a hard time seeing it that way. - Vzylexy, on 11/18/2007, -1/+6Disregard my original comment, my failure to read the actual article is awesome!
- iamsamsamiam, on 11/18/2007, -1/+6Until I hear "Wonder Twins, power activate..." it doesn't count.
- inactive, on 11/18/2007, -3/+7seems like a good movie to watch huh.
- ZenMojo, on 11/18/2007, -3/+7Good Flash, Good Green Lantern, but that's where I'm drawing the line. This movie may just be absolutely horrible, but I'll wait for the reviews.
- Kronos6948, on 11/18/2007, -0/+4I've always pictured him playing a superman-esque part. But, since he's a comedic actor, I think he's been typecast. He was awesome as the Tick. If you get a chance to download that series, I suggest you do it.
- Synn, on 11/18/2007, -0/+4I guess I can understand that after playing Clark Kent for 7 years he's probably tired of it.
However, it would be a better movie choice than the others he has done (The Fog remake, Cheaper By The Dozen 1 and 2). - proliance, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Last month's rumor was that he was approached for the role and turned it down.
- Yage2006, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Well its going to be garbage really bad choices especially for superman.
- bigern75, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3horrible choices!! Going to a total flop!
- bradbaxter, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Why did they pick a boy to play Superman, when obviously the artwork depicts him as a full-bodied man? Elaine's boyfriend from Seinfeld would do much better... (what was his name?)... I think he played Superman in a Seinfeld credit card commercial, didn't he?
- Odweaver, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3Both are too scrawny, if they do decide to have captain marvel though, they should go with Patrick Warburton
- papusman, on 11/18/2007, -0/+3I'm not one to bemoan a movie so early in development, but really? Really? Is it so hard to cast Superman as...well...a man? The older I get the harder it is to take seriously an 8th grader wearing Superman pajamas. By the way, the Justice League animated series *was* a kid's show. It had the potential to be really great, but the writing was just so heavy-handed and melodramatic, I couldn't watch it.
- unfinity, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Catherine Zeta Jones is almost 20 years older than Palmer. She's too old to play Talia opposite Bale, let alone whatever kid they get to play Batman in THIS movie.
- NeoVulcan, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2I'll have to go see it just because I've seen all 5 seasons twice, but it doesn't look like they have any intention of remaining faithful to the subtleties of Justice League Unlimited. I'd rather see them start creating more animated seasons than attempt to make a live movie.....oh well.
- crowbarred, on 11/18/2007, -4/+6JLA with no Hal Jordan? thats like X men with no Wolverine!
- inactive, on 11/18/2007, -1/+3No.
- Vic333, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Exactly. It's going to be like a battle royal. No time to focus on characters at all. I really can't see this movie being good. X-Men worked by pulling back and focusing on 2 or 3 principle characters.
- drizzlelicious, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Thumbs up to Adam Brody as Flash
Scott Porter's neck isn't nearly thick enough to play Superman. Never seen Common act, but he looks OK as a John Stewart - inactive, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Grow up.
- DBDelicious, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2The Superman choice is terrible! I thought Tom Welling was going to put on the tights? What happened?
- phantomex, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2I agree with you 100%. This movie is headed towards mediocre status. Unless they make some changes in the script, actors & director , this movie just won't be epic.
- caboosemoose, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2Its actually quite bizarre, Reeve was 26 when he first played Superman while Routh, Porter and Brody are all 28 at the moment. I swear it must date from around the mid-90s, there has been a serious trend to select for a more youthful look from leading men regardless of the intended age of the part being played. Surely the denouement being Superman Returns, set as a 5 years later sequel to Superman 2 in which the actors chosen for both Superman AND Lois Lane making the characters seem to have become 5 years younger, not 5 years older.
- bat-21, on 11/18/2007, -1/+3WTH? Why does Hollywood keep miscasting actresses in comic book movies? Talia should be played by someone like Catherine Zeta Jones. If they have to have Teresa Palmer in JLA, she should play Black Canary.
- TheKappa, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2The casting isn't sitting right with me, but for what it's worth, the script kicks ass!
- HanSolo69, on 11/18/2007, -0/+2***** a JLA movie without Hal Jordan. With this cast and Talia al Ghul this might as well be a made for TV movie.
- Kronos6948, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1Thank you. A MAN hasn't played Superman since Christopher Reeve.
- doctordbx, on 11/18/2007, -3/+4Justice League of Complete frickin' whimps.
Let's hope the bad guys are a bunch of muppets too, otherwise these guys would ordinarily just get pwned. Super powers or no super powers they're weak as piss. - gregstrander, on 11/18/2007, -1/+2Terrible casting unless the villain will be a wet noodle, these kids can't fill the roles as super heroes. I understand Brody's a geek and all, but just because someone likes comic books, doesn't mean they should be in a movie based on one. Brody's the scrawniest kid I've ever seen, but I'm supposed to think he can run at almost the speed of light? Let's hope come Monday all of this is blown out of the water and there's a REAL cast announced.
- boshuda, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1Is this going to be a comedy? Seriously....
Its like Whos who in "Who auditioned for parts" - Gorrondonuts, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1His name is Patrick Warburton. He's also great in Big Trouble. You should check that movie out too.
- inactive, on 11/19/2007, -0/+1Guess what:
It was also a comic in the '70s not BWs creation. - inactive, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1In the next episode of smallville:
Meet..Doomsday! The death of Pre-Superman,Awesome! - J3553, on 11/18/2007, -0/+1kill myself? wow i'm gonna nominate you for e-thug of the week.
they did very interesting things with batman begins. they didn't just try to make it a good comic book movie, but a good move in general. that's why most people loved it. -
