- blackbeltbones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42Now that's what I'm talkin' bout! Looks awesome!
- arbulus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Because he suits the character. He's an alcohlic, troubled fellow, along the same lines as Tony Stark. That's why Favreau chose him, because he can identify with Stark so well and will be able to truly personify the character
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26If you have to wear armor because of a heart injury, don't light it up to say "hit me here"

- dorxincandeland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Favreau is so money.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16The more I see, the more psyched I get about this film. It's been a while since I've been this optimistic about a comic book adaptation so far in advance of the movie's premiere. Batman Begins was probably the last time.
- empressofmetal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Honestly, my only concern about this movie is Gwyneth Paltrow. I know she's an Oscar winner and all and she was great in Shakespeare in Love, but so far she hasn't proven she can make it work in a superhero movie. If she plays the same monotone "I'll say I'm smart and independent, but you'll end of having to save my damsel-in-distress ass a couple times anyway" supporting actress like she did in that Sky Captain movie, then she's going to ruin Iron Man. Unless her role is super small. We'll see. My fingers are crossed. I think Downey is going to be awesome and I trust Jon Favreau, he's a true fan and isn't one to go over-the-top with CGI.
- Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12because his personality and acting style fit the role. You forget tony stark was a rageing alcoholic. Plus as much as you may not like the guy he is a damn good actor.
- 1Less, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Wow, Stan Winston is doing an amazing job. That really looks great! I cannot wait to see this film.
- MadMaxx426, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Because he's the perfect arrogant rich alcoholic for the roll?

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That is actually one sexy-ass iron robotic suit. When can I get one?
- yaryarhumphump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8anyone missing the fact that its a digital rendering of the suit not the actual costume.....
looks badass as all hell but lets wait to see what it really looks like once they have it made
If they make it look that good then I cant wait.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Holy *****, my jaw literally dropped when I saw that picture, and I didn't think that would ever happen to me, or anyone in real life.
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7WOW, they hit that one dead on. The grey suit looks pretty much identical to the comic as well. Kudos guys.

- duniyadnd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7If Spider-Man can do well with Kirsten Dunst, then I don't foresee any problems if Iron-Man has Gwenyth Paltrow...
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6its an interested/surprised/quizzical emoticon, or that's what I interpret it as.
- Kerath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, because otherwise people would aim for the hands and feet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It makes enough sense; either the setting of the movie would have to be the mid-80s at the latest, or you update the story a bit. The core principles remain the same. It's kind of like Organic Webshooters; it's not 100% faithful to the comic, but for the film it totally works.
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, except this suit is 10x better than the new Spider Man costume turned out to be. Sure, the new Spider Man costume is OK, it works and it isn't terrible, but the new Iron Man suit is just plain awesome.
- pitfallharry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This movie is looking way too good to be real...
- swanny89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Must bring own weapons
- CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Because he's the friggin' man, that's why.
- gentmax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Why not?
- Spideristic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Jon Favreau's message telling fans to check out the new Entertainment Weekly this week and its website was indeed something then. This is on par with the first costume picture of Spider-Man.
- telpethoron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Love the red-and-gold suit - this might turn out to be one of Marvel's better adaptations.
- Haapi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Same tragic flaw .. it took some years for that to show up in the Marvel mags, so maybe in a sequel it will show up, also.
- duniyadnd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8ok... no idea why he's getting dugg down for a link that actually works with the actual image.. there's a bit too much of love for geeksofdoom.com here... :/
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Time travel works for me. Want me to pick one up for you?
- steakfry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Site seems much snappier now.
- Tigrou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Happily dug -- I'm an oldtime comic geek and proud of it!
- Sumyunguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4T-Minus 8,765.81277 hours
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This movie really looks great! The images that have been released look very promising, this suit seriously looks frickin' awesome! Great job by Stan Winston (as if he couldn't pull it off). Props to Marvel for really going all-out on this one, including casting Downey Jr. as Stark. The picture of him that was released recently really got everyone pumped up, great casting decision!
- ZachRetox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks awesome... thumbs-up on RDJr. as Tony Stark.
- eXk0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Aw man, I'm so glad they are sticking as close as possible to the comic book armors.
Very NICE! - Tigrou, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Happily dug -- I'm a geek!
- DeadCousinTed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The suit looks phenomenal. Now all that remains to be seen is if they get the voice right.
I vote Stephen Hawking to dub Iron Man! - Elfman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5He's so money, he doesn't even know he's money.
- CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3boo-urns! Same image blown up doesn't count... we need higher-resolution.
- MadMastaZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very nice, very futuristic looking.
Yay 21st century designs! - Metaridley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Added bonuses: No Clooney. No nipples.
- lilrabbit129, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thats true the damsell-in-distress bit is such a huge part of comic books, especially the classic ones. It takes a really gifted actress to pull it off without looking silly. I absolutely hate Kirsten Dunst, she has one facial expression, the duhhhhh, whats happening look.
- empressofmetal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, Batman Begins did well, even with Katie Holmes, but tell me it wouldn't have been a better experience WITHOUT her?
- Wahoo06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good stuff there. Staying true to the Iron Man lore, but making it look modern at the same time. A good sign for Iron Man.
- Taromsn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Clearly you didn't.
- DrBudro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4another article with the pic....
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20037509,00.html - Stupidumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you guys like the suit design, check out the Iron Man Extremis series. The art is by Adi Granov and it is amazing.
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually yeah, it would have been. If only for the fact that her dumbass signed onto a movie she apparently had no intenion to stay with. Last I read she's dropped out of future batman movies, meaning that if they keep her character it'll be with a different actress. No big deal given the size of her role but it's still annoying when this happens.
