- Axios, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Shiny.
- LaughingMan11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Just some cheesy adventure?
So what *is* sci-fi then? What then makes something like a Star Trek real sci fi? That they fly around in big starships wearing tight jumpsuits?
Personally, Firefly and Serenity's high points were the well developed characters and relationships. Sure the franchise takes place in space, and sure they go on adventures, but when it comes down to it, it's not about the technology, or aliens, or the jolly old adventures. It's about people trying to eek out a living however they can on a hostile frontier... a western, yes. - sandeepg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Freely released torrents. The way forward.
- pyrox420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Nothing yet... keep buying those DVD's and we might get a sequel. :)
- campusten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11We're open to criticism. But why is it a disgrace?
- campusten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Free things mostly come out at night...mostly
- CeeJayDK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"Can't stop the signal"
- tylerterlecki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9for me, it's just a chance to see it before I can buy it. :)
- academician, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It is not sci-fi so much as it is a fantasy western adventure set in space.
- JalenJade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ya know, these guys spent over a YEAR putting together this documentary. If you download and LIKE it you should BUY it as a "Thank you". And "a percentage of the DVD proceeds will be donated to Joss Whedon's favorite charity, Equality Now" So every copy sold helps with the charity as well. There's no reason for anyone to not buy something they like when they have the chance.
(Disclaimer: I've met and spend time with a couple of the guys who worked on this and think they should get as many sales as possible for all the hard work they've done for all the Browncoats out there in making this documentary and all the extras.) - campusten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yeah, and it's the scifi that focuses more on relationships, people, and adventure that engross me the most. To tell you the truth, I don't really enjoy seeing the 'serious' sci-fi shows and books with the standard ohmygodsomethinghasgonewrongwiththecomputer plot :-p
- SourWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://www.legaltorrents.com/about_done_the_impossible.htm
The text file that's included with the download (or viewable there) has the creator's explanation for this free release. The torrent release is the full documentary (but in a lower quality), and the DVD coming out will have a bunch of extras too. - afeitarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Plus, I'd rather have a cheesy adventure in space with attractice actors than a stoic exploration of space technologies starring Nick Nolte and Star Jones.
- innerspirit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8anything firefly = digg
gotta support the browncoats, firefly rocks - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yes! I shall play this DVD and I shall call it...this DVD!
- WarMace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If you paid for it then you must of gotten nice packaging to go along with the other DVDs. To me this is like Dilbert free online, but the real fans can pay for the hard copy.
- WarMace, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Because I adored the TV series and was greatly saddened by its premature ending. I shall seed this for a couple days to spread the word of one of the greatest TV series that didn't get the chance it deserved.
- loveandrockets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I reckon truer words were never spoken in this 'verse.
- ngageguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"The Signal goes everywhere and I am everywhere."
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hey, anyone got a link for the full version? I KEED! I KEED!
I'll definitely shell out the bucks to help out Firefly! - tinktanker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I pre-ordered mine back in September the week this was announced. It should be in the mail shortly if it isn't already. For all the extras and bonuses and all I'll be getting, the money spent is well worth it. The actual documentary itself is only a small part of the overall package, and the packaging itself is worth it. I'll enjoy this until my set arrives.
Everybody, even you falafalboy, download and enjoy this. Then buy the DVD set from www.donetheimpossible.com ; it is worth every penny you will spend, plus it is for charity. - TheOtherGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Mainly because it isn't Sci-Fi per se, just some cheesy adventure with attractive actors."
You HAVE seen Star Wars havent you? - newbietheatre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2'My food is problematic!' - I always liked that one. I remember reading about this last year but hadn't looked into it since. I might check out the torrent but I would definitely prefer to have the real thing. I'm off to see about getting it shipped to Australia.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's a good sentiment. I've already pre-ordered it. Quite frankly, I'd rather just wait. Firefly was just THAT damn good, that I'm willing to throw more of my money at it and avoid the free version.
There's not many things I can say that about. - techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Holy cow, I'm buying this the second I can. I can't wait to sit for hours in front of my TV so I can watch this.
Me = has no life - Attu012, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Free is always a good thing, well almost always.
- nrayko, on 05/01/2008, -1/+2I figure you can watch the documentary until your DVD comes. I just bought it today after grabbing the .torrent so when the DVD comes I can rip a better quality for myself. Until then, I got something to enjoy.
- jaysedai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1djAnakin... I'm sorry you're disappointed with our decision to do a preemptive strike on P2P. I understand your frustration, but it was just that a preemptive strike. If we hadn't released it day and date with the DVDs being available at Comic Con, sombody else would have, and we would not have had as much control over the content. I'm also surprised at your opionon of the menus. We've received dozens of comments both in person and online about how impress they were with the menus and functionality of the DVD. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder (which has obviously be proven on MySpace... blech.)

www.DoneTheImpossible.com - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Any news on if they are bringing Firefly back?
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's a great way to work up people over it for no cost of distribution. if you liked it enough that you would have bought it anyway, you feel good about getting it, if not maybe you will next time, and now you at least might tell someone about it that wouldn't have heard of it, or given it a second thought. I've turned several people onto firefly, and i never even saw it while it was still on the air. if i hadn't been able to torrent it to make sure it wasn't some cheesy space cowboy POS i sure as hell wouldn't have bought it. all the same with BSG, didn't see the original miniseries, but started watching after i torrented it
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gorram, beat me to it.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it really did get the short end of the stick, we've seen fox do this to many shows. yet somehow they still refuse to let the simpsons die after their material is drier than death valley and they're in their 23rd season...
- djAnakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is *****. What about those of us that actually paid for it.. and are still waiting for our copy?! I wouldn't mind this so much if they had waited a few weeks to make the torrent. Why did I even bother buying it?
Either way, I know i'm going to be disappointed of some stuff [based on the caps of the menu's. They look poorly done]. - carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yep, the news is that they're not. the story is more less completed, as they've mentioned before about the series, with serinity being more to clean up the story and finish it than to run up to another series. i'm sorry.
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice, wonder when my dvd version will be here
- zc_au, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good move to get people to buy the dvd
;) .. we all love getting bonuses stuff with what we buy
now i gotta got the tv show
Good movie :) DIg dig diggg - indy500fan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2At first glance at the headline I was a little mad, since I pre-ordered this a month or two ago, and now it is out for free. But from reading the comments it sounds like I still will get a little extra for my money, so it will be worth it.
And I often buy the movies I download anyways. - Zaphrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I watched the series from newsgroup downloads then bought it and now I have bought this documentary before having the chance to see it, I don't even care if the documentary sucks because firefly was so fantastic.
- STKD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Shiny. Unless of course you're one of the ones who payed for something people are now about to get for free and are feeling slightly resentful of the fact.
But hey... - mydave, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0sweet. great doc.

www.toyotaemployeepricing.com - ScurvyWizard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is really cool that they put it together and are giving it out for free.
But some of the people in that trailer make me embarrassed to be a fan of Firefly. - shogunu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Well Star Wars isn't a lot better either, but it is better.
Serenity reminds me of Cleopatra 2525 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2awesome
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Serenity/Firefly? OMG yaaaaaaaaawn
- jggr, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Doubtful.... I do believe that's one of the reasons Josh Whedon killed a few of the characters in "Serenity".... But that's all heresy...
I do believe that there will be a series of cartoons coming out voiced by the characters on the show, but I have no proof to back this claim up, so digg me down if I'm mistaken. - shogunu, on 10/12/2007, -22/+3Mainly because it isn't Sci-Fi per se, just some cheesy adventure with attractive actors.
- shogunu, on 10/12/2007, -31/+3Serenity is a disgrace to the Sci-Fi genre.
Now digg me down.
