shadowplaystudio.com — Video of the awesome Shadowplay's opening title sequence for Juno.
- 902 diggs
- digg it
- MrBabyMan, on 01/02/2008, -13/+69A very creative opening to one of the best films of 2007.
- markwilcox, on 01/02/2008, -12/+3Not very original though, there's a lot of films and TV shows using this hand-drawn look these days.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Song:

- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Song:
- anotherjeff, on 01/02/2008, -7/+1Right on, Mr. BabyMan!
- echolalia, on 01/02/2008, -0/+5Anyone else hear a vacuum?
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Normal digger makes a valueless comment: Buried.
MrBabyMan makes a valueless comment: Dugg up through the roof!
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -7/+2I thought the intro was a cheap ploy for Wes Anderson fans. The intro made me want to walk out, but I'm glad I didn't. Great geek date movie.
- anselm83, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3You mean cheap ploy for Richard Linklater fans?
- STARTSOMETHING, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3I would like to see it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0SKf0K3bxg - awhiteflame, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Here here. It was a great movie.
- markwilcox, on 01/02/2008, -12/+3Not very original though, there's a lot of films and TV shows using this hand-drawn look these days.
- bamafun, on 01/02/2008, -16/+12very creative i agree... artistically, but the song was not my favorite.....
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 01/02/2008, -3/+9The song is better than the video.
- evilada, on 01/02/2008, -2/+11I believe the term you are looking for is "combined live action with rotoscope animation" :)
The lower frame rate of her walking bothered me a bit, since most of the sequence was so smooth, but on the whole it was an entertaining and flowing sequence- ronk, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2The lower frame rate is probably because they only need to hand draw lesser number of frames.
- Wugie, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Done on purpose I'm sure
- BuzzDiggity, on 01/02/2008, -14/+5Sure, it was a "creative" opening... If you define creativity by being a little different... But I question whether it was in alignment with the rest of the film... And I'm not talking about the visual element... Tonally, rather
- lintmonkey, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5I think it sets the tone perfectly.
- schind, on 01/02/2008, -1/+8Did you even see the movie? You're trying to sound astute, but without any merit to your response, you just look dumb.
PS - Ellipses ("...") have their place, and it's not here.
- jackcrack7, on 01/02/2008, -5/+3I thought it was really cool how they did it. I loved the movie and while the intro was playing I could tell that it was going to be good. I actually enjoyed the song too.
- Superperson, on 01/02/2008, -6/+13If you love this opening, go see the movie. It's just as creative and awesome as this.
- DickyT83, on 01/02/2008, -6/+36"Hmm, we got OJ..purple stuff.....SUNNY D!"
- hlcno, on 01/02/2008, -2/+27black kid in the back "...i want that purple stuffff.."
- Mononuclear, on 01/02/2008, -3/+4it's called purple drink!!
- phickler, on 01/02/2008, -0/+13Nope, it's called purple drank.
- DickyT83, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5It's made of water..and purple.
- adamchristopher, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2you mean sugar, water, and of course, purple
- Mononuclear, on 01/02/2008, -3/+4it's called purple drink!!
- 1800collect, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Ah plenty of videos:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=VNaaSj7GJww- atomofconsumpti, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1yes sir, good job.
- BlueStarr, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1"I want the purple stuff baby".
- hlcno, on 01/02/2008, -2/+27black kid in the back "...i want that purple stuffff.."
- sdubois92, on 01/02/2008, -6/+17Is there a torrent available yet?
- schind, on 01/02/2008, -1/+8Nope, I wish there was.
- D3koy, on 01/02/2008, -2/+9No, and it's not in theaters where I live :(
- thephosphorbox, on 01/02/2008, -7/+41Jeez support the good movies for a change. Cheap bastards.
- anselm83, on 01/02/2008, -5/+2Personally, I spend way more at theaters, on rentals, and on DVDs now that I use torrents daily. YMMV but don't make a hasty generalization.
- davidhildreth, on 01/02/2008, -3/+20Go see it in the theaters you SOB.
- CiXeL, on 01/02/2008, -4/+5i love it when people paid to create movie buzz on digg get pissed off when someone suggests downloading it from a torrent.
- halobender, on 01/02/2008, -5/+14People use that cheap bastard reasoning pretty often. You know if not for torrents I just would watch a fraction of the movies I watch now including Juno. If there isn't a torrent I'll probably never see it, I just don't care. They are not losing money from me as they wouldn't get it in the first place.
- jthei, on 01/02/2008, -6/+14That's cuz your ass won't fit in a theater seat.
- Smalldude76, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1you'd rarely hear this from me, but this is one of the few movies actually worth going to see in theatres.
- Doomsan, on 01/02/2008, -3/+20Fox Searchlight movies are great.
- billymonster, on 01/03/2008, -4/+2if by great, you mean all the same sarcastic pretentious fluff, than yeah.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11Rainn Wilson was awesome in the beginning.
- DickyT83, on 01/02/2008, -0/+22Question, when isn't he awesome?
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4 touché
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -1/+10Answer, bears.
- Superperson, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5False. Black bear.
- rspeed, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Bun in the oven? - jthei, on 01/02/2008, -1/+10"That's one doodle that can't be undid, homeskillet."
- DickyT83, on 01/02/2008, -0/+22Question, when isn't he awesome?
- jjpertusch, on 01/02/2008, -12/+6i thought the intro was unnecessary. it felt like they just got a new filter for a video editing program and wanted to find an excuse to use it. (yes, i understand it took more than that)
- DiscoLando, on 01/02/2008, -4/+11I used to love their free email.
- halobender, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3LOL
- anselm83, on 01/02/2008, -0/+5Damn kids these days don't even remember Juno and won't get off my lawn.
- bscene, on 01/02/2008, -6/+49the intro is okay... the movie however, is one of the best of 2007. Ellen Page is going to be huge
- pjack91, on 01/02/2008, -2/+23She's not pregnant in real life, you know.
- centran, on 01/02/2008, -3/+7she hasn't meet me yet!
- rspeed, on 01/02/2008, -6/+1She's already huge... IN MY PANTS!
Oh, wait… that's not her. - daedalous, on 01/06/2008, -0/+1Agreed. Absolutely brilliant performance.. she can ACT!
- pjack91, on 01/02/2008, -2/+23She's not pregnant in real life, you know.
- cdg52, on 01/02/2008, -10/+7Torrent?
- ShadySpace, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3If you want to see National Treasure 2 in HD, no problem. One of the best films of the year? I've tried every torrent out there, all junk. I have no idea why there isn't at the very least a CAM release when it's been out for over a month.
- mrfunktastic, on 01/03/2008, -1/+1Why not simply spend a few bucks to go see "one of the best films of the year" in the theater? I suggest that supports your opinion of the film, and plus, you get to go outside. Maybe even with a girl.
- lintmonkey, on 01/02/2008, -8/+46"This ain't no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be undid, homeskillet."
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -8/+3Are you quoting the trailer because you haven't seen the movie? There are way better lines than that.
- amadeusdemarzi, on 01/02/2008, -1/+4i have seen the movie and that is definitely one of my favorites.
- billymonster, on 01/03/2008, -4/+1most of the really funny parts are in the previews.
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -8/+3Are you quoting the trailer because you haven't seen the movie? There are way better lines than that.
- jknation, on 01/02/2008, -7/+1intro was very sweet like candy to my soul
- customer, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3I loved this movie! Was definitely one of the best of the year.
- flawedprefect, on 01/02/2008, -2/+5what's the title of the song? I for one liked it.
- jackcrack7, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6It was "All I Want Is You" by Barry Louis Polisar
- iamapostle, on 01/02/2008, -8/+3it looks like an animated threadless t-shirt...
hipster doofuses..
the movie is phenomenal, though..- tpalshadow, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1what song is that?
- jackcrack7, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2"All I Want Is You" by Barry Louis Polisar
- tpalshadow, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1what song is that?
- rq60, on 01/02/2008, -14/+4quicktime? no thank you
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -7/+3LIKE OMFG I AM SO SWEET I REFUSE TO WATCH THIS BECAUSE OF ITS FORMAT. IM 1337 AND QUICKTIME IS FOR NOOBZORS! ROFLLLLLLLLCOPTER!!1!!
You're a whiny bitch. Go die alone. - dreesemonkey, on 01/04/2008, -2/+1I'm with you. I refuse to download 60M worth of a media player to watch movies. Sounds like an emo-fag-bitch-itunes-commercial movie anyway. SOoooo indie, yo!
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -7/+3LIKE OMFG I AM SO SWEET I REFUSE TO WATCH THIS BECAUSE OF ITS FORMAT. IM 1337 AND QUICKTIME IS FOR NOOBZORS! ROFLLLLLLLLCOPTER!!1!!
- mclev, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1Very cool. It reminds me of Michael Gondry's (sp?) works, for some reason.
- jthei, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1There was a michael gondry trailer before the flick, 'be kind, rewind' with jack black.
- anselm83, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3Michel wants to bitchslap you.
- leerayIG88, on 01/02/2008, -16/+2Is the that person Chinese? Japanese? Korean? meh..They all look the same.
- Taciturn, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7She's white, and you're a *****.
- leerayIG88, on 01/02/2008, -9/+1What are you gonna do about it? Go hang yourself, nobody cares who you are.
- Taciturn, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7She's white, and you're a *****.
- jkremer3, on 01/02/2008, -2/+5Dugg for a good movie with a great story to tell.

http://www.shadowplaystudio.com/_qt/juno.mov - dgreichert, on 01/02/2008, -16/+9Horrible movie that timed its release perfectly to capitalize off of Cera's success in Superbad, only to make it a teen-chick flick. No one can say that it would have done as well opening weekend if it wasn't for Cera's newfound status from Superbad.
- bradbeattie, on 01/02/2008, -3/+17http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/juno/ : 100% rating from the top reviewers. 'Course, the random digg user might know more about movies that Ebert. Oh, and Cera was popular before Superbad. See Arrested Development if you haven't already.
- darkstar2002c, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Awesome... just awesome
- rurounikengyrl, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2i second that. AD should NOT have been cancelled.
- jackcrack7, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2I went and saw it because I was a fan of Arrested Development. I ended up liking the movie for completely different reasons. The story was well written and the movie was really funny.
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3Woot for Arrested Development. Jason Bateman was in AD and Juno also, not just Cera
- Wugie, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5And Michael Cera was put into Superbad because of his awesome job in Arrested Development. Who gives a *****? They were both good movies. 20 bucks you didn't even see it.

- MsGo, on 01/02/2008, -11/+6Great beginning to a pretentious, but decent flick.
It really is not that good...Though, J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney were great in it. - exomni, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2Personally I thought this was the worst part of the film.
Loved the rest, though, so that's not saying much.- t86y, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Shh don't say that... you and I will now get dugg down.
- RubberbandLN6, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1I have to say the first 15-20 minutes including this part (as creative and great as it may be) had that terrible obnoxious, pretentious indie vibe encapsulating it, the phone call between Juno and Leah at the beginning was just unbearably, cringe inducing hip, but after it takes to find it's groove and get out of it's own way, it becomes truly great.
- eld4nt3, on 01/03/2008, -0/+2Yeah, I thought I was ***** stupid too. When I saw the movie for the second time, it was probably the hardest part to sit through.
- t86y, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Shh don't say that... you and I will now get dugg down.
- darkstar2002c, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2That was great. Fun to see new, cutting edge design in film intros.
Reminded me somewhat of "A Scanner Darkly" but in its own way.
I haven't seen the entire movie, but plan to. - DeepFriedFetus, on 01/02/2008, -3/+10God, was that a great movie. ***** awesome. And Ellen Page is, for lack of a better word, hot. Go Juno
- e36wheelman, on 01/02/2008, -6/+2You think Ellen Page is hot? She has a homely face at best and the body of a 9 year old boy. Good actress, not hot. She'll be a great indie actress in the next few years.
- xburgermoo, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3sometimes opening title sequence is better that the movie itself. Here is a good collection other good titles http://yuxt.com/artist/Best_Title_Sequence
- BoardColorado, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3The soundtrack to Juno is great as well, check it out.
- billymonster, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1no its the same garden state, napoleon dynamyte, i huckabees, thumbsucker, me you and everyone we know, wristcutters, little miss sunshine fake indie ***** fox searchlight has been feeding us for years.
- MrMongoose, on 01/03/2008, -0/+0Is 'fake indie' even possible? I've heard 'real indie' music that was 10x worse than what was in Juno.
- billymonster, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1no its the same garden state, napoleon dynamyte, i huckabees, thumbsucker, me you and everyone we know, wristcutters, little miss sunshine fake indie ***** fox searchlight has been feeding us for years.
- marine63, on 01/02/2008, -6/+0jenny, juno ftw
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny%2C_Juno- rkho, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3It has no relation to Diablo Cody's script. In fact, "Juno" was written before "Jenny, Juno" even came out.
Research ftw.
- rkho, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3It has no relation to Diablo Cody's script. In fact, "Juno" was written before "Jenny, Juno" even came out.
- geniusNOTatWORK, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2I so desperately want to see this BUT I'm watching the movie tomorrow and I don't want to ruin the intro for myself
- dontswimtoshore, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3funny, they also did the sick intro for Thank You for Smoking, another Jason Reitman film. check those out too.
http://www.shadowplaystudio.com/smoking.html - Krispy, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1if you are from Minneapolis, as I am you will notice the many subtle references to the state of Minnesota that makes this movie extra hilarious. if you have never lived here, you miss out, sorry!
i love Diablo Cody - duva, on 01/02/2008, -2/+3Thundercats are a go!
- lorductape, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2dugg for being unique: unlike every action movie this year, nothing exploded, and it was still good.
- camiloteram, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2Indie as *****. well, not anymore, now that it's mainstream.
- shultzy055, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2okokok, I'll just disclaimer this by saying I did like the movie, HOWEVER
this movie is almost too witty for it's own good. the dialog? no one talks like that in the real world, and many of the situations are just too contrived to be believable. Plus, Rainn was great, but he only had what? 3 lines? and they were all shown in the trailers.
I'll give the movie credit for being a wide release "indie" movie, but don't hit people in the face with it next time. Luckily it came around on me at the end, plus a few good songs here and there. - pmcizhere, on 01/03/2008, -0/+0Cool intro, she's cute too, goes with the song.
- adraft, on 01/03/2008, -5/+4I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, Juno SUCKED!!! They tried so hard to use slang and it came off as annoying and unwanted. Plus the jokes were all mediocre at best and as a friend put it best a "Well that was.....indie." This movie reminded me of kids who change styles every week to try and fit in but only end up pointing out how out of touch they are. I don't know how any writer/director could go wrong with Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, and J.K. Simmons on the cast. And this intro is nothing new or creative, not to mention the fact that it seems to go on for like 30 ***** minutes. Buried to hell.
- DoubleyouTeeEff, on 01/03/2008, -1/+1"Thanks mom, your cactus gram stings more than your abandonment"
- jdandrea, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1The opening credits did not employ rotoscoping, but a "bad Xerox machine" instead (possible misuse of XEROX notwithstanding): http://asap.ap.org/stories/1726717.s
- KireGoTI, on 01/03/2008, -1/+1Probably already said, but... this is a great movie. Go see it. You'll like it. Especially if you like this video.
- BlueStarr, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3You should check for a movie called Hard Candy also by Ellen Page.....shivers down my back. Very good movie.
- BlueStarr, on 01/03/2008, -0/+2Ellen with a nice set of abs.
http://www.smh.com.au/news/film-reviews/hard-candy ... - knoxfilms, on 01/03/2008, -0/+0Great movie and a wonderful opening title sequence. I actually named my new puppy Juno!
- wtfomg, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1Absolutely loved this movie, best date movie I've been on a date while seeing, and one of the best movies of the year.
The opening, though, kind of put me off. From this intro that was alright but not particularly well done (not poorly done, but nothing amazing in it) and the barrage of awkward dialogue between Juno and Hilarious Cameo Store Clerk. I can buy two 16 year old girls talking to each other in weird awkward slang, or Juno making comments to people in it, but their conversation was off putting. - mikexr, on 01/03/2008, -0/+1double post, apologies.
- eyevee, on 01/15/2008, -0/+0i LOVED the movie and the soundtrack and intro and omg yes.
