- jasonrest, on 10/04/2008, -3/+148I don't know how they're going to top "The Dark Knight" but..... Good Luck!
- jschau2, on 10/04/2008, -2/+106I can't imagine that Christopher Nolan would let someone else direct the next installment in a project so dear to his heart. And we know there's gonna be a Batman 3 no matter what. Can't wait for some more Gary Oldman sightings around Chicago!
- anagoge, on 10/05/2008, -7/+89Wouldn't that be crazy? If his death was actually a publicity stunt for The Dark Knight? Can you imagine..."Coming 2009...Batman 3. Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman & Heath Ledger". How much would you ***** yourself?
- TheWebSwinger, on 10/04/2008, -0/+66I believe in Harvey Dent.
- P1um, on 10/04/2008, -9/+75Please don't die Johnny Depp

- RandomEyes, on 10/04/2008, -2/+55he's dead, that rumor is squashed
- VdgX, on 10/05/2008, -2/+50No matter how good this movie is. No matter how utterly mind blowingly awesome... People are still going to say it's not as good as The Dark Knight, because Heath's not in it. Which depresses me.
- nakile, on 10/05/2008, -1/+44This isn't a Tim Burton movie...
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -20/+62After seeing The Dark Knight, I'm really excited for Heath Ledgers future performances. Hopefully they sign him on as the Joker again!
- Muramasa007, on 10/04/2008, -3/+44I have faith in Nolan.
- CoreyTamas, on 10/05/2008, -0/+39Something that annoys me: The arrticle says "Christopher Nolan Signed For Batman 3?" and the Digg story is reported "Christopher Nolan Now Signed to Direct Batman 3!"
The difference between a question mark and an exclamation mark, in this case, is a big one. - korbandallas, on 10/04/2008, -4/+42Go-kart midgets.

- anagoge, on 10/04/2008, -7/+43I really hope he doesn't. He's too big of a star for Batman. I think Depp is a great actor, but not for Batman.

- edicius, on 10/05/2008, -2/+27You should watch The Dark Knight, it was pretty good.
- Coultrain, on 12/25/2008, -3/+27Oh my bad, I didn't know that they officially killed him off.
- Merp08, on 10/05/2008, -0/+22That's just ***** up man....
I lol'd though. - ShadySpace, on 10/05/2008, -1/+22This comment just made me realize that Batman doesn't have a single black villain. Guess he's the only one allowed to be dark in Gotham.
- Rikushix, on 10/04/2008, -5/+25Wow, I'm excited. What a good movie the Dark Knight was, hopefully Nolan (one of my favorite directors, considering my affection for a little movie called "Memento") can pull it off again.
- Acidictadpole, on 10/05/2008, -3/+22Wait. What?
- inactive, on 10/04/2008, -26/+44Hopefully Johnny Depp signs on as well.
- machocheese34, on 10/05/2008, -3/+20i bet you do
- Gerz1219, on 10/05/2008, -0/+16The next one can't be better. Franchise movies are always better when the heroes are digging themselves into a hole. When they're trying to dig themselves out, the characters become less interesting and the resolution is invariably anticlimactic. It's fun to watch a Batman movie that ends with Batman morally compromised and despised by the entire city, just like it's fun to watch Han Solo get encased in carbonite, or see Michael Corleone become so corrupted that he has his brother killed. These conflicts never get resolved in a way that's satisfying to the audience.
It's inevitable that Nolan will have to commit some major narrative cheats in order to get Gotham to trust Batman again, and that would have occurred even if Nolan hadn't already lost Ledger's Joker and run out of credible villains in the rogue's gallery. Nolan still has a bright career ahead of him, so they should just leave the resolution of this story to our imagination. - arashamedani, on 10/05/2008, -10/+26Johnny Depp as the Riddler would be ***** awesome!

Spread my wings and fly away - jellygraph, on 10/05/2008, -1/+14He deserves it. He turned Batman from a cheap joke into something with depth. Now, if only they could do the same for Spiderman....
- TheWriteGuy, on 10/05/2008, -2/+15My money is on the Black Mask being the main villain. Why? I speculate that the Nolan bros. want to put their mark on bringing over a popular villain from the comics who has yet to appear in any of the movies. For The Dark Knight, they re-introduced Joker and Two-Face, but for their third Batman, I think they'll go back to what they did with Begins, which was to introduce villains who at the time had not appeared in the movies.
Also, the Black Mask would fit into the mythos that Nolan has established in his two movies: Now the Gotham mobsters would have their own "masked freak" leading them. Plus, there would be the added gimmick: Who is the Black Mask?
As for the Joker, he should at least make a cameo, while locked up in Arkham. Get Paul Bettany -- he was up for the part, but Ledger won. But Bettany would probably be very good giving a different take on teh character -- he already physically looks like the Joker from the comics. - pairadocs, on 10/05/2008, -1/+14Why do they keep calling it a sequel to the Dark Knight? The Dark Knight is a sequel to Batman Begins... this would be the third in the trilogy...
- Callidus, on 10/05/2008, -1/+14You are so cool.
- Frophauser, on 10/05/2008, -4/+17Phillip Seymore Hoffman as the Penguin?
- RaulMuadDib, on 10/05/2008, -1/+14I see me running through that open door
- UserNull, on 10/05/2008, -1/+14...why so serious?
- damack, on 10/05/2008, -0/+13Thats my only concern I thought Nolan wouldn't be able to top Batman Begins but he really blew the doors off with The Dark Knight. I don't think he's going to be able to top the masterpiece that movie just had it all and Heath Ledgers genius was what stole the show.
After The Dark Knight though I refuse to doubt Nolan the man is going to deliver but god what a high standard he has set for himself, the pressure must be immense it's like Ridley Scott making a sequel to Bladerunner, the death threats would fly in by the hour. - pdavda, on 10/05/2008, -4/+17I believe I can touch the sky
