- AshamedAmerican, on 05/14/2008, -1/+24But Beast doesn't have a tail.....Nightcrawler does.
Also, if this is a "young" Beast, then he wouldn't be blue or covered in fur, he would simply be a large man, but otherwise human looking. He looked fine in X2, so to set anything before then and give him his classic blue look will be a continuity ***** up. - reed311, on 05/14/2008, -1/+27CS/SHH: Who would you like to see play the young Magneto?
McKellen: I'll be playing the part. [laughter] I don't know if it's in the press notes, but the first time that Patrick Stewart and I appear in [X-Men: The Last Stand], we appear to be 25 years younger than we are. That's been done by a technology never used in film before, which involves no makeup, no special effects whatsoever. We just go into the studio and do the scene as is, and then they morph our faces on to photographs of ourselves 25 years ago. Lo and behold, there we are. They can take any shaped person and they can slim you down, they can build you up, they can bring out your shoulders, change the style and color of your hair. Remove every wrinkle. They removed so many wrinkles from my face, I looked so young that [X-Men director] Brett Ratner said, "You've got to put a few wrinkles back. It's looking ridiculous." It would mean that I could play myself at 25, feasibly, as long as I can keep myself lithe and sounding young. I mean, that's the big story of this movie is once the stars realize that they don't have to have facelifts anymore, at least as far as their work is concerned, Meryl [Streep] and I can go on playing Romeo and Juliet for the next 20 or 30 years. It's astonishing. It's like airbrushing, but for the moving picture - elamr, on 05/14/2008, -1/+24MAN, I hope this doesn't suck.
- rlray216, on 05/14/2008, -2/+25I guess it's too much to hope that Kelsey Grammar will be reprising his role. He's probably too old for the prequel.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -4/+24Beast was Kelsey Grammar???
- rafor, on 05/14/2008, -1/+16I wonder what actor they will have play Magneto. Since it is a prequel they will need someone younger.
Plus, I would hate to be the guy stuck in a Beast costume. If you think being under the lights is bad, try doing a scene under lights AND 40lbs of makeup and rubber - cerealjynx, on 05/14/2008, -1/+13Young Beast was not a blue furred scientist guy. He was a big boned scientist guy with the physique of a gorilla and large feet.
(Also, I know he says that's not the pic in question, but the snapshot at the botton is a loading screen from XMen Legends 2) - kashk5, on 05/14/2008, -1/+11You mean Kelsey Grammar was Beast
- TheRub, on 05/14/2008, -2/+11Sweet!
- INDOAZZ, on 05/14/2008, -3/+13We Want Gambit!
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -2/+11Looks like Beastcrawler to me...
- vtobar, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10Well the only thing scary here is the David Goyer is directing and he sucks as a director (BLADE 3) but he is an awesome writer, hence why I love Batman Begins.
- sirmcdiznuts, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I agree, David Goyer is bad, man Blade 3 was caca. Awesome screenwriter. Lets hope he has learned his lesson with his previous bomb movies.
- punkcat, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4Hey baby I hear the blues a'callin'
Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs - WanderingGuru, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4What was that interview from? What is the process called or technique called? I'm curious now.
- RoadDoggFL, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/12/7/
- xOKxWhy, on 05/14/2008, -3/+8He was the best thing about X-Men 3
- malechite, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4Hes in the Wolverine Movie
- robthom, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4Bast is awesome. But I heard it might be nitcrawler though.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3"the writers and directors are huge morons"
If you saw X3 you already knew that. - GUTTS, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3I actually agree with mikefallopian. XM3 sucked major donkey balls. In fact it sucked magnetos old shrivaled veiny balls. I mean Wolverine able to withstand the full force of the Phoenix? lmao! A pile of ***** it was.
- RussellDovey, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3It's funny watching Ian McKellen's dry humour whooshing straight over people's heads...
- pooroldluser, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4Actually, I thought the first two movies were genius in their approaches in translating the comic to a totally different medium. A strict adherence to the XMen cannon would not have translated well to the big screen, as well as fit into any sort of decent running time. A good (though very basic) example is Wolverine's yellow outfit - decent in the comics, horrible if it was actually realized on screen.
- radsprack, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3Yes but this would be a MAJOR continuity ***** up.
- jinchoung, on 05/14/2008, -1/+4oooo, young beast? will he be played by david hyde pierce?
- schwab002, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2"I'm fairly certain that all the third movies to the trilogies did much better than the first two."
That's only true if the first two parts of the trilogy were somewhat decent. - cloud4197, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2Not a slagging off, more of a question, but does anyone who was a genuine fan of the comic (pre 2000 when it turned into a pile off c*&p) actually like the movie franchise? To me it's pathetic compared to the comic; the film wolverine's a nancy in comparison to the comic one, the comic iceman is way cooler than the film one. The comic rogue is cooler (not to mention 100x sexier) And one of the coolest characters (colosus) is'nt even used properly... And Juggernaught! Oof!
- robthom, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Your apparently endless funnel of hope is inspiring.
Keep hope alive! - radsprack, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3Yes it can be attributed to the quality of the last film. It's called hype. You get a good movie then word of mouth spreads and eventually when time comes around for a sequel, people get excited to have a new chapter to the story and more and more people go. I'm fairly certain that all the third movies to the trilogies did much better than the first two. LOTR, Shrek, Pirates, Spider Man, X-Men, the list goes on.
- fadetoone, on 05/14/2008, -2/+5If it is Beast, they already have what I would call a *minor* continuity issue here anyway. Anybody remember the cameo of "Dr. Hank McCoy" in X-men 2? He wasn't Beast yet. But then in X-Men 3 he was Beast, and it was implied he had been Beast for quite some time. So who cares what he looks like? haha
- trestevenson, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I wasn't even aware they were making a "Magneto" movie...
- knuckles, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2You can find out more about the process to make the actors look younger here: http://www.fxguide.com/article357.html
- MoralThreat, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4Nothing was good about X3. It's the equivalent to Godfather 3 in the X Men franchise.
- robthom, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Diggers dont read comics. Its old fashioned and not extreme.
If it wasn't a movie it didn't happen. - GUTTS, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1No but Beast with a hard on cums quite close
- jamesdew, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1me too!!
- r00tus3r, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4Mckellen and Grammer were absolutely awesome. It's a real shame that it will be next to impossible for them to reprise their roles in the prequel. :(
- system5y, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1latinoreview.com?
- robthom, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Millions of fanboys beg to differ (hence you being dugg down).
- effervescence, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2I think in X-Men 1 or 2, Hank McCoy (not played by Kelsey Grammar, but it was just a bit role really) appeared on a TV interview as an expert on mutants. In the interview, he was fully human, not a trace of blue fur or anything. So it would be a massive continuity error to have a "young beast" in a prequel, and I can't believe they missed this.
- Diderotten, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1REMOOOOOOOOOOOOVED!
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2It makes more sense for it to be Nightcrawler. He has a tail, for one. Plus it gives the movie some substance, allowing us to explore how the bond between Magneto and Mystique (Nightcrawler's mother) was forged. Hopefully it involves Tequilla slammers and wacky hijinx.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2This actually kind of makes sense. If you consider that in X3 (as much as I want to forget it) Magneto and Xavier went together to pick up Jean, then maybe Mags was also there when they found Beast. But I hold little faith that he will be included in such a logical manner. Oh well.
- mehagian, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Related: Gambit's finally going to see some screen time in the Wolverine Origins movie!

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=42 ... - robthom, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Its a musical fruit. An odorous symphony.
- fadetoone, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Well, it was apparent to me that the inclusion of Beast in 3 was an after thought of the cameo in 2, so they just covered it up the best they could. Beast in 3 did not seem as though he had the transformation within the last couple years.
