- JediCorran, on 11/11/2009, -3/+12if you voted for Bush, it probably is.
- casualgod, on 11/11/2009, -0/+9"Do you like fiery wrecks?"
Should've been first question. - AmnesiacJack, on 11/11/2009, -1/+9Quit it, you're making it hard to stereotype and that's just not acceptable here on Digg. Get back in your easily labeled group and stay there.
- akseitz, on 11/11/2009, -2/+9Haha a joke about turning left in NASCAR. I have never heard a joke about that before... except for every stand up comic in the last three decades.
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -7/+13That flowchart was really bad; however, NASCAR was really badass on Sunday when the Camaro pace car got dropped off by a Chinook Helicopter piloted by some good men and women from Fort Hood (language warning, adjust volume if at work).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyE5rHb795U&NR= ... - IKORKYI, on 11/11/2009, -1/+7NASCAR was not really bad ass, that helicopter was badass.

- RAAFStupot, on 11/11/2009, -0/+5Same here - even though it is Movember!
- smashblu, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4Maybe all they have to do is shift and turn but they are sitting in a car that is revving very high RPMs (getting hot) in the sun while wearing tons of heavy safety gear. So I think that that is a very enduring situation. I still think it's boring to watch, though.
- BoneStamp, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5Fair enough. I'm not a NASCAR fan, and I should have been more specific: The television block that NASCAR occupied on Sunday was bad ass because a helicopter flew in and pooped out a Camaro.
- rednaxel, on 11/11/2009, -5/+9Any F1 driver, even the worst ones, would kick ass at Nascar and other US-only oval circuit racing. There's a lot of examples of average F1 drivers that retired from F1 or just moved to oval racing and got a lot of wins. The opposite is not true: most oval racing drivers that went to F1 were major failures.
- Awwzm, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5Danica Patrick is gonna have her ass handed to her in NASCAR (and not in the good way, if that even makes any sense).
- bated321, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4"They're making a left turn!"
- EvilNecro, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4That would explain why Juan Pablo Montoya has absolutely dominated the season, crushing the competition, right? I mean, there's no way a 50 year old guy would have 5 more wins than him this year.... (/s!)
(for the google impaired, Juan Pablo is a former F1 driver, now in his 3rd NASCAR season, and has yet to win a race on an oval track. Of all the F1 drivers who have tried to make it in NASCAR he's the most successful. Mark Martin, age 50, has 5 wins this year, Juan Pablo has 0.) - solistus, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4If you voted for him twice, you may have already been signed up for a complementary lifetime membership.
- compavion, on 11/11/2009, -4/+6I dugg this article because I think it's funny, but it is unfortunate that these stereotypes are perpetuated through ignorance and non-acceptance. Here are some myths and realities of NASCAR that should be explained:
NASCAR is about turning left, as the physics of a left-hand turn are the same as a right hand turn. By constraining the racing to left hand turns, it makes for a more watchable and possibly more entertaining experience. NASCAR does race on 2 road courses in a 36 race season, thus making the notion of a "left-turn only" sport an ignorant one.
Of the active drivers in NASCAR in the top 43 driver points, about 20 of them are not from the South, and in the top 20 alone, 13 of them are from West of the Mississippi River. The current defending 3 time champion is from El Cajon, Ca, outside of San Diego, where I also currently live.
There is so much more to NASCAR than watching a driver sit down for 4 hours. If that is truly the only thing he is doing, then why do they get out of the cars so exhausted? The average NASCAR driver will lose 10 lbs during a race, which will not happen on your couch. Most of the pit-crew personnel are also atheletes, and modern teams will pull them from college athletics programs so they can be more competitive in the pits.
The notion that NASCAR is only for redknecks is also ignorant, as NASCAR is trying to branch out and bring the racing to locations such as California (with 2 races) and New England, which has at least 5 races that I can think of. From my experience, the types of fans at any given race does change with where the race is at, and you will find more redknecks at the Bristol Tennessee race than you will find in Fontana California, as there are just more redknecks in Bristol anyways.
Though the sport came from moonshining, so much has changed in the last 50+ years that has changed the face of the sport, and it is unfortunate that the stereotypes have not evolved as fast. - RAAFStupot, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3I have never experienced 'tight on entry' & 'rear wedgies' are off limits, so I guess I'm out.
- verynegative, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2"You cant find any other major racing that offers that kind of competition vs entertainment"
LOL. - smashblu, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Yeah, well I voted for McCain and I think NASCAR is boring as *****. I also think that it takes a lot of skill to drive those cars, but who wants to watch them do it?
- Kaegro, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I'd rather not be asked any thing where the sentence has attracted and bushy mean in the same sentence.
- Archaic1, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2Dugg for the website's URL
- Tiptup300, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2haha! Motorcyclists SUCH FAGS!

- jeremiahjw, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1LOL, I'm somewhat of a NASCAR fan. Hilarious flowchart.
- PhantomRogue, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2JPM is also in inferior equipment. Hendrick MotorSports is 10x better than Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. In equal Cars, JPM would win. But overall Hendrick Motorsports is just better than EGR.
- Yarkz, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2Hmm didn't even get past one, but I am so simple minded I like just watching the highlights of when people crash.
- swicken, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1So you got past being inexplicably drawn to men with bushy mustaches in jumpsuits?
And you would consider naming your son or daughter Dale Jr? - lxlqlxl, on 11/11/2009, -6/+6I voted for Obama and I am a Nascar fan. People who watch any kind of racing for wrecks is just in my opinion not real fans. I watch Nascar for the competition. You cant find any other major racing that offers that kind of competition vs entertainment. If you watch any other racing primarily F-1 you know who is going to win before the race is over. Sure it can be kinda like that in Nascar at times but its not every single race day in day out. With F-1 its primarily who can tune the computer the best. With Nascar its who can build the better car and drive the car better, have a better setup, mileage, etc who wins.
I have a lot of complaints about how nascar has setup the chase and other minor things but when it comes to the actual racing there is no other sport like it. And yes its a sport. I don't understand what these people saying omg driving in circles is so easy to do. Look at the "road course ringers" If an oval track is immensely easier than road course racing then why are they not better at ovals as well? Shouldn't these road course racers come to ovals and dominate as well since its so much easier? Try sitting in a car for hours on end with a fire suit on when its hot as hell in the car. If you are not in shape your not going to be able to make it.
Now a comment about the chart. That is not an accurate assessment of the overall Nascar fan. Sure there are some idiots who watch just for wrecks or whatever else but there are tons of football fans watching and waiting for people to get decapitated or baseball fans watching to see some one hopefully get hit in the nuts with a ball. Why do a lot of men watch women's tennis? my guess is the off chance of a nipple slip passing the censors. Whatever sport or entertainment you watch I am sure there are a lot of idiots who also watch it for reasons that go against why you watch it.
A real race fan be it Nascar, F-1 or any other racing doesn't watch for wrecks. They watch for close competition. They watch to see Yes Athletes put themselves and their cars to the limits against equal or near equal rivals. - Torturor, on 11/11/2009, -3/+3Rednecks suck at flowcharts

Nascar will never shake the hillbilly thing it's too ingrained. Uh, I'm sure they lose 10 lbs during each race, you know, shifting, and...well turning left! /sarcasm - verynegative, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1That was excellent.
- Ghostalker, on 11/11/2009, -2/+1That looks surprisingly efficient...
