- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Thanks for pointing that out 'cause the summary, which quotes it at $5, is obviously totally inaccurate.

Is it just me, or does everyone on flikr have a cat?
Why... did he have to throw the cat picture in with the hack photo series? - ab500, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Just buy a cheap ass voice recorder at your local random junk store and gut the easy button and add it. Last year in school we stole this little plastic figure our science teacher had on her desk that would say "Don't forget to study" when you pressed the button at the base and replaced the guts with the board from a cheap message recorder/player thing we bought at the store for 7 dollars and made it say "Don't forget to go **** yourself".
- HackWithRamzi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Duh, because cats are cool. But I'm not sure what the hell it had to do with the easy button.
I didn't know that they sold those buttons. I'll have to pick one up sometime and rig it up to do something that I'm too lazy to do - hence the "easy" part. - _skin_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Really cool, I bought two of them. I am going to make mine be lit internally and say that was easy when I open my garage door.
- otatop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Your girlfriend's easy enough already.
- JPhilipson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Did you even read the description you moron? STAPLES Easy Button
- jpt62089, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That was easy!
- blobzorz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It would be a cool mouse too. A one button mouse. "That was easy."
- pbransford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yepp. 4.99. And we (yes, i work there) donate some amount or another (not clear on it) to the boys and girls club of america for every one we sell.
- us3ecandme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't have a cat--will this hack still work?
Come to think of it, I don't have a garage door either.
Where'd you say I can get that button again? - rodball, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Lame^2, my friend. Diggers now consider replacing one button with another 'hacking?' Ouch!
- ACalcutt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5all he did was connect to the two etches coming from the switch....nothing hard about that
but it looks like it still will say "that was easy" when he opens his garage door - supersteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5and it should shut them up when ever you push it
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4lol, I bet you made her cry.
My wife is an 8th grade teacher for History. Comes home and cries at least once a week, but that's mostly because the kids in her class are absolutely vicious. It'll be over soon once she lands a gig at the university though.
However, like all wonderful things in life we're both laughing because it's always funny when it happens to someone else! =P - sencha5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Oooh, someone's cranky!
- festivalman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'd really like to know how to replace the "That was easy" sound with one of my own.
- bloodshade, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5They have the button on staples.com
but it's 4.99 - affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the Easy Button cost 5.98 in canada and its got to versions on in english and one in french
C'était facile! - Krozgen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Heh... I'd like to use one as my "Big Red Button" for Introversion's future game, Defcon. *launches nukes...* "That was easy!"
- mattcohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Exactly what I thought and reported as such... and then somehow it grew to 700+ diggs. Honestly... it's a ***** button. You press it and a contact is completed between two wires... he just soldered two wires to the button and everyone's digging it like crazy.
- ZekeSulastin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The entire price is donated to the Boys and Girls club ...
- ers35, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Buy here:

Apparently so. Well....That was easy! :) hahahahhaah.
- atrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2would be cool if he wired it directly to the RF remote. could be done, with a bit of work.
- m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cool! I want a c'était facile button!
- diggenerate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you can actually win something if you buy one. they quote on the packaging that you can win the "Easy Life" for a year. Things such as laundry service, personal assistant, etc... all of the proceeds go to the boys and girls club of america and to some other charity like HFH or something.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I did the same thing. I'm like, wow, they actually sell these! I thought for a minute what I could do with it, and decided to just buy my over priced laptop memory instead.
- dgcrazykid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol, I work at a staples and we sell out of those things so fast. The good thing is that all the profit from those goes to the Boys and Girls Club of America!!!
- saxattack2008, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4thats how much they cost at the store
- sencha5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had a ton given away at work, I had to take the batteries out of mine just so people didn't slam down on the button while cackling like it was the funniest thing ever. It was either that or throw it at a 50 year old woman's head. The lighter side of it is, a buddy of mine "hacked" his by making it into a belt buckle. Giggity giggidy, giggidy goo.
- infinity306, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and Batteries are included.. not too bad for $5
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would like to replace that resistor with a light sensor, that would be sweet, I would need to put it in series with maybe a 200k resistor so It doesn't get fried, didn't he say it has like a 250k? and my light sensor is about 700ohms.
- Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hm.. interesting, but not really complex enough to deserve a front page spot...
All he did was solder 2 wires on it... I bet it took him like 5 minutes. - vagrantradio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Oh man, he so hacked that easy button real good like.
- evilhomer2300, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Things that the easy button can do for you!
HERE: http://cdn.eyewonder.com/100125/750456/855944/Staples_TheWall.html
Also, apparently, all the money they make on these goes to the Boys and Girls club.....A new hack and a tax deduction...SCORE! - hollywoodone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What is the "easy button" actually used for?
- cremaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I need one of those for my girlfriend.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Umm excuuuuuse me but....I think you can buy a momentary switch for, like, $2 at radio shack.
What is the front page coming to? Have they added a 'cute' category or something?
Some people have too much free time -- myself included, for even commenting on this! - Banzai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Dude, I had an easy button in my hand yesterday over at staples. ...and I said to myself under my breath "hey this is really cool, wish it actually had a purpose"; I'm not worthy!
- claco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still want to hack on to play the start trek red alert sound when it's pressed.
- bacon_skoda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1this is too exciting. I thought it was a remote garage door openner. I'll digg that one.
- cubco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey staples just sent me an email with a cat in it. goes to some cat web site with a video.
maybe that guys cat is in here.
http://cdn.eyewonder.com/100125/750590/859293/Staples_Minisite_Copycat_859293.html - Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2But I want it now!
- xenoputtss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1When I read the title..I was hopeing that they made the button work for military defense :-P
(commercial reference) - Unicyclelarry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2972/ricromero5nz.jpg
- shpider, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Every time a lame story makes it to the front page... God kills a mastubator"
- NospmisRemoh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't think he could have created the final product in a more complicated way. In fact, I hope that was the point (i.e. that was NOT as easy as it should have been) and he was trying to be funny.
- silicondon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Agreed. I'm just glad I don't work for Staples anymore. The whole “That was Easy” campaign makes me sick. I can tell you from experience, it was almost never easy. Its really difficult to find a printer cartrige when the customer has no f**king clue what kind of printer they have.
- jmasters, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You think "That was easy!" was a hard campaign to work through?
Try working for Wendy's back when they had Clara Peller (a very old lady) yelling, "Hey, Where's the Beef?"
I got so many people doing the "Yeah, I'll show you the beef....right here..." -
