http://img464.imageshack.us/img464/7488/untitledms2.jpg - everybod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I want one.
- joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10You use it to type out words... much like an updated typewriter.
- spongebue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Oftentimes you need most of the computer to use a laptop LCD, since the LCD itself usually takes a proprietary digital signal rather than VGA
- ceralor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8So now we hit upcoming stories to get blog spam in?
On another note, I like the look of this one. Keep up the good work, Ben! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Because that would look like crap.
- NoHandle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Click the main image to bring up a larger gallery, and there is no battery.
- ceralor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Might also want to try replying to the original thread of something, too :P
- aristotle0dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It looks as big as those G5 powerbooks mockups that were floating around before Apple switched to Intel.
- DotKenneth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Very cool, but it's just begging for a 360 Elite controller to accompany it.
- P373Y, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6or spraypaint
- Visk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It looks more like a "Video Mode Select" switch...like it says in the picture...
- P373Y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its just a little bigger than a 360 brick and it would be stupid if it had a battery, the battery would be bigger than the 360 laptop
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MK2 was sweet.
I loved when Kitana gave you a birthday cake as a friendship.
And Shang Tsung did the rainbow thing. - CompanyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Am i mistaken or is that a HDMI output on that 360 lap top ?
http://www.engadget.com/photos/xbox-360-laptop-mk2/216034/ - NoHandle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Indeed, I want one! Though I have to wonder about the noise levels and how it deals with cooling.
- ryanblock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry to disappoint you, but it's 100% real, and it's not the first console laptop Ben's done for us, either. http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/19/the-wii-laptop/
- chaimpot0k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Low front view of the keyboard and front panel. This unit is slightly thicker than the first Xbox 360 laptop by about 1/8th of an inch."
Description is wrong, it is thicker, not thinner. - DaMacGamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i wonder what the battery life is......oh wait.
- hadimirza, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3But who would want to carry around that HUGE power brick?
- ceralor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not you, the parent to my comment.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't understand why they couldn't use a laptop LCD to make it thinner.
- gamebittk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You go Ryan!
Ben Heckdorn is one of the worlds most famous console modders, and also a writer for Engadget. Each time he puts together a mod, he writes it up on Engadget. Even his personal blog -- benheck.com -- now links all of his postings of mods and how-to's to Engadget. All of his mods are real, all of his mods are great, and he is an example of a contributor to Engadgets quality postings (along with Ryan Block, Peter Rojas, and the rest of the crew). Go Engadget! - OiJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Still looks big. But more portable than the original system I suppose.
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I wonder if it has a battery? Probably not. That would be too cool >.> (or hot, I suppose. Lawl)
- EvilFerret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2***** awesome..... I wonder how much it costs in parts? I'm going to estimate .....$1000-$1300 once it's all said and done.
- dijital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Foolish fool! Spare the world your foolish foolery - there is NO HDMI on this laptop - look closely, or get an education. Besides, another foolish fool tried his foolery of the same variety and was smacked down for his folly. btw... no offense. :)
- EzarKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1looks like a switch
- spongebue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trust me, it isn't a fake. I'll admit that I haven't seen *this* unit in person when it was all done, but I have met this guy in person (I'm a regular on his forums) and he showed me a few random parts for this thing when it was in the early stages. He also has the resources and abilities to do this kind of a project. I also saw the Wii laptop in person about a week before it was released; he just needed some infrared LEDs for the sensor bar. And no, it doesn't have HDMI. Like someone said, that's a switch.
I'm sure I'll be considered a fake now :P - ootd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1and also, the xbox right now doesn't have hdmi output. this laptop does.....
- drugged, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually, it looks like he has a pretty rockin' life. I hope I'm still making cool stuff when I'm 35.
- longhorn49, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lol
- m00nstone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Would that void the warranty?
- ootd, on 10/14/2007, -2/+1i think this is a fake. I looked at the pics gallery for the laptop posted on engadget, is it just me or is there never anything actually playing on the screen. There are 2 pics : 1 the xbox startup(which is offcolor)
2 the little blade that slides out from the left part of the screen when the guide button is pressed.
the blade pic looks extremely blurry on the laptop's screen
i think its a fake - xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Way to be a smartass. I saw the video and I thought it was a 360, so I asked what the point of the keyboard was. That being said... Is it a laptop or a 360?
- lockedon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I think if I could buy it at store or something I would buy it for a reasonable price. I have been wanting a xbox 360 and a laptop. So why not just get them both together. Would be nice.
- titaniumbolox, on 10/14/2007, -3/+0Does the keyboard work?
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/14/2007, -5/+1What's the point of a keyboard?
- 1KrazyKorean, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4@ceralor
How am I hitting up this, I found it on engadget like many others do and posted it..but whatever everyone has their opinion on everything. - 1KrazyKorean, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2@ceralor
OH ok well then sorry :) - Smaroo, on 10/14/2007, -9/+0HOLY CRAP THAT GUY IS LIKE 35 IN THE VIDEO. LOL NO LIFE!
P.S. I still admire your skill and expertise - inactive, on 10/14/2007, -14/+0you all were UNDUGG!!!! MAH *****'S
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -23/+1Crap so many mistakes with m y previous comment too. I hate engadget.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -25/+2Ben Heck did this FOREVER ago.
Edit: Oops. I didn't realize he did this. So why must we get some lame link to engadget? I have said this before and will say this again. Engadget defines blog spam. They add nothing new. Lame commentary, And take credit away from the original source. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -45/+2Viva la 360.
