Windows 3.1 running on a Nokia N95

osnews.com — In what can only be called "totally frakking awesome", someone installed Microsoft Windows 3.1 on a Nokia N95. By using DOSBox, Polish developer Marcin-PRV was able to install the ageing operating system on the Symbian-powered smartphone, allowing both operating systems to run side-by-side.

    We continue to use Win3.1 WFW on our voicemail because the version of Borland Paradox that it uses craps out on CPUs faster than PI 60Mhz and the drivers for the voicemail cards will not work with WinNT/2K/XP based systems.

  • lutiana, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4I have a Windows Mobile 6 based phone, and using DOSBox I was able to run a host of older games like King's quest. Also SCUMMVM has a Windows Mobile version, so the old Lucas Arts titles run great on my as well.

    So I am sure you could get Bard's Tale running on a cell phone.

  • Asrrin29, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4yeah, really, DOSBox has been out since forever on any Windows Mobile capable phone. I have it running under my AT&T Tilt so I can play Master of Orion, Eye of the Beholder, and it can even boot Win95 if I felt like wasting the time.

    The fact that it has to be jailbroken to even be enjoyed means its full of suck. I don't want to voluntarily step into a jail cell just because everyone else is doing it.
