- frank3000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29that was so cool
i wish nintendo would issue an optional firmware update for this, so i could have it without having to void my warrenty. - truax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18@ TomP
I believe the key word there was "optional" - wetdirtmud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16People digg the stories, I wasn't hired by Nintendo to think this was interesting.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13You can buy some classic games from the online service instead of getting this.

I'm sorry, I was always under the impression that aesthetics weren't supposed to have a practical use. - wetdirtmud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It says right in the video 'You can turn off PulseVU by holding the reset button for 4 seconds. Then you can turn it back on by holding the reset button for another 4 seconds.'
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i liked the sleep mode best
- Bega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6nice..
on another note, what happened to that black concept wii with the constant blue led? that was damn sexy looking... - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well you can have that on your Wii... just send your Wii an Email... and then on your Wii... Never read that message... and every time you go into sleep mode it will glow like that.
- cardyology, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah man, if nintendo are paying us to digg, where's my cut?
- alcimedes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It pulses if someone sends you a message, so you know you have one waiting. If you're that hard up for a pulsing blue light, have a friend send you a message then don't read it, and it will pulse blue forever.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Seriously stop with the emailing your Wii tip. The light goes off when you turn the system on, and in my experience doesn't come back on when you turn the system off whether you check it or not.
This stays on while the system is running, and instead of just glowing is responsive to the Wii's sound output=much cooler.
On the other hand though, judging by the sound distortion, it seems that you might have to turn up the sound very loud for this to work. If its a part installed that senses the sound, that kind of sucks, but if it directly hooks to the sound output the point is moot, but they should really not use a crap camera to show off their hard work... - grinin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thats pretty sweet!
- aer0sense, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4With the sound sensitivity, they are pushing it.
- TheLastGnu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I doubt the Wii mod can tell how loud the speakers in your television are set to.
- elitexero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think I'll just wait to see how many people ***** up their Wii trying to 'make it look cool'
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cause everybody needs to be looking at the console in the middle of a game.
- wetdirtmud, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"Until the software on the Wii is hacked, which may never happen, or may be years away, it is not possible to make software for it. So unless Nintendo releases an update to do these features, you'll have to install the hardware mod."
-SICKmods.net - tnoy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6This is one of those things that would be very cool to show off to all your friends for about a week; then the cool factor woul wear off and just start to get very annoying.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well for people that don't want to mod their Wiis, but Want the Light on when they are consoles are off, go to the Wii Message boards at the Wii menu, go to Address books and sign you email up and then the Wii will send you a Email (takes a bit) then reply to that then accept now you Wii can send emails to you and you can send Messages to your Wii, it also seems to do the Pulsing thing when you have your Wii on Bright, or you can choose Dim in the Wii settings.
- aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now that's annoyingly cool! it seems there are so many hack potential for wii.
- bakatrinh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder how they did it.
- maloventevil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this isnt a mod, it already happens when you recieve a new message from a friend on the wii!
- docillenstein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Agreed. This is another one of those 'just because you can doesn't mean it's good' mods - like the same discotheque light effect for the MacBook Pro.
- twwentin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I think I'll just wait to see how many people ***** up their Wii trying to 'make it look cool'
- rurucu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0cool
- twwentin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0you are cool man
- SICKd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This mod is now officially available for just $20 at http://sickmods.net .
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No it cant tell how loud your speakers are, but i have other stuff that responds to sound. Sometimes its not too sensitive and the sound has to be really loud.
- Spikito, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I like it, but then again, my Xbox is about as modded as they get, hardware wise
- algoseek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The quantity ads on that blog is a little bit disturbing :(
Thank you for the direct link twit987 - sumskater41, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0actually i'd get kinda annoyed by that.
- blachole, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2That's a cool idea, wonder if Nintendo will cover broken disc loading lights if they break because of this?
- sonictonic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1It's cool, but I don't understand why some people think it's so worth all this work and effort just to get that damn light on, lol. Come on are you more interested in watching a blue LED or playing the damn game?!
- kaijunexus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Wait. So this is merely a software modification?
If so, Nintendo could impliment this kind of effect in an eventual firmware update... - TomP, on 10/12/2007, -16/+7That would piss me off... ok it would look cool is it pulsed when the disc was being inserted or ejected thats all.
- 1021, on 10/12/2007, -33/+6this is utterly useless and they plan to sell this for 20 bucks?
- PaulCarus, on 10/12/2007, -38/+1What's with Nintendo paying for all the Wii stories on the front page?
Diggvertisement.
