- thirty6chambers, on 01/14/2009, -3/+92can't you just set an alarm on your phone?
- doiveo, on 01/13/2009, -1/+60Cool idea. I hate when I forget and the clothes go sour.
- Culero, on 01/14/2009, -1/+60...no worries. YOU'LL know when my load is done.
- mysticalone, on 01/14/2009, -1/+55***** Brilliant!
I can see it now...
Mom: "Is that your girlfriend calling?"
Me: "No, well kinda, it's my washing machine. She calls me when she's done washing my clothes"
Mom: "YOUR AS LAZY AS YOUR FATHER!"
Me: "AND AS BITTER AS YOU!" - ringo380, on 01/13/2009, -0/+41This would be fantastic at a laundromat, that and an alert if someone tries to open it before it's finished. *****' clothes thieves, stealing my rocketship underpants...
- Edmared, on 01/13/2009, -6/+46one word: patent.this.now!
- Fireman27, on 01/14/2009, -0/+28This already exists... They have been making them, my dorm has them
http://www.laundryview.com/about.php - Bukowsky, on 01/13/2009, -0/+22thats pretty cool... they should install it on every laundry machine, in every dorm across America.
- ralphodog, on 01/14/2009, -2/+19Seriously, it probably takes more effort to do the text messaging thing than to set an alarm.
- tbnz, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14I txt girls too when my load is ready.
- centran, on 01/14/2009, -2/+16That would probably work on the old washing machines like in the hack. Those usually end when you think they will.
However, my nice new modern washing machine has an awesome little countdown timer that tells you when it will finish.... only problem is that when it says 1 minute left then that could mean there is actually 2 minutes or maybe 15 minutes left or maybe 10 minutes. Stupid inaccurate timer. - Me1000, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14yes
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+13My college already has texting washing machines, actually.
- GLneo, on 01/14/2009, -1/+13What?, Common Sense?, on MY Digg?
- coldkill3r, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12Win.
+3 internets (REDEEMABLE NOWHERE) - Zombi, on 01/14/2009, -1/+10That's 3 words actually.
- Pawsick, on 01/14/2009, -2/+11We want underpants today, all day
Search for underpants, today
We won't stop until we have underpants
Yum yum yummy yum yay
Time to go to work, work all day
Search for underpants today
We won't stop until we have underpants
Yum yum yummy yum yay - ZeeZee2k, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8honestly
- fryguy1013, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8Why replace something that still works? It's not like there are clothes in 2009 that only work in washing machines that were made after 2005 and you need to upgrade them, or a 2009 washer only takes 45 seconds to wash clothes that take 60 minutes on a 1982 washing machine.
- RadiatedAnt, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7if your school isn't that *****, they have the laundry machines hooked up to the internet nowadays so you can keep an eye on it.
- x70x, on 01/14/2009, -1/+7not sure why ur getting dugg down... mine does the same thing
- Memnochxx, on 01/14/2009, -2/+8Just what I would want my tuition going toward.
- goodwood21, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6That'll probably be my machine calling me now.
- GoKings, on 01/14/2009, -4/+91. Throw in laundry
2. Set washer or dryer
3. Set phone alarm for 30 minutes
4. ???
5. You remember your laundry - ligyron, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Actually, yes I did, seeing as those submissions were probably in upcoming for about 5 minutes. Also, this submission has over 200 diggs and those have below 10. So clearly, many people missed it
Hope that answers your question. Keep on Diggin'! - Unsanity, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5we have it here at uw in seattle, i've yet to use it though because it seems pointless when you can just set an alarm on your cell phone and also i've heard the text messages aren't always prompt.
- skid666, on 01/14/2009, -1/+5I have it too. She texts me when my clothes are done. She texts me when the dishes are done. She texts me texts me when my dinner is done.
- Remmiz, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Same here. Brilliant invention.
- PRlME, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4You got one awesome mom dude.
- uncertainty, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4We have this at our school on campus. It's pretty sweet to get texts and email alerts when your load is done too. We use this service, it's pretty neat... http://wm.esuds.net/RoomStatus/showRoomStatus.i?lo ...
- mattrud, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4my college's washing machines do this. email/text message when load is done. it's great.
- scy1192, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4more of a mod than a hack
- BedPost, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4You redeem them by masturbating.
- ligyron, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4My roommates do that all the time. 90% of the time I go to do a wash, there's clothes left in the washer
- LemonDefragger, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4My dorm already has this, not that a timer w/ alarm can't do the same thing...
- xptoast, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Is there any laundry machines that double as a dryer? It would be great to set everything all at once and have it do the washing then drying promptly after. It would be even cooler if I could just throw clothes into a huge hopper that would properly dispense them into said washer/dryer and set them going. Then when done it would unload them into another hopper and start more clothes. Possibly find a way to have it fold/hang clothes. Yay!!! Makes me giddy at the thought of it doing all my work. If you could do this then have it built into the house so it would send them up a chute and into your closet/drawers that would be even more awesome. Well that was a few fun minutes of day dreaming.
That and I want one order of home improvements "man kitchen" as it was super sweet! - KibblesnBitts, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Oh no way, they have it at william and mary too?
American University has it....I love it - laonline, on 01/13/2009, -0/+3Yes, please!
- Segaw, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3I'll never have one of those toasters in my home. So say we all!
- drakkie, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3reminds me of two and a half men
- adml_shake, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3i bet you say that to all the boys....
- landosystem, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3That washing machine has more followers than I do, that washing machine shall rue the day...
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Silly fiscal conservative, you'll never get anything that you want.
- tas08, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3"Rose's washing machine now has 152 followers on Twitter -- meaning every time he does laundry, 152 people hear about it."
Yikes, that would sure motivate me to do my laundry a little more often. - KSUdesigner, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2@BossKey: We're talking about washing machines, not dryers.
- kd1s, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Screw this new school stuff. I'm just going to put contacts on the timers on both the washing machine and the dryer that will use a 415MHz wireless connection to ring a bell upstairs.
- app103, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Could hook it up to your lights and make them flash when it's finished. Buy one of those doorbell kids for the deaf.
- MarcieCastillo, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2my washing machine has this alarm thing it's the most annoying thing. As soon as it finishes it just goes AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
and since I'm like 10 feet from the washing machine I tend to not need another reminder that my clothes are done - BossKey, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Jeezus, I'm dugg down for FACTS again. Get a clue Diggers.
- kd1s, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2True, I'm a headphone junkie so flashing light wouldn't be a bad idea.
