Greatest mod ever? - Sun.Surfin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I want the wooden mod, but my question is... if somebody did it to a Dell and it exploded, would it make the fire burn brighter?
- SonofMaug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@ BearOwned:
And by "gayer" you mean "happier", right? Because otherwise you need to grow up. - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6hey, it could happen to a Mac too...
plus not brighter, just longer.. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Seriously? I thought that was the coolest one on the page. I've always wanted to build something like that, but I've never had the time..
Or tools.
Or skill. - KniteWulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm digging the wooden laptop case.
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"nice but i like this better...

I like that a lot actually, very Steam Punk. - Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I ripped up my laptop, let me add some time to the video as I shoot off the ***** specs for it. I covered it in duct tape because I don't know how to make a case of some type out of any kind of material. Yeah and the whole point of this video is that I put some flash animation that runs at startup. You probably saw it on the internet last year, but now it's on my ugly, chopped up laptop. This video really should have been five seconds long, but then that wouldn't have wasted your time.

My god. By coincidence we installed the same type of mods!! How sweet is that? - KniteWulf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I didn't think it was possible to make a Mac look bad, but that guy accomplished it.
- ensomnia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know, I expected to see one of Ben Heck's works in there, maybe the 360 laptop mod?...
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.swedx.se/
As soon as you mention the cost and time involved, someone, somewhere, says "Hey, I think there's a market for that".
I agree that wood is probably not the best material for building computers, but it definitely looks nicer, and certainly, something like Bamboo is infinitely more renewable (in the sense that it decays in a landfill, and regrows) than any kind of plastic. - jstack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+258 Farad capacitor? That is freakin huge.
- vrillusions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm still a fan of p-p-p-powerbook, http://www.p-p-p-powerbook.com/
I know it's not a real laptop, but it sure seemed like it was to the scammer :) - InsaneMachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not to mention that wood is heavier than the plastic currently in use, and maybe easier to damage as well.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I crazy or did the site just change layouts...
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree that they are certainly not as cool, but gayer they are not...
- Edkim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hmmm, I really want for the laptop mod #4 to be some kind of joke, because it looks depressing. And I hope the guy talking was also joking, he seems to be very proud of his "creation"
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ehh...I guess it is cool...guy in the first video gave some of the most random facts and specs...like the kind and size of the hard drives holding up his computer...
- puffinkiss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1would someone mind explaining to me what the first mod is? i plainly don't understand it. toothpick??
- vraicovi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised that no one else had anything to say about the Atari 2600 and all the accompanying games in the photo. As funny looking as the "Franken-Top" was, the amount of games in the background of the photo is what caught my eye.
- 4UIDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The laptop-exercise machine is a pretty cool idea. Would also work nice with a TV.
- Sethwm2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The Wooden one is the only one that I like. It goes back to the Apple II days when most computer cases were made out of wood. This is a very nice design. I don't think that we will see any wooden computers made by companies because of the cost of wood and the time it would take to make them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Buddhist
that wouldn't be a compaq armada would it? same exact thing happened to me...... - Kickersny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Buddhist: if that is an older Dell, I had the same thing happen to me. I disassembled the computer, removed the screen, mounted it to a wall, and made myself a wall-top. Add in a wireless keyboard and mouse, can be a fun time.
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Western Digital Cavalier FTW!
(It's supposed to be Caviar, but he apparently doesn't know this.) - unamas, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7nice but i like this better...
http://www.macmod.com/content/view/404/192/ - adamtj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is the worst description I've seen in a while.
- Skeptic8536, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It goes back to the Apple II days when most computer cases were made out of wood."
WTF??? When the ***** were computer cases made out of wood? Before the Apple II, there were the Apple and the Altair for home computing and both were made from plastic and metal. Pretty much anything prior to that would have been a mainframe and would also have been made out of metal. How old are you, 15?
The only thing I can think of that might have been remotely computer like and looked like wood might have been some of the very early video game systems, but I am not sure because I started out with the NES. - Erectile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of these aren't showing up (the flash ones).
- garitd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ SonofMaug
Grow up!? how bout kill yourself? - dyvbond, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Ok, that pedal one completely defeats the purpose of a laptop..which should be *portable*...plus, wayyyy too much work.
The iNotebook looks kind of cool though.. - jftitan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1HA! this brings to me to think about the computers/laptops they used in Hackers. How they would mod a wordprocessor to look like a laptop. These people are serious hardware hackers. Because they hacked the ***** out of them, only to make unique pieces of *****.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1If you're not joking please do us all the favour of competing for a Darwin award.
- sylentmode, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I have to agree with bearowned.....not only were the mods ***** as hell....but the narrative descriptions make me want to shoot myself.....especially for the pong clock......jesus christ
