- mklopez, on 08/20/2008, -5/+94Dear digg: can you put a "same URL exists" check in between each step of the submission process?
This story was duped 3 times in less than 2 minutes, time enough for the database to be updated with the existing URL.
I'll gladly take a message like "sorry, but someone finished digging that URL while you were typing the description and capcha", over seeing multiple diggs stealing votes from each other.

http://digg.com/hardware/Top_10_YouTube_Hacks_2 - crazyjake, on 08/21/2008, -17/+72and the word hack continues to lose it's meaning.....
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -4/+29Hack always meant what the site says it does, to tinker or modify outside of specifications. The word "crack" however is what you really mean. (crack: to completely subvert a system).
The main stream media has confused the two, and apparently you (and the people who are digging you up) subscribe to their incorrect definition of the word. You belong to the "little bit of knowledge" demographic. You know enough to open your mouth and talk, but once you start talking you sound foolish. I would guess your age to be between 15 and 17. - trpnblies7, on 08/21/2008, -0/+22And the word "it's" continues to be used incorrectly.
- graemee, on 08/21/2008, -1/+16Actually hack was hijacked to describe more malicious things. It means: "a clever or quick fix to a computer program problem, or to a clumsy or inelegant solution to a problem. The term is also used to refer to a modification of a program or device to give the user access to features that were otherwise unavailable"
(wiki)
Which is exactly what this article shows. - kuz2r, on 08/21/2008, -2/+16Welcome to diggwars.com,
the digg match has been won by warrior007. Keep training son, your digg power needs improvement - koonchu, on 08/21/2008, -1/+12As a faithful Digger (and not so much as a submitter), what am I supposed to do about this? I just pick a story (or all three) and vote.
For me, I don't *care* who gets the credit, honestly. I care that quality stories make it onto Digg. Granted there are three submitted versions of this story, but (look) one made it to the front page.
I can live with this. No offense, fellow friend, can you? ^_^; - Vich, on 08/21/2008, -4/+15Buried for use of word "hack"
- lackey, on 08/21/2008, -0/+10What about adding "&fmt=18" to the end of the video URL eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxNOCl7S7lU&fmt=18 this will give you the video in high quality
- MarkusX, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8I absolutely agree, that appened to me before, too.
...and it sucks.
It shouldn't be so difficult to implement a URL duplication check not only Headline "duplication". - CarzorStelatis, on 08/21/2008, -1/+8You complain about the meaning of words and in the process use the phrase "loss cause". Epic fail.
- anksrivastava, on 08/21/2008, -4/+10Are these HACKS?
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5Anyone know how to keep the video in full-screen after each video in a youtube playlist ends, the damn thing keeps going beck to small embedded in page mode every time.
- CarzorStelatis, on 08/21/2008, -1/+5It's actually 9 - they mentioned Better Youtube twice. Buried as inaccurate, although I'd have buried it even without that to be honest.
- mlvassallo, on 08/21/2008, -7/+11Wow... what's a hack anymore?
- FireLark, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3this is another youtube interface you could try:
http://video.rhadio.com/index.html?pl=irp8CNj9qBI, ...
press esc to go to full-browser-screen. by default i have it loading a playlist of queen videos. - DevilsLeftHand, on 08/21/2008, -4/+6I'd just be happy if they used the words "Tips", "Tools" or "Advice" or maybe even "Stuff you Didn't Know"...but I agree that the word 'Hack' is used with too much impunity these days.
I'm waiting to see 'Top 10 Ways to Hack your Morning Bagel!" - sinembarg0, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2There is aURL dupe check, it just only checks before you type the description. I f you take a while while typing it, and someone else has the same URL checked while you're typing it, it won't result in a dupe alert. OP is saying it should check again when you're actually submitting it.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2Thanks man!!!
- JorgeGT, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2I can haz Greasemonkey scriptz plz?
- HueytheFreeman, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2I like using adblock plus to remove all the extra crap I don't want to see:
youtube.com#div(class=nav) - I don't use any of the features of the navigational buttons.
youtube.com#div(class=watch-body expand-content)(id=watch-promoted-container) - the promoted videos are usually ***** so I've just disabled seeing them.
youtube.com#div(id=footer) - blocks out that stupid footer thing at the bottom so my page doesn't scroll.
youtube.com#div(id=watch-actions-area) - blocks out the sharing features.
youtube.com#div(id=watch-ratings-views) - blocks out the stupid "rate my video" feature.
youtube.com#div(id=watch-tab-commentary-body) - makes it so I don't have to see people's youtube comments which may adversely affect my IQ. - Whitey07, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1My hacking skills are ULTIMATE NOW.
- JRW5061, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Dugg for # 8 Get baked. heh
- mikephimikephi, on 08/21/2008, -2/+3The article mentions Windows Media Center and Xbox for TV viewing of clips.
...you can also use PS3 and Wii (and TiVo?) - stutimandal, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Only #6 is a hack. Rest are programs.
- Charmingirl, on 12/16/2008, -0/+1I used to see this before. But youtube needs high level speed of internet
http://www.charmingirl-china.com - Lewie, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1I'd eat it.
- neko, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1"seeing multiple diggs stealing votes from each other"
... -stealing-? Surely you can't be serious. - RevEng, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1I do not like websites and spam, I do not like them, Sam I Am.
- RevEng, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Or you could use the TV-out on your video card and go full screen.
- dontlookleft, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1What koonchu said. I really don't care who's makes it, I just want to read some good stuff. Thanks to everyone that submits!

I'm very tempted to say that if Fight Club and Memento combined forces, The Machinist would be born except it would be born without a superb ending like the

- holyskeleton, on 08/21/2008, -4/+1He could just hacked the Digg submission page by clicking "Totally original, I swear!" button. and make a story out of it, submit it to Digg and make that to the front page. then someone else could make another front page story out of some meme from the comments and some other website could make another front page story out of that.
