Foot -----YES awsome - haooken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lol at USB solenoid. Great Idea. Press the power button, out pops liquid power, hehe. awesome.
- pjsk8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Liquid power"
Well said! I guess calling this a cool mod would prove to be a true statement in more ways than one.
- pjsk8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Liquid power"
- gxcdesign, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4All it needs is Budweiser and then we're talking
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Forget mountain dew, I'd put some bawls in there and seal the deal!
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5where is the computer? did I miss that part?
- vdubski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No one said anything about a computer.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Yeah, who's gonna lug two heavy cases to a LAN? Lame, no digg
- vdubski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Coralized it, just in case.
http://inventgeek.com.nyud.net:8080/Projects/Minifridge/Overview.aspx - iSamurai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That's my case! Now I have even more of an inclination to do this mod :| Don't know if that's good or bad.
- CynicalBastard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to stick a pc into a fridge you should keep everything dry. Seal it up nice like this guy did and then add a lot of Silica Desicant gel. Just replace the gel every so often.
Edit: sorry this is for evangelion01 below

- phatalbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this would be much cooler if it worked as a computer too.
- spartan018, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3agreed, but you'd need a huge case to fit a decent amount of cans in.
- evangelion01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i thought it was a pc and a little fridge :(, what about putting a pc inside a mini fridge ;)?
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I can't believe they left out the computer.
What is it, just a fridge?
I have a spring water cooler, and I am definitely gonna mod it and put a comp in there....so I can get cold spring water and a frozen processor!
There will be little ice-water pipes running right through it. The fans will keep any condensation evaporating, further cooling it.
I just need to get a digital camera, so y'all can see it here. - DFchoke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Can't wait until people actually put a pc in a fridge, or a fridge cooler in a pc and fry the mobo with condensation.
Seriously, I'm waiting for the comment to show up at the bottom. - cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Stick a mac mini into one of the 5 1/4" drive bays :P
- darkone_05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Horrible grammar aside, was anyone else looking for an explanation of how he "hardwired" the power supply to be on without the motherboard?
- mugdecoffee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Assuming that you have an ATX power supply, you connect the green and a nearby black (ground) wire on the 20 pin motherboard connector and it turns on. I usually use just a small piece of wire crammed between the two. I would assume that the guy who made the fridge used a toggle switch though.
- darkone_05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a follow up to my question, this article tells you how.

With a $14.00 automotive relay I have used that information to have my main PSU trigger a second PSU. It is cheaper to run 2 $29.00 450Watt PSU's than a single 900Watt PSU!
- JasonHilton, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3This was on hackaday.com last night.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4And your point is?
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Screw the computer, im bringing that to my next LAN party!
- paulchu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3how many 3D Marks does it get?
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2none, but atleast it spits out frekin MountianDew!
- jgstew, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@darkone, you just short 2 pins on the mobo connector, but i dont know which ones. maybe you have to put a resistor across them instead of just short?
- darkone_05, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1[comment deleteed]
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1awesome
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Screw all of this! Just put the damn soda in those nice mini fridges you just bought!
- Hamsterpotpies, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4dont copy hackaday.
http://www.hackaday.com/entry/1234000890073633/- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What makes you think he copied hackaday? And even if he did, who the hell cares.
- ai42, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5This is one of the most useless mods I've ever seen! He ruined a perfectly good case to cool Mountain Dew?! For tha matter he is using a 400W PSU to run 2 fans and a TEC?! Why did he not use the power supply from the original cooler. Anyway what a giant waste of time. It would have been more effective and cheaper to buy a mini fridge, and modded a flap to grab your coke.
- gargomel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If the point was simply to have cold drinks then obviously just using the fridge would suffice. However, I think he was after something a little more unique than a mini fridge. Some people like to dream up ideas then make them reality instead of just dumping on other peoples work. Thanks for the great comment.
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think this is the easy way out compared to this one.
http://www.dewmod.com/- noiles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this mod is better than the digged story except i'm not sure putting a computer case on wheels is a such a good idea, especially since it is on top of the guys desk, and dispensing mountain dew
- dupswapdrop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh boy now I know why I was saving the 10 old cases I have...
Mod them into beer coolers. - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my friend asked me the other day what it was with computer science majors and mountain dew, and i had no answer. I still don't - anyone know?
- saon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a cheap, effective source of caffiene for people that don't particularly like coffee.
- Jugm123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i just tried to make one, it sucks haha, not enough fans.
- dragulaaeop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Didn't kinda bug you that he kept referring to the sodas as "your cold ones"... once or twice would have been okay, but everytime...
Other than that, it was a pretty cool mod. I never realised that (actual) mini fridges use peltiers, but it makes sense. That knowledge alone made the article worth the read. - Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1OMG. That's brilliant! That's the coolest coolant system I've ever seen.
- MechaKevinRose, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4so lemme get this straight... it's an article about taking 2 fridges and making them into 1 fridge... cool ... NOT..
Mugatu: I invented the piano key neck tie! I invented it! What have you done, Derek? Nothing!
lemme just say, let the modding down begin.. some people just can't handle the truth!- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1OMGHI2U
- rocketryguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Brilliant, but fer chrissakes, learn to spell!
- arkitect, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it would be easier just to make fridge into a computer than the other way around. And if you were talented you could use the fridge to cool it. Now that would be sweet...
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.dewmod.com/
- martianbob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm willing to bet that if you put a mini-ITX or mirco-ATX mobo in there, you would have enough room for a half case of Dew and computer too.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3prove it
- BradC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I also thought it was a computer plus the drink dispenser. Not that this isn't pretty cool, but it seems like an awful lot of money and effort to me.
- Boscolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... he needs someone to proofread that document. There are so many homonym mistakes that I can hardly stand reading it.
- vash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would have been decent if the computer case actually contained a computer.
- PSP005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wanna know something...i am making this right now. honestly. i got all the parts from EBay. all i have left to do is put the psu in, the styrofoam(sp?), and the plexi. i thought it was the coolest thing ever.(literally too....haha)
