I don't care if it's not relevant to that pointless ***** image posted above; ***** Twitter. - fuxxx, on 06/22/2009, -7/+265It's actually
"Comments from ***** nitpicking insignificant bits of the story". It's a complete sentence - itsthehumidity, on 06/22/2009, -1/+233I absolutely agree, and here's why.

- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -6/+178Nickelback sucks.
- CoreyTamas, on 06/22/2009, -2/+144The only part they got wrong was that they listed 10 pages for the list instead of 11 or 12.
- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -16/+134I blame Cracked magazine for the whole debacle.
- dcj023, on 06/22/2009, -2/+107You don't have to capitalize the "p" in Nitpicking.
- Xwhy, on 06/22/2009, -2/+104Yeah, that about sums it up nicely.

*WOOOSSHHH* - MaxMyers, on 06/22/2009, -2/+64***** A DUCK
- purplesawdust, on 06/22/2009, -3/+62The page is dead-on about journalism and how the format has changed. My previous comment just was making fun of the section where it states that people nitpick over insignifigant things in the story.
- MaxxusFlamus, on 06/22/2009, -5/+55I like how people act like ads are a bad thing.
You have to pay the journalists somehow. You either pay for the newspaper, or you get free news, but get ads.
you can't just get that kinda ***** for free. - inactive, on 06/22/2009, -0/+50I was joking. However, Forbes is really bad about that multi-page thing. They do "Top 10" lists that have 11 or 12 pages. They really know how to stretch a fluff piece.

- fragMasterFlash, on 06/22/2009, -3/+34Journalists want to get paid? Alert the media!
- Speed, on 06/22/2009, -0/+31Sadly, Cracked writes some of the most well-researched articles on the internet, and they are one of the very few sites who even include sources.
- Hraes, on 06/22/2009, -8/+39Fixed:
http://imgur.com/QEzK0.jpg - SpectreFire, on 06/22/2009, -1/+31The internet is a terrible medium for lengthy pieces of writing. With so much quick access to everything, it's hard to keep focused on just one item. That's why articles are getting shorter and shorter, and why stuff like Twitter and blogs are so popular. Because everything comes in small bite sized pieces.
People shouldn't be cheering on the downfall of print media, because what's replacing it, is an online media that is slowly replacing well researched and well written pieces with inaccurate crap that passes for writing.
A million voice isn't that powerful of a thing if 999,000 of them are just people talking about taking a *****. - Praystation, on 06/22/2009, -1/+30and don't forget DANE COOK
- Tiak, on 06/22/2009, -3/+32Somehow I think the adblock plus version of this image is quite a bit less profound.
- artfiend77, on 06/22/2009, -2/+31I don't think people who write most of the junk you see on the "online journalistic websites" deserve to get paid for some of the tripe they produce.
- BenOfAffleck, on 06/22/2009, -3/+31Learn you are grammar
- gemlarin, on 06/22/2009, -2/+27The ***** marketing guys make it look like #2. Literally and figuratively. It is almost pointless to try and design anything of substance anymore, because the marketing guys just end up destroying the layout with bull ***** ad overkill, that thanks to Adblock Plus, a large percentage of the viewers wont end of seeing anyways. It used to be you could design with a simple tower ad, and maybe even a banner ad in mind and make a nice design that worked well with the advertising, but those days are gone.
I made the mistake of making an Adblock Plus comment to a colleague too loud at a client meeting once and I swear I saw steam shoot out of the marketing managers ears.
PS. Thank you digg team for working the ads in nicely. You guys and gals deserve a thumbs up. - user24, on 06/22/2009, -0/+25http://puremango.co.uk/journalism.png
- lepetitmousse, on 06/22/2009, -0/+25just looked at all your other pictures.
you're crazy. - Benno, on 06/22/2009, -1/+24News sites, I'll make you a deal. If you stop using flash ads and/or pop-ups then I won't block ads on your site. It's true that movement draws attention better than a static image or text does but it also makes it very hard to read the content of the page.
- Xproject01, on 06/22/2009, -1/+22BUY A SWIFFER WET JET
- jonlucc, on 06/22/2009, -0/+21That's why there are ten pages under the top ten article. Pay attention.
- appleofdischord, on 06/22/2009, -0/+21Why?
They usually split into two pages. I can't think of the specific sites, but I've definitely seen some that are 1 page per 'thing'. - CoreyTamas, on 06/22/2009, -0/+19I'm with you on that, but I think it's fair to recognize that there's a bad system going on here. If you have to destroy the content and the enjoyment thereof to get ad revenue, then the system obviously isn't working.
