- starkruzr, on 01/25/2008, -3/+13Then you didn't brick it, moron. Bricking it means it cannot be restored, cannot be used, is completely useless.
- jameshighmore, on 01/25/2008, -21/+25That's all well and good, but can it stop Scientology?
- freefoodisgood, on 01/25/2008, -2/+6My ring tones don't ring and my alarm doesn't sound off after upgrading and jailbreaking, did this happen to anyone else?
- Moliket, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5Don't get too excited, I tried it last night, and if you have used boss tool to move and relink all your apps for space consideration, you now won't be able to access them. You'll have to reinstall all third party apps. Also, Google maps doesn't work at all now for me. Just a word of caution.
- skidooer, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3There's a package in Installer.app that will give you the ability to add events in the calendar under 1.1.1.
- strictnein, on 01/25/2008, -1/+4This working on just iphones or the ipod touch as well?
- tophu, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Um, after the SDK comes out, jailbreak may indeed be redundant.
- starf, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Bricking was only for any unlocks that messed with the baseband. Simple jailbreaking shouldn't risk bricking.
- virtualball, on 01/25/2008, -2/+5Ok, but be warned, you will have a lot of roll over minutes. Jailbreakme.com won't work... ever. It relied on a TIFF exploit in Safari which has now been fixed.
- Frankli, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3Misinformation: this jailbreak that you've linked to goes to Nate True's blog, and Nate True is no longer a part of the iPhone Dev Team for releasing a 1.1.3 jailbreak without the Dev Team's permission. For more info, go here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ...
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Someone please explain what "The Jump" means on lifehacker?? everything I read there sounds like bad television...
- br0ken1128, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I did this last night on my T-Mobile iPhone, I went from 1.0.2 straight to 1.1.1 which was fine.. then when I went to 1.1.3 everything went down hill .. I mean it worked but I believe the baseband got updated or something - I had no signal - the phone was pretty well useless as a phone and only worked on wifi .. I used recovery mode to go back to 1.1.1 and still had no signal .. went to 1.0.2 and had no signal .. then my phone started doing the endless rebooting ..
Finally today I spent literally 5 1/2 hours working on various things and got it fixed.. I had to add the repository http://i.unlock.no and use the "downgrade baseband" tool .. once I did that, got signal back and went to 1.1.1 ....
Since I'm a glutton for punishment, after getting my Jeebus Phone resurrected, I'm not attemnpting 1.1.3 again ;) .. haha .. at least I know the steps to fix it now.. so less concerned.. let's see what happens! - Frankli, on 01/25/2008, -2/+4Nate True = vigilante hacker that wanted the glory of releasing a 1.1.3 "jailbreak" and did so without the permission of the iPhone Dev Team, and he was promptly removed. Here's a link to a hackint0sh thread that I'm referring to:
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2 ...
This jailbreak isn't all that great (sure it jailbreaks your iPhone, but it breaks a lot of other stuff on your iPhone as well). This jailbreak isn't an official release of the Dev Team, and I would advise people to wait until one is officially formulated and released through the Dev Team before they attempt to jailbreak their iPhones. IMO Nate True acted childish in releasing this jailbreak before Apple releases their SDK, giving Apple opportunity to perhaps push a 1.1.4 update before/when they release their SDK. It's interesting to see how well impatience correlates with immaturity. - eliteeggnog, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2If you're in vista, run the ibrckr.exe in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and administrator mode. Worked for me.
- Lounger540, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I went 1.1.3 true update to 1.1.1 jailbreak (used the Safari *#307# hack) to 1.1.3 jailbreak and then I had to replace my /usr/libexec/lockdownd with the true 1.1.3 version in order for it to activate correctly. Everything is working fine after that with an AT&T Sim.
- starf, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I didn't check that. But my bluetooth gps w/speakerphone would disconnect after 5 seconds every time. I restored to 1.1.3 unjailbreaked, and it worked fine. Then I went through the process of restoring and jailbreaking to 1.1.2 where I'll wait for the sdk.
- pakkman781, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Yup, same problem here. I'm going to try a few things to fix it, but I might just have to go back to 1.1.1 :(
- dontaskagain, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Restoring to 1,1,3 is your own dumb fault. I also followed this procedure and was working fine until i tried to un-install an app, hung for 30 mins, forced restart and it wouldnt boot. I also had to restore, back to 1.1.1. From there it was a simple procedure to jailbreak, baseband was still unlocked so the process took around 30 mins to 1hr to get back to jailbroken 1.1.3 with unlocked 1.1.1 baseband.
- jcasebmw, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1This did not work for me. I got to the part where you do the soft install on the iPhone but it said that there was an error because the image was not on the iPhone. Help please!
- br0ken1128, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Well I'm in a bind at this point because the 1.1.3 soft update package is NOT showing up in the installer app .. I have the community sources and I've refreshed, it's not there.. and I *have* to have that to finish .. I think if my phone gets reset I'm gonna be screwed and have to start over..
Anyone know any way to manually install this package? or where to even find it? - Moliket, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I personally don't have any problem with it. I just wanted everyone to know all the kinks are not worked out just yet.
- virtualball, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Well, then reinstall the apps, it won't kill you. To fix the Google Maps problem, upgrade to 1.1.3 cleanly and then downgrade to 1.1.1 and then install the 1.1.3 jailbreak.
- Rustymetal, on 01/25/2008, -2/+3DO NOT USE THIS JAILBREAK FOR IPODS. THERE IS A FATAL FLAW IN NATE'S CODEING!!!!
When it edits the 1.1.3 firmware IT ONLY knows how to edit IPHONE firmware and IPHONE FIRMWARE installed on a IPOD TOUCH could be bad. - inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1really? what are the chances of bricking it and what can we do to avoid this? Cause ive been restoring my iphone and doing the whole jailbreaking for over 10x now. Don't ask me why...
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1sorry to waste digg space, but does anyone have a link to find out which 3rd party apps are 1.1.3 compliant? Sorry once again and thanks!

http://iphone-2-0.blogspot.com/2008/08/iphone-20-j ... - etx313, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1NO! But it could help us DDoS their web site!!! /sarcasm
- eliteeggnog, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1"could be"
- eliteeggnog, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Basically any app that 'Requires 1.1.1+' or anything along those lines will not work. These include: Summerboard, Customize, SendSong and a few others I found that wouldn't reinstall when I jailbroke it last night.

That's the most comprehensive and simple iPod Touch method as of now. - hungryduck, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Best Comment Ever.
- rdavemacdonald, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Been waiting on this little nugget!
- thecompkid, on 01/27/2008, -0/+1Yeah, because Apple's going to make the SDK completely open
- dzan242, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I tried it and it says my phone's not jailbroken. Interesting, considering I run Installer and use my 3rd party apps all the time. Oh well, looks like people are reporting nothing but problems anyway.
- garbs, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1My touch is running the jailbroken firmware 1.1.3 just fine (doesn't look anything like an iphone).
- br0ken1128, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1wow interestingly .. it didn't show up on my wifi connection but the moment I refreshed over edge.. it showed up..
- br0ken1128, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Crashed .. now I have to revert back and start over.. whee
- Rustymetal, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Some mis-information in that post. You don't have to use boss tool at all. You have to relink all your apps because the springboard file that lists all the apps is replaced by apple's update. And with
ONLY things that do not work with Nate True's 1.1.3JB is the google locate me feature, DRM authenticated music (This includes default ringtone, if you use this guide u need to set a non-apple ringtone) or any DRM music. ALL these problems are fixed by a "true" jailbreak which dev team should be realising soon. And there are other problems with edge settings and such. If you do this JB method you need to reset all settings via iphone settings panel which deleteds ur apps anyway so its null.
The problem with this Jailbreak is it does not upgrade your modem's baseband and thigns such as google maps locate me try to bring up functions that are not there. The DRM music is a basic problem that has persisted with every Jailbreak that the baseband needs to correlate to the DRMed music.
IMO if your a noob just wait a day or two for Dev-Team noob mode jailbreak method. - arjung, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Clear iPod Touch instructions please? i'm on a jailbroken 1.1.1 right now, but i'd like the new Calendar (adding events) and the possibility for the API apps to work.
- thecompkid, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Actually, the jailbreak that the dev team is hiding is based on an exploit with the quicktime streaming media player. After the SDK comes out, jailbreakme.com will probably be updated.
- godofblog, on 06/27/2008, -0/+0Found one at Ace Hardware online and ordered it to be delivered to the store. Paid about the same as if I bought it here w/ shipping. Great stool though. We have one from the 50's that is a simple one step w/ padded seat for our 6 yr old's dinner table chair and needed another one for our 2 yr old. Doubles as a great stool when trying to reach high shelves! more info http://astore.amazon.com/cosco.step.stool-20
- micklerlop, on 01/25/2008, -2/+2mirror for the dmg?
- dreuno, on 02/04/2008, -0/+0I originally jailbroke my (at&t) phone when the initial jailbreak was released for firmware 1.0.2. needless to say that i am still using the 1.0.2 firmware. There are many more apps that i am unable to install. not compatible. I want to update my phone to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. and jailbreak it. My modem firmware is 04.01.13_G. Can anyone help me?
- pcpimpster, on 01/26/2008, -2/+1Still no proper SDK for this thing... ?
- ocularist, on 01/25/2008, -5/+4apple should put this along with the sdk pipe and smoke!!!!
- Mikey9oo, on 01/25/2008, -4/+3Watch out. I did this on my v. 1.1.1 and it bricked it. I then had to restore my iphone and go to an un-jailbroken 1.1.3 : (
- deadwilder, on 01/25/2008, -1/+0Ok, it's the third time this hits the first page.
- keithc01, on 01/25/2008, -6/+2Jeez, step one is to run iBrickr.exe? That's ***** hardcore. And I mod everything.
