- Feanor, on 10/12/2007, -13/+94Kinda like Vista...
- texx, on 10/12/2007, -15/+87I've thought about just loading this on the computers management want "upgraded" just to prevent the inevitable headaches that Vista would cause.

Then why say it? No one needs to hear that crap. You get a mac, sit on it and do a little dance. - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+59I've tried this a while ago, and it does do the job, but it's a resource hungry. It was also a pain to uninstall.
- cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -15/+74Unless and until they try to access and take advantage of some of the other features of Vista that are designed to help businesses beyond the pretty interface?
- logic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+44It's a feature!
- StandardsDT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23yes its called classic mode

When you get out of high school and enter the world of employment and productivity, you will understand.

They're listed all over, you just have to read something besides digg.com comments to find them. - amenic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Even more interesting is how someone feels that 8 megs of RAM is enough to allocate to any sort of Webserver / Database configuration...
"Hi, 1996 called and wanted to let you know that they want their Webserver back." - shuffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16No. It was never cool.

Yeah, because it replaces your system files. Be sure to make a system restore point before installing this. - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17Windows Vista:
Now 50% shinier! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21Tell that to the Mac users.
- cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11 Lyph4,
Sorry you got dugg down, it was a fair question.
From a business standpoint, one of the compelling new features in Vista is the way it runs the system event logs. They are rendered as XML, so can be read by other tools outside of the event viewer. They can also be filtered on much better, so you don' have to wade thru hundreds of "successful" or "information" messages to find the one or two Errors that you are really concerned about.
The administrator can also set up automated tasks to happen when specifc events are triggered. - IamTheProfessor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10So how did an article about the Vista skin turn into a Mac v PC bashing session?
And I can guarantee you there isn't a response in this world that will fully justify why 98% of the comments on this article are Mac v PC trash.
How about this as a legit comment. "Yeah, because it replaces your system files. Be sure to make a system restore point before installing this." - smojo12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'll give it a try. I have a feeling I'm going to be uninstalling it in about an hour
- Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Reminds me of Linux, except it's free. Score.
- saifatlast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I also installed this and found it to be buggy and obnoxious. When I uninstalled it, it didn't remove everything, so a lot of the various dialog boxes and whatnot on my PC are still Vista or half-Vista, half-XP.
Yeah... just sayin', be careful with these thing. You might like it, but I sure as hell didn't. - cyberwiz01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10My personal favorite:

Calling Vista an update instead of an upgrade only shows your ignorance and bias. Thanks linux fan boy. - SLeepdepD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Make your XP System look just like Vista!" -- "And hose your Windows install in the process!"

- Novagenesis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Articles about Eye candy on Windows always turn into PC vs Mac
Articles about eye candy on linux always turn into Linux vs Windows with a few mac toss-outs.
All remaining articles about windows turn into Everything vs Windows
All remaining articles about Linux turn into Windows vs Linux... except the rare few that turn into stupid Linux vs Mac arguments.
Thus is the way of things. - Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@LucianSolaris -- Will you Linux nutjobs please STOP equating Vista's *support* for DRM'ed media with actual DRM built into the OS? Vista doesn't render your existing un-DRM'ed files useless, it just lets you view files that Big Media refuses to sell to you unprotected. When you can watch HD-DVD/Blu-Ray discs and record encrypted HD content in MythTV, Linux will represent some kind of workable alternative. Of course, when that happens I'll be busy waving at the flock of pigs flying by my window.

stop arguing about mac vs pc - mouthster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11"Yeah all very well, except most people who want to use a computer are:
a) Not homosexual
and
b) want to get work done
A MAC doesn't fulil either of these criteria"
It's Mac. - thispleasesme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ Nalo21 and ***** -
***** hell. Please don't start the vapid Mac vs. PC argument. Both are good platforms for different uses that share a lot of common functions and features. Some people (not necessarily gay, meaning me, a straight male) use a mac, love my mac, and don't like using PCs. That means nothing more than that: I simply prefer it over a PC or other alternatives. Same goes for those who prefer PCs to Macs.
Pull your 13-year-old head out of your ass and stop being ridiculous. It's a ***** computer. Apples to Oranges. It's all good, punk. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@Fluffyarmada:

- SamiJam, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Nothing can beat the Windows Classic style theme...
- gleem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I guess the ironic part to this is that when I installed the RTM version, I wanted to change the look back to classic. the vista theme has some ooooh and ahhhh to it, but really nothing special. I would rather take speed and performance over the ooooh and ahhhh factor.
- wickedsun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Uh? WRONG!
Chuck Norris can. - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Do you really think they give a damn?
- bill.clark, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Oh my god! A Vista theme for XP?! I've been waiting AGES for someone to finally make one!

STFU!" - estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6.. besides all the problems it looks horrible compared to Vista. There are so many small details and things this just gets just plain wrong and looks horrible.
- livejamie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5or you could use litestep and do it with a fraction of the resources!

- FluffyArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I agree with thispleasesme... and I must say, It doesn't really help *****'s case to pull gay-bashing out of nowhere...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4> So how did an article about the Vista skin turn into a Mac v PC bashing session?
Same as every other article.
One guy said 'Or get a Mac' about four posts in, and that unleashed the hoards of sensitive Microsofties rushing to defend their platform by accusing the Mac platform as being "homosexual".
And back and forth they go. It's absolutely hilarious. Then again, what else are people going to talk about? - markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That is fugly.
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4And let me assure you, it'll take you that long again to uninstall it. I tried an earlier incantation of this and it was a royal pain in the ass to remove.
- Novagenesis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My god, litestep still exists?
I remember at least 4 seperate systems upon which I tried litestep in increasing version numbers.
Stability was so horrible it made Explorer feel like Gnome.
That is to say, once I dumped litestep, my windows sytem hardly ever crashed in comparison.
Nothin personal..but...UGH... -
