- rwheeler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I love the powerglove. It's soooo bad!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26That ***** owns
- Coppertop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17get two, right and left. After a little creative key mapping and practice, you would be the ***** coolest geek to ever have walked the earth.
I need to get on this. If my friends see me controling my computer with two power gloves, they will probably ***** themselves. It would be sweet. - flizzoyd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Stop pretending you can spell.
- Moocat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This does look pretty cool but I think you'd need more functions for it to be playable. For the most part it looks like he can move forward, spin around and fire (possibly jump). Maybe with some more functions mapped in and a lot more wiring he could get strafing and figure out how to get around the problem when your hand runs out of room (no such thing as lifting up your hand to reset position!).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"I think you'd need more functions for it to be playable."
No kidding. In Unreal, you've gotta be able to jump, dodge, dodge-jump, dodge off walls, etc. in order to be an effective player. While it may not be much now, it looks like it has a lot of potential. - bigboy101011, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11owns is an understatement, just imagine that at a lan party.
POWER GLOVE MOD FTW - OIF2_IFTE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8As much as that rocks, I dont think you could play for long without your arm getting tired. But I digg it.
- jasonuher, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I really like this. I was disappointed to find its just a gyro-mouse stuffed inside a power glove :*(
Wheres the custom microntroller/gyroscope code?
Oh well, it works well and looks awesome, I say rock on! - shatters, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@CaughtThinking
I doubt moving your arm around is going to provide any significant amount of weight loss compared to a regular exercise routine. I mean, if it did, then just about every male in the world would be slim... think about it. - CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The powerglove FINALLY gets props.
- HereComeTheBugs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Direct link to youtube incase zerosign.net goes down
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FslQ5tnXrjw - sert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5thats what I was thinking, just use it with a keyboard
an even better option that I heard about a while ago was using a tablet PC to control the view
then again UT requires a lot of wild maneuvers, but in counterstrike I'd bet it would give you a big advantage - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5sure, but how do u turn around (360) ? you really can't
you would have to have a function where if you aren't holding down (lets say) your middle finger, then you don't turn (just an example). don't get me wrong.... it still is freaking sweet - Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah i bet after useing it for a few months you would have a nice beefy arm :P
- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6why is that bad? we're too fat anyway, maybe some physical activity would help.
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5he modded a gyration air mouse and keyboard to the glove, this is how he accomplishes the gyroscope functionality. you can see the receiver sitting on the desk with a little antenna, from the looks of it the gyration is an older one the new receivers are a lot smaller
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No need to map more buttons. That is what the keyboard is still there for (might as well use your left hand to do something)
- csprech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5makes my arm tired just watching it!
- CubeFarmDrone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Someone that owns a modded Powerglove already has a beefy arm from all the time he is spending alone playing Sexy Beach 2
- bigd063, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Now he just needs a VR headset.
- discoloda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if only you could find those VR goggles lying about, or get some old VirtualBoy :p
- Yoda716, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's cool but looks really hard to use. Maybe if he had a bigger monitor, like hooking it up to a 40"+ HDTV, it would work better.
- ramd3z, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree from the competitive standpoint. It's cool, don't get me wrong. But I don't see how it can stand up to a high precision/sensitive mouse setup...Your arm can't move an fast or accurate as your wrist/fingers. I'm sure it has it's applications and is at the top of the 'borg-like gaming scene.
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Technically Impressive but I don't think I would want to use it.
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Well it's completely not functional.. Can't move fast. And your arm would get tired, and not from exercise, but just from holding it in the air for a long time.
Cool to look at, but not to use i'm sure. - as2003, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Very cool, but looks like it would be impossible to be competitive with it. It seems quite laggy, doesn't allow strafing (perhaps use it in conjunction with a keyboard?) and would be tricky to keep turning in circles.
- finn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2closer to my dream interface, but i dont quite believe it...
1: the 'original' power glove used a couple of sensors that were mounted on the corners of the TV to detect the glove's position in space, where is that in this? (yes there's the mod to the mouse and whatnot, but the gloves positioning is still being used for camera movement,, or so he claims which would still need those other sensors.. and dont even say the little ONE antennea there is it, you need 3 sensors to detect position in 3-D space)
2 whats his other hand doing? it doesn't show up in the video at all and he DOES keep looking away from screen occasionally...; i could be wrong but i think his other hand is really the one conrolling some aspects, such as the camera thing as mentioned in 1, the trigger and finger movements could quite possibly be legit - mattcoady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Neat for games but image using this for windows apps, Minority Report style....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The movie "The Wizard" starring Fred Savage.
- cryonix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What they need to do is mount a screen on the glove so you can have full 360 spherical movement, but that ***** would be heavy holding up your arm. so is a BFG i guess. that would make it more realistic? bah, people need more exercise anyway.
- sert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the nostromo pad is so pointless and stupid. theres nothing that makes it more effective than a keyboard, in fact I would say a keyboard is much more effective because you can still type easily and you have more keys nearby
- sert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well then if its a matter of being comfortable you could use the numpad or arrows
dear god, for your own sake, dont buy a nostromo pad. such a waste. if your out to get an edge in gaming the money is much better spent on a good mouse. - Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, It does look "cool" but I doubt he could win that way, the main issue I found was that he had to aim his arm to all the way left of his screen, to be looking foward on the screen, I belive it is because he tied "360" into the glove, only faster, but still to be looking at "10/360" he must aim all the way to the left or the right.
I my self could do a LOT better with mice, so.. I think a bit more work, and a way to support the arm so It won't get tired, then you'll have a chance at winning. - sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1perhaps with the pinky finger?
- n00854180t, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This with The Claw ( www.claw.com.au) in your right hand would be awesome.
- LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4the 80's were cool! Think about the snap bracelets, the vans slip on shoes, and fannie packs for gods sake!
- Ifligus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool idea, but impractical for games. I mean, just watch the video. Rotate left, left, left. Okay now I'm facing the direction I want to go. Now, start running down the hall with my arm across my body. Oh look, a door on the left. Hmm, cant move my arm further left. Oh well, I'll just go right.
Guess it needs a way to temporarily disconnect the sensor to mimic the equivalent motion of picking up the mouse and moving it. - nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or just play rad racer in a nes emulator with it. I wanted to do that with my nes soo bad.
- Spastastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1While that is pretty cool, it would look like my arm would hurt after a while from holding my arm in the air like that for an extended period of time.
- Dragular, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Methinks Fudge didn't get the reference...
- dnaspydir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wow, that's an awesome use of an old gyration mouse... i have often wondered why they don't come up with a gun, or a stylus to use with their keyboard and mouse combo.
- BigG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can take a game pad like the nostromo to map additional functions to the rest of the main glove and functions to a second.
- Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1See how cool that is? Imagine being able to do something like that with the Revolution controller=)
- n00854180t, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bleh, meant left hand*
- steger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1does anyone have a non-youtube link? They blocked youtube at my work. :(
- BloodShed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Imagine playing a game like Black & White or Command & Conquer now that would OWN ^_^
- bman212121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was kind of thinking the same thing, once you ran out of rotation, then what do you do? I could totally see using this with another glove though, and be able to stand in front of a Big screen tv to play unreal with, and not be confined to sit in front of the monitor.
- velo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uh, where is that phrase from?
I just know it from being sampled at the beginning of some 'Horse the band' Song.
Thanks in advance. - deechi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I want one
