- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+53Why do you care so much about what your console looks like? Honestly, does it MATTER how 'fashionable' your console is?
- Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -11/+46More importantly, why would you buy a ps3 if you cared what the console looked like?
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24It's a Gears of War mod.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19some of these are beauties...
- EquinnoxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Wow i had no idea the xbox360 modding scene was this huge.
- MiDri, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15girls love shiny and glowing things -- it is a fact of life.
- MiDri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I thought it was preaty cool... Looks very retro military.
- gabbagabbahey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I like the '***** up' much better.
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7He never claimed these were his you troll
edit: I'm sorry, I look like a troll myself, but your comment just didn't sit right with me. I saw this as a way for these great designs to get noticed. That's what the modders wanted I do believe. - nate5182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I thought that was the best one.
- qbix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Hey, one of those is my design! I remember a guy saying he was asked to aribrush a faceplace using my artwork but I never heard from him since. Oh well, it's not like I'm going to sue, but perhaps I should attempt to make it myself:

original idea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/qbix/24515588/in/set-560438/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You do realize that most of those were made by taking the plastic casing off the system, making modifications to it, and then re-attaching it, right? Even if the system itself died, that wouldn't in any way affect the outside of the case, where the actual modding was performed.
If they bought a replacement console, it wouldn't take much effort to swap the cases or re-add the neon lights or anything else. - BrandonR717, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Am I the only one who thinks adding windows and lights is stupid as hell? I mean, I can kind of see the appeal of painting it, but jesus... the windows are just so ugly.
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was hoping to see one with a backward's Halo 3 logo, but I was sorely disapointed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow... one of those is mine -_-
http://www.flickr.com/photos/59855303@N00/343379132/ - c0nrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like the more simplistic mods. I would probably end up just cutting a clear window and putting some nice green CC's in there.
Here's one of my old xbox's: http://preview.tinyurl.com/yxpbsj
It takes a bit of time and patience, but the end result is nice :) - CaptainEO, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Cool and all, but what happens when you get the red lights of death?
- manzk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm curious......where in the description and title does it say that these mods were done by xrambo or "this guy" at all?
edit: just beaten by Terc - Thuktun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Personally, I'm going to look at what the box displays, not how the box looks.
That just means I'd never spend the money to do this, myself. I don't disparage others for doing it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The best ones are the ones without too many holes carved into the sides -- the ones with little additions to the surface (like the mod that makes it look old and trashy) or interesting color combinations (glossy red is my favorite).
Cutting shapes into the sides of the case is a really lazy and uninspiring way to mod this thing. - xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought my little brother got his hands on a 360 and painted it with his Little Tykes paint set.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2stockjones: "Jesus with the money some of these guys spend on the console, modding etc, you could buy a decent PC, config it the way you want, do a lot more with it, and actually learn to use a computer that will help you in a real job."
Most of the people who get involved in this can already afford and likely own a decent PC, configured it just the way they want it, and probably know better than you how to use a computer (or, at least, electronics in general). The fact that they have the money to do this means that they also probably have a better job than you, too. - idesic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually is does matter what the system "looks" like. MS and Sony are selling the boxes as a home entertainment add on and not just a gaming console. You think the 35-55 year old market cares what they have displayed in their living room entertainment center?
- EasY_TargeT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wait till your warranty is up?
- PhairOh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I doubt you're the only one that thinks that, but I must say that I disagree. While not all the windows are as equally successful in my eyes, I do like quite a few of them. I especially like the ones that reveal just a portion of the DVD. I imagine that while lit up and spinning, they look quite awesome.
- BurnYourEgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a shame that in order to appreciate a good portion of these mods that the people have to play their systems vertically. From working at EB Games I have seen dozens of discs become heavily gouged to the point of being unplayable from playing the system upright and having it jarred just slightly. As a recommendation to anyone planning on modding their system make it look good on the horizontal or be prepared to risk buying multiple copies of the same game.
- punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haha you're kidding right?
- SocketNine3Nine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Modding is about personallizing your 360 or what ever your modding, why do you think there are people who mod there computers? cars? its because its personallising, eye catchign and uuber bragging rights.
- Valnar300, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I myself "modded" (by that I mean painted) my 360... both the faceplate and the case. The case paint job is inspired by the story that was on here a while ago about a guy who got his 360 run over, but it still worked. Enjoy.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d82/valnar300/Xbox%20360%20mod/Picture001.jpg - craive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought that's what he meant. What happens when you send one of these in to get fixed?
- stevey5036, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1^ Agreed, the Half-Life one is my favorite
- ynggrsshppr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you get the red lights you're SOL because Microsoft ain't going to give you a replacement. I'd rather have a plain jane 360 with the 1 year warranty.
- jbrown101st, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the style of this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/59855303@N00/343381012/
Kinda goes into a more original approach - BlogTekGuru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A lot of them is are really nice. The one you linked is actually quite nice (Gears of War) just depends on your taste.
- jamison18, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7i look for xbox 360 that have a pussy magnet
- riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Modded consoles? What next? Modded computers?
Hahahaha.. wait.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most of you people are so jealous...damn PS3 owners. Why do people crack open their systems to make it look different. Well why do people put rims on their cars? And tint their windows.
- Valnar300, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nope
- zdiggler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What warranty? First thing I do with my electronics is find void the warranty. My kids 360 warranty was voided in less then 1hr.
- c0nrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://forums.xbox-scene.com
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@jamison18: if you give me good price, I can thrown in this "magnet"
- IamTheProfessor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do they have tutorials on how to safely take the case off your 360 without screwing it up so badly that you can't put it back on?
Some of the controller mods are pretty neat too. - roadies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't believe Ben Heck's mod wasn't included. His is easily one of the top 10, and probably the most beneficial mod too since it effectively makes the 360 a 19" laptop.
- TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, those are some nice ass mods. I don't have a 360 yet, but I hope there's plenty of sites out there to give me some instructions on modifying mine if I get one. That all metal one is just too mean to be believed!
- Sharkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a bit partial to the University of Texas one... Hook 'em.
- Chordonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Basically it's called, 'Void your warranty in 6 easy steps...'
- nytrogyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd rather buy one of these from ebay than a retail xbox 360.
- leland1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone see a mod for the Gears of War game? That would be cool. Bullet holes, chainsaw rips into the case, the Gears of War skull stamped into the side of the case with the insides glowing red? Red splashes of paint reminisent of blood from a melee battle with the Locust Horde? I wish I could be more talented with my hands to do the artwork I've seen on this slide show. There are many creative, talented people to design the images for their X360's, then to realize them utilizing fine craftsmanship -- that's hella cool! Thanks for sharing the images. A great slide show.
- leland1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, wait until the warranty is up... and since Microsoft has extended the warranty on all Xbox 360's to a full year,
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1222-xbox360warrantyextended.htm
to match both the PS3 and Wii warranty periods, that's a while to wait before starting the mod. But for the most part, if your X360 is a lemon, it'll probably reveal itself within several weeks. Are you kidding? These X360's are built like rocks! : ) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Window after window after window zzzzzzzzzzz
