- Al3x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10All I can say for half of these is brilliant. I like how it's DIY and uber cheap.
- DeFex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I wish they would not call simple mods like attaching some power bars on to a desk a "hack" it is a simple modification. I think it kind of devalues real hardware hacks which require at least a bit of soldering. and a lot more imagination than "screw a power bar on my desk" i mean power bars are actually designed to be screwed on to things so half of the "hack" is already done.

- grendel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Door stoppers (the angled wedge type) make for great notebook risers that help with circulation and reduce strain while typing.
- oMega505, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The letter tray network rack is a very good idea. One of those, "why didn't I think about that??" ideas.
I am sure that if Linksys or some other company comes up with a similar product it will sell like hotcakes. - Crimcheck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Hey, I really like the pegboard thing as well. Hello weekend project.
- InferiorWang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Back when I had a working laptop, I would always slide a couple pencils part way under each side to lift it up so it would cool better. It worked pretty well and I always had a pencil in reach when I needed one.
- UlicBelouve, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, it says in the article that it was used for cable management.
- K4P741NxKRUNCH, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1One of the coolest things I ever made was a laptop stand out of an old motherboard. I was taking apart an old machine and it had a really cool metallic red mobo. I used different tools to take off all the components and had to de-solder a few, but I finally got it level. I then took some mobo pegs that hold it to the case and put the rounded side up on half, and the rounded side down on the other half. This was so it didn't scratch the surface it was on, or the laptop. It came out really great! The small amount of elevation allows you to put cables under the mobo so you can reduce clutter.
- lolcat77, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's probably the pens with the flowers on top..

- much more comfortable height
i also have a telephone directory underneath propping up the front - theres still a large gap underneath for cooling - and so the sound doesnt bounce off the table (distortion) - Loshunter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm currently using an old door as a desk extender. But I'm extra lazy. The Door handle is still in place at the back of the desk and I'm propping it up with my real desk on one side, and two of those big plastic storage containers one gets at walmart stacked up. Its great cause I'm storing a bunch of stuff in the thing holding up my desk.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1now they just need a use for area of the door handle
built in pen holder? - Roamer22, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0the door as the office desk looks great - what a good idea, tons of desk space and cheap too - i want to see the visitors faces when they come for a meeting.

- Hosalabad, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Wow, prop your laptop up on corks. Or you other hand. Or your mouse. Or a few pens. The coffee cup the pens are in! An Ipod! 4 Blank CDs!
I bet I could keep going and get my own top 10 list. - hoisen, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0So I'm probably not going out on a limb to say that it's not such a great thing to have already adopted most of these practices over the years.
They all have yet to impress the women folk. - llaurentsmith, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Use trash = more cash
