- nonpareil, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Good luck with this...I'd be careful when offering beers to the unwashed masses. They can be, uh, unwashed.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17eh, at least she's cute. If I were like, 10 years younger I'd do this just for the drink.
Too bad I don't live anywhere near California either :/. - DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If this were done by a fat guy with thick glasses, it wouldn't get any diggs.
She put in the picture of herself and submitted it to digg because she knows her target audience very well.... way to prostitute yourself online for hardware. - Kiel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Dude! seriously, chill out
- mississippiman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17dude, chill. At least she has "balls" enough to try and make some money. We can't all count on our moms to give it to us like you do.
:D - bigd063, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"Want to give a lot of money? The greatest contributer will be rewarded with this awesome Zip Drive (250 GB!). I'll even autograph it for you, with love."
I'm guessing she ment 250 MB. - MikeHerrmann, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15show us boobs
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I agree 100%.. but hey.. if you got it, might as well use it, right?
Girls have it so easy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15lol...small penis syndrome
- Stompp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Dugg simply for this comment at the bottom:
"My old computer will be donated to Cameron's mom. Don't worry, your laser-etched ad will probably be around longer than your internet company!"
edit: and yeah, cause she's hot. - DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9And what if she never collects enough money to buy a Macbook Pro? Will the people who expected to have their ad etched in get their money back?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I'd like to punch you in the face. Don't ask questions. I just want to. :)
- fletchowns, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Wow she's hot. I wonder what she'll do if you just buy her the laptop? =0
- Rayza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Too many suckers, not enough time..
- GNiMeLF, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11100quid if i can feel your left breast
- spoooon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Many collegiate studies have shown that 5 years is becoming the standard for a BS degree due to a large number of students that are full time in the work force instead of full time students...
- Bigcat1021, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12"she's just taking advantage of guys that think she's pretty"
You're observation is correct, but if you are surprised by this, then I've got two theories about you:
1. You've just had your heart torn out by a woman.
2. You've never spent any time with a woman. - AcidBath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7A bit off topic, but has anyone ever looked at the bios for the brains behind Squid-Labs here: http://www.squid-labs.com/people/
Lot of smart mofo's working there. She could probably get her laptop just by giving one of those rich geeks a BJ. - MoFoKeR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7yea cute girls can take chump-o techies dough....youd think of how old her other mac is she'd already saved for a newer one....I upgrade to a better pc every year or other ..and then again im not earning programmer wages...less dolce & gabbana purses and going on drinking binges ...and maybe you can save a penny or two ya damn broad...
- TheMrEman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Or, jump on the Myspace profile (before she makes it private)
http://www.myspace.com/leahculver - DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7RTFA she says she has access to the etching machine at work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Girth isn't sure why, but he thinks it's rather silly.
- Asbradley21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Also, why not opt for something a little cheaper?
- ldandersen, on 10/12/2007, -11/+16I know the girl. It's not spam.
- DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11This is the submitter's web site. Why is the submitter writing the description in third person?
- Wikki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Several colleges require a year of coop/internship on top of 4 years of classes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Just because you know the person who is spamming doesn't mean it isn't spam. Of course it is. What is the difference between this and blog spam?
- killdashnine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5To make it better, I'd suggest that she demonstrate her respect to her potential sponsors by hanging out at Panera Bread, Starbucks, or other public WiFi spots for a certain amount of time each week (particularly during rush hours). The cost of coffee and bagels may have an impact on things, but such is the cost of sponsorship!
Good luck! - Steveo117, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Get a job and pay for it yourself.
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6This is spam, mark it appropriately.
- DMedina, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7A quick facebook search brings up:

Party on Leah! Go get that computer "however" you can... Check your wallet after she buys you those drinks guys! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10She's cute.
- ryansac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5$30 for a beer! That's more than a stripper's drink.
- johnlark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's interesting how everyone here knows this person. I guess it explains why this digg made it to the front page. Best of luck on your sale.
- lava, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@adamsucks
I don't understand. What do you get by telling people not to give her money? You don't know this chick, and her laptop is in no way going to affect you. You need to get out more. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's their own fault for donating their money simply because she's cute.
- MoFoKeR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4but then a stripper can buy a mac in 1 or 2 days.
- MoFoKeR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4you sir have single handedly put a kink in her master plan i applaud you
- johntsien, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I can't believe the amount of cynicism and venom this has spawned. I personally think the idea is quite creative and funny. Would I give her $150 per square inch? No (though if I wasn't married, I might take her up on the $30 drink...), but this is no different than people who sell ad space on their cars to companies who pay for their gas.
Yes, she is an attractive woman, but so what? Are we so sexist that the only 'pure' or 'worthy' hokey Internet success stories we are willing to conscience are ones from men? (I'm thinking of One Red Paperclip's Kyle MacDonald here). We all have different talents and attributes - and the fact that she's an attractive young woman makes the story more marketable but doesn't make me think this is any more or less funny as a concept.
I think it's great that she's kept her old computer for six years (seems fairly thrifty to me) and can certainly understand about being broke. My friends all left grad school with over $60,000 (one has close to 90K) in debt from our 2 year MBAs alone. Even earning post MBA salaries, our student loan payments are non-trivial expenses.
I dug this because it was amusing and funny and commented because I think there is an undercurrent here that is about more than people being upset about her potentially making more money off the ad than the computer is worth - which, in any case, I don't begrudge her because you DO get what you pay for here. She's not trying to defraud anyone.
Rock on... - Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5this is like prostitution, or a stripper
taking advantage of desperate men - ttony, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm not a hater but I'm tired of seeing people try to get something for nothing. What's up with this "virtual panhandling" trend that we're seeing lately?
With all due respect but look sweetie, you're not in college anymore - you're an adult... go into a credit union and take out a low interest computer loan.
You can also deduct parts of the cost from your taxes so there's really no excuse for this *****!
GROW UP! - nixdoctor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dear God, make me a girl in my next life. And fill my brain with such money-making ideas. Thank you God!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Read the article.
"Instructables is located at Squid Labs and I have access to their laser etching/cutting machine. Click here to see other laser etched laptops." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9DO NOT GIVE THIS GIRL YOUR MONEY
Macbook Pro dimensions:
Height: 1.0 inch (2.59 cm), Width: 14.1 inches (35.7 cm), Depth: 9.6 inches (24.3 cm)
14.1in x 9.6in = 134.36 sq in
134.36 sq in * $150/sq in = $20,304
Are MacBook Pro's really that expensive? Or is she just trying to profit.. well lets see here. I vote the latter.
I'm not much of a math person, but I'm pretty sure my figures are correct. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Keep in mind.. You'll never meet her.
- brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"You're the one that has to live with being a piece of *****, not me."
Exactly. So let the hot chick earn her money already! - ukmountie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've figured it out.
Macbook Pro 15" - $2899
Boob Job - $15000 - Absolute0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What is the point of this, though? I don't understand. How is anyone going to benefit from this? The 3 or 4 people that happen to see the back of her laptop in a day?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5One of the reasons she will succeed is because she is hot! :)
