- TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+74Wow a 8 second video of him using it INSIDE HIS HOUSE. This guy is obviously not mentally stable.
- luaplevap, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64Doesn't it bother anyone else how he seems to be testing in the middle of his living room?
- verifex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+52What the hell was that guy thinking?
"Hey I like flame-throwers and legos, but how can I make something that combines my love of fire and legos?" - civdis24, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48seriously haha.
"Hey, lets play with legos?"
"But you're 25..."
"Shut up bitch"
"Ok fine. But I feel like playing carelessly with fire"
"Fine. We'll make a flamethrower... Out of LEGOS!"
"Awesome!!! let's use it INSIDE!"
"Good idea." - WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40He's thinking he wants a LEGO flame thrower, and he has one.
What have YOU done with your life? - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38I smell a Darwin Award winner!
*cough cough* - TheSaladMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Made of plastic Lego? I'm suprised it doesn't melt!
- a1cshowoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Great, now I gotta build one....
- sbovisjb1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23This is what happens when the kid and the pyro inside of you meet!
- halosniper7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19but...no lasers
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Or is he ingeniously insane?
- MrScience, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16No worries. You press the legos tight enough together, and it'll hold back the explosion!
- spiffytech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That's the great thing about Legos. Once you have an idea, you can build weapons of chaos and destruction from the same pieces of plastic you've had on your closet since you were 4.
How far can we go before Legos are banned on airplanes? - rockwolf2001, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17mentally unstable?
or pure genius?
i say genius - Tunguska, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I'd give an arm and a lego for one of those!
- Solenoid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11There is indeed a very thin line between insanity and genius. This guy is insanely genius.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9My plastic lighters don't tend to melt either. He's running it on butane, which makes a nice yellow flame, but isn't that hot, relatively speaking.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9What's the deal with all these people testing their homemade flamethrowers indoors? Out of all these stories/videos I've seen, ALL of them have been tested indoors.
- irstoopd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Fire, cool. Fire shooting out of a object made entirely out of plastic, inside of a house? Not... very cool? It's a good idea, though.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Or sharks, for that matter.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9in case you were wondering, this is a GOOD IDEA.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Ditto. In the house? Crazy.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -4/+918. Still play with Legos. Will continue to still play with legos. I am also an engineering student.
- epu2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7and you would give another arm and leg to use it
- t0ny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I want one!
- hinterteile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3He probably meant that the only things he listed were for the construction. He might have held a lighter or similar up to it for ignition.
- GeneralChang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ah yes, fire and Legos you can use them both to do many things, all of which look cool.
But there are many things in life which look cool, but actually are not.
Like a man with a one leg, or a hook for a hand.
I digress, and to those rebel daredevils who endeavor in throwing caution to the wind and build your own I salute you; with peg legs, a peg arm, and a hook for a hand. I salute you! - BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah I would like some detailed instructions.
- PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2All flames are hot, but not all are hot enough to melt plastic from a distance.
That better? - karebu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow. lego didn't melt. it would be good if we can have a closeup though.
- ad0beaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i don't get it what causes the actually flame? where is the spark ? he says he only used Lego's , a piece of string and a bottle of lighter fluid...
- TNHitokiri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Am I the only one that wants to see the instruction manual for this?
- V1ncent, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Coming up - making a flamethrower with a Sony battery and a Dell Laptop...
- PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think you got that backwards:
Fire shooting out of an object made of plastic while indoors? Cool, but not a good idea. - Xibalban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually wasn't thinking that much. We were drinking some beer one night and while others were building LEGO cars and such I built a flamethrower.
- Xibalban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"When the pressure dies down the flames can shoot back into the bottle and explode"
That's not true. The butane gas from the bottle dies alot sooner than the pressure. I have done many of these ;) - Xibalban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't melt becouse of the pressure from the butane bottle keeps the flame far enough from the plastic.
Check out my original web site for more info: http://www.markuspuustinen.com/homemadeflamethrower/ - blackhand0114, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1To bad he has to die to win it...
- Xibalban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, it’s me. I am the idiot(savant ;) ) who built this.
More info on the flamethrower on my original web site:
http://www.markuspuustinen.com/homemadeflamethrower/ - csGeekGirl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4i hope no toys were hurt in the making of this video!?! i didn't see any disclaimers and worry that PATE (people against toy executions) will be on the flame thrower like white on rice!
- BurningWater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is so awesome, *adds to x-mas list* hahaha.
- legomanland, on 03/15/2009, -0/+0All thats needed is some bread on a conveyor belt or maybe some marshmallows.... and I thought the design of my website was clever using Lego as a theme http://www.legomanland.co.uk guess I need to think a little more out of the box!
- MikeMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Using a flamethrower made out of plastic indoors? What an idiot!
- khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Did you watch the video? Do you see how far away the actual flame is from the nozzle? Plus, the endothermic reaction of compressed butane being released at such a high rate would've chilled the canister of butane, and hanceforth chilled the legos around it as well.
- MrEggsalad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Heh, now, that is just cool!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1take a look of the video, it's only 3s, way to exaggerate..
- consoneo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I wanna know what he was thinking using the pressurized butane bottle... When the pressure dies down the flames can shoot back into the bottle and explode..
- jimbo92107, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Feature suggestion for Digg: Offer a way to filter out any story that has the word "Lego" in it.
- boywonder, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Someone has way too much time on their hands...BTW it is way cool.
- a3r0, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2What does this one smell like? Burnt flesh?
