- FlyMolo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Here's a video of the table in action.

Better: http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/16/the-led-table/ - Settra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Meh, looks tacky. Good idea, though

http://www.prntscrn.net/img.php?img=LEDtable.jpg - Pentarix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep, this one is much nicer looking.
- ralphmalph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2OMG !!! Ponies !!!
- frem001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well since it's just a demonstration of an idea, i would have used clear acrylic and drill holes half way through it to insert smaller led lights and I wouldn't use wood like that.
- abbtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Have one of those on the Patio and one of these in the Den :)
http://hackedgadgets.com/2006/03/28/led-disco-bar/ - ZogDog, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1Wow, so few comments from way back when...
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1greg-j: The table video reminds me of Pinball machine. The cat didn't freak out by the lights.
- erudite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What happens when you snort gear off it or have someone curl a Mr. Whippy on it? These things I would like to see...
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too much Disco Floor Look.. It could be made to look better, with some styling, but I wouldn't want one, the way it is....
Cyborg
yes for the attempt - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2that looks lame, if you love veagas so much live there
- niner9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Michael Jackson already did this in the video "Beat It" ; )
- Crazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ohh, Pretty Colors!
I tottally want one.
If I got it, I would probably stay up at night to watch it, for the first night (I did the same when i got my lava lamp) - scrapstyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know if I can eat on that table. Probably useful for parties and such.
- Icecream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 It does look kind of tacky, and more info on it would have been good, other then just a flickr photo. But it is still a cool. I would like to see have well it responds to movement.
Diggable - emb3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's such a pimp table. Belongs in Quagmire's house.
Giggidy giggidy...allllriiighhhht. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1um.... tacky
- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My gay uncle is getting one. He loves the 70s and lavalamps and such.
- durdana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice
- oskay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The lights don't do anything unless there's significant changes above the table. Most of the time, when we're eating, the lights just stay constant. When you reach over to get your glass, then it might shift from one pattern to another. The table looks pretty crazy in the video clip because three people (well, two plus a cat with a very active tail) are activating the table at once.
- DIGGADEEP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a LED bar that was made was much better..had a dance sequence that was computer controlled..similar to a dance floor.. cant find the link, might have been a MAKE page
- Ssandman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The table looks cool and all, but other than the fact that its jsut a table, and the flashing lights might give me a headache after a while, its not the kind of idea that will be in everyone's homes...
- oskay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, we built the table around the size of the glass desk top that we had, and deep enough to hold the electronics. Most importantly, there had to be enough vertical space under the table top for the light from the LEDs to spread out a bit. We probably spent about as much time building the frame as the electronics-- cutting, shaping, staining and (especially) sanding take a long, long time.
Also, ours cost at least 32.75 k$ less to make than the beauty at http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/16/the-led-table/ =) - ggog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0but it's so ugly...
- ralphmalph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2why? why would i want this? perhaps good if john travolta comes to dinner and decides to bust a move up on the table (if the legs are good and strong) remains to be seen, but otherwise? i mean it's very close encounters of the third kind, isn't it? what am i not getting? help me, please. is it, "you know you're getting old when you can't understand the benefit of dancing christmas lights under the tabletop" ?? i just picture the kids going nutso making the lights dance at dinner and then it's milk all over the table. next spills the salt, and then bad luck for everybody because it's too soggy to throw over your left shoulder. this is a disaster waiting to happen. bad idea.... baaaaaad idea.
- zengonzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
I can't figure out how it is responding to motion .. It looks mostly random. - boredzo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2flickr is a blog?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2What will they think of next... colorful lights on trees?
- Icecream, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, lights on trees does sound crazy, hey that sounds like it would be some kind of festive thing....meh it will never take off.
- ConceptJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You guys miss the point. They did it _because they can_.
Besides, people like me who are weirdly obsessed with colored lights, can dig this kind of thing. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Maybe for people who are on a diet. or something.
- clumsyninja, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yeah, I just want to eat. Don't need a distaction. I prefer light colored "wood" tables.
- Author, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I thought this was going to look tacky, but it looks great!
I really like this idea, very nice. - Moses, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Why would I want this?
It looks like a disco floor instead of a place to eat food. - planetsweet, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Yeah, I expect you could've done it much better than that...
- michaelburns, on 10/12/2007, -15/+8Nice :0) wouldnt mind having one outside on a patio...
