- lucidapathy, on 10/27/2008, -0/+28FOUR EASY STEPS!
Step 1 - do these 7 steps.
Step 2 - do these 4 steps.
Step 3 - do these 4 steps.
Step 4 - do these 6 steps. - FTLJohnson, on 10/27/2008, -2/+27Welcome to Digg. Tech tips used to make the front page much more often than this... Let's make it a trend again.
- ligyron, on 10/27/2008, -2/+19For Dummies™
- mozert, on 10/27/2008, -0/+16YOU SHOULD MENTION THAT THE RECIPIENT STILL KNOWS YOU SENT THE EMAIL FROM YOUR PRIMARY ACCOUNT. This is seen in RETURN-PATH: and SENTBY: headers and displayed by the mail client.
- lulzitsadigg, on 10/27/2008, -0/+15Some of us separate our personal emails from our school/work emails
- TheGuruStud, on 10/27/2008, -1/+15On the other hand, if you like all of your accounts separate, but want to stay logged in all the time and switch back and forth easily, install the Gmail Manager extension for FF.
- inactive, on 10/27/2008, -2/+15You're right! How would you look for something, like, say, the reply button!
- vofuse, on 10/27/2008, -6/+14Congratulations on learning how to use filters. Is it 2005 yet?
- fangorious, on 10/27/2008, -0/+8GMail includes the Sender: header pre the SMTP standard. Each MUA is free to due whatever it chooses with this field. Outlook happens to display the retarded "on behalf of" combination.
- kjcdude, on 10/27/2008, -1/+8i've been doing this for years with my work e-mail. They only allow pop3 and want it limited to outlook only, but i can't stand outlook and the inability to easily sync to my phone so i use my main gmail account and have my work e-mail all sorted through there. SOOO much easier then outlook.
- W00dyW00d, on 10/27/2008, -2/+7I hate how gmail uses the "on behalf of" when you setup other email address to send from.
if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, when you send out messages from your account using another email it says your email but then it say sent on behalf of your gmail email address. - SexyPopMachine, on 10/27/2008, -1/+6Buried for inaccuracy. Sure, there is 4 steps, but then there is a ***** ton of more steps for the main steps.
- diemunkiesdie, on 10/28/2008, -0/+5The forwarding method is retarded. Enable POP in the other gmail accounts and set the main account to receive the email from the other accounts via POP!
- jb12321, on 10/28/2008, -0/+4I didn't know it did this. I guess all my work emails looked a hell of a lot less professional than I thought :-(
- HonestAbe, on 10/27/2008, -0/+4Yes! This is the only reason I still have to sign into multiple accounts. I should just be able to "send as" another account, but nooo, it has to expose both email addresses in the header.
Gmail should log into your mail server and send mail from it, instead of sending mail from gmail servers and including a "Sender" header. - Greengoo, on 10/27/2008, -0/+3surgery*
- demodawid, on 10/27/2008, -1/+4What a dick.
- chaos7, on 10/27/2008, -0/+3so what. not everyone has the wealth of knowledge that you do.
- HonestAbe, on 10/27/2008, -0/+3It applies for any secondary account. The mail is sent from Google servers regardless of address, and uses the Sender header to indicate who it's actually from, so it won't be flagged as spam (server and From address mismatch). It's not visible unless you look in the headers or use Outlook (which writes "From x on behalf of y")
It's stupid and a violation of privacy. They should remember your external login information so that you can sign into your email service's non-gmail SMTP server and send it from there instead of gmail.com. - saadkamal, on 10/27/2008, -4/+6AWW.....This feature has been inside gmail for so long.
- james.mattson, on 10/27/2008, -3/+5You figure things out by searching... the settings page is almost always the first thing i try to find with a new app or site. Isn't that the geek mentality?
- Tychee, on 10/27/2008, -6/+8I didn't know for this before and I have few Gmail accounts so it's useful for me.
- fivehorizons, on 10/28/2008, -0/+2This extension is the greatest thing ever for someone with multiple accounts. I have a gmail account for personal stuff, school, work, and spam and can check them all in a matter of seconds using this.
- BKarlgren, on 10/27/2008, -0/+2Does this only apply if the secondary account is not a gmail account? I've been sending emails back and forth between my primary and secondary accounts (all gmail) and I don't see anything that refers to the primary account. If I'm being stupid, please explain. Thanks.
- nyr633, on 10/27/2008, -2/+4"How do we look for something that we never knew existed."
Easy, trying taking your head out of your a.s.s - fireashes, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1I have been doing that for a long long time.
- ultrafez, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1Unlikely.
- clarafi, on 10/27/2008, -4/+5Thanks for the tip.
Email is hard. - IntriguedMexicn, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1***** off McFly
- Memnochxx, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1This is a ***** method, it won't label correctly for BCCs.
- Otto, on 10/27/2008, -1/+2Yeah, I use my own domain and such for personal accounts, but if I feel that a client would not respond well to it, then I give them my real.name@gmail address instead. But it goes to the same place on my own domain, using Google Apps for Domains and tricks like this one.
- jjfac, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1Me too, especially the part where the author writes about linking Gmail accounts. That was good.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1Sometimes, I just can't help myself... This was hardly a triumph but I consider it a success.
What's next, are they going to teach me about dem newfangled real simple syndication feeds I been hearin' so much about!? - inactive, on 10/27/2008, -4/+5i like the part where you link gmail accounts
- suckanucka, on 10/27/2008, -6/+7I knew how to do this at least 100 years ago.
- HonestAbe, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1Although sending from Gmail's interface exposes both addresses to your recipient...
- HonestAbe, on 10/27/2008, -1/+2how is babby formed
how girl got pragnent - HonestAbe, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1How do you sync gmail to your phone?
- Darkaged, on 10/27/2008, -2/+2wtf is an wtf?
- brandita, on 10/27/2008, -6/+6Rocket science.
- cece65, on 03/02/2009, -0/+0Nice software to manage multiple account with Gmail.
http://www.lerisorse.com/software/Romanelli-Gmail- ... - mozert, on 10/27/2008, -3/+2Agreed.
- DjArcadian, on 10/27/2008, -7/+6I'm waiting for Google to develop someway to check Hotmail. ***** Microsoft.
- nyr633, on 10/27/2008, -3/+2read the comments retard. thats not the feature that everyone is going bananas over. Besides, what I said still holds true. Digg, a place where people used to have more computer knowledge than the average person, has turned into a "how to" site lately. The sad things, its usually on how to do the simplest of things.
- gospe1337, on 10/27/2008, -2/+1Now if only gmail had mass forward button
- wigenite, on 10/27/2008, -3/+2Does this prevent your other accounts from being purged do to inactivity?
- Alphabet, on 10/27/2008, -3/+2It's not about mail forwarding retard.
From the article:
You will also be able to send emails from both email accounts from the Primary email account without ever having to switch to the Secondary email account. - inactive, on 10/27/2008, -3/+2wtf is an internet?
- drgmdp, on 10/27/2008, -5/+3that's what i mean. it would have been insulting to post this in the old digg... anyone who lurked enough could have found it
