7) Try to figure out what you need to do for step 6 to make all devices work properly in Linux and try to compile from scratch.
8) Scratch head, Reinstall XP and enjoy proprietary driver goodness in order to stop losing hairline over stupid Operating Systems. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+231) download Ubuntu, or other Linux distro

@schestoldbuddy: "Not the right place to post this, I suspect. Watch how you drop to oblivion..."
And doesn't he deserve for being a troll? - phase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12No-one hates Ubuntu. I like it and use it for certain tasks as well. What I personally hate is an all-knowing Linux troll saying the best way to fix your problems with Windows is to install (insert random linux distro).
That is not a reasonable solution for 90% of the people out there. It isn't even a solution to the existing problem in the first place. It's trolling, and quite annoying. - Piku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mysql gone to coffee break (WordPress database error: [MySQL server has gone away])

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You TOO want to be buried into oblivion, don't ya? I suppose morons like you pisses off even some (reasonable) Apple fanboys...
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If someone wants to change the UI, why would you switch to an OS that's even harder to change the default UI than Windows is?
..I'll stop jabbing "fanboys" now
http://www.osix.net/modules/article/?id=549 seems to be a similar guide (changing start-button text). I've considered changing my Start Button to something shorter (a > symbol maybe), since I normally just shove the mouse at the bottom-left and click. But, I've never gotten around to it

Customize the clock and start button. GPL'd and doesn't require messing with critical Windows files. Does add a bit to your memory load, but not enough for most people to worry about.
On the other hand, this Resource Hacker program has some interesting possibilities, too. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This will return a gazillion records... :-)

Someone who was all knowing would provide a legitimate solution to the issue, not a workaround that would create more issues for the user. - chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2my solution:
throw your PC/Mac?whatever out the window, then go live the life of the millions ov under privileged Africans who don't have a computer, no matter how bad it is. - Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I already have a nice looking start button.
- gravylookout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does someone know how to edit bitmaps to record transparency information?
- SrLnclt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Welcome to 2002

- jbrannic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WHERE 1=1? when is 1 not = 1?
- falloutsyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My favorite way to change the start text is to use REGtoy.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/RegToy.shtml
You simply type in what you want, click restart, it kills the explorer process and reimplements the one you want. You can do a mirriade of other things as well, one of my favorites being, have your system do defragment when it goes idle. Happy Hacking. - JK124, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1If you want a new start button a different look and feel try flyakiteosx. I think it was posted on digg about 2 weeks a go. But too lazy to seach for it.. It slows the computer down a bit though..
- owenadam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I'm definately new here, new enough that I don't even know what I hate about Ubuntu yet, but please, someone explain it to me.
- Holosoth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2uh oh. Duggmirror didn't even get it. It only got half and none of the article.
- chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2buy a mac. simple, isnt it?
- nickishappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@1021
You're a troll by doing the same thing as the post you're replying to.
Troll - Daveoh, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Almost... check next time

you are just mad because we are all-knowing. - arbulus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0naio21: What exactly is that supposed to mean?
I honestly find the description of "Apple Fanboy" rediculous. Those who are hardcore devotees of Windows PCs are just as vociferous as anyone else. So, by that logic, it makes you a fanboy as well. And if you reserve "Fanboy" to someone who is "venomous", then there are plenty of Windows users who can fall into that description as well. So keep your venom to yourself.
Obviously my post is in a jocular tone. I would never expect someone to actually toss their computer out a window. - ryanfelix, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3http://www.duggmirror.com
edit: I dont think this works...GHEY! - schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -30/+21Not the right place to post this, I suspect. Watch how you drop to oblivion...
- haooken, on 10/12/2007, -21/+10I'm tempted to create another Digg account, just so i can digg you down again.
- arbulus, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1Here are some steps to a better looking desktop:
Shut down your PC, unplug it, and toss it out the window. Go buy a Mac, plug it in, and turn it on. Immediately you will notice how much more pleasant and enjoyable your desktop is. - Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -91/+15How to replace the Windows start button:
1) download Ubuntu, or other Linux distro
2) Burn to disk
3) reboot
4) start install
5) install
6) enjoy, and remember how much faster steps 1-5 were then reinstalling windows

What is Digg?
