- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51Depends on how you view LED. If you pronounce it "Ell-Ee-Dee," then 'an' is appropriate. If you instead read it out as "Light Emitting Diode," then it should be 'a.'
Life's too short, folks. - capitocapito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20@jjb123
I can't tell if you're joking or not...
Either way, "an" comes before words that start with vowel SOUNDS. - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22http://duggmirror.com/
Wordpress has failed us once more...
Edit: pplante beat me by seconds. - SanjayM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Problem with the video is that you can't see the persistence of vision effects due to the camera's frame rate.
- barnis, on 10/12/2007, -15/+28make __AN__ LED Christmas Tree
- daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I don't think the video captured the effect he was going for.
- doyadigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"I'm overclocking my fan..."
I think that and the shaky cam did it for me - CLucas916, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16should we tell him?
- doolin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Ummm uh.. I.. uhh make.. ummm etc. etc.
- psylence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Wow. A shaky video, horrible speaking and a failed persistence of vision demo because it's hard to film that with ***** equipment.
This is pretty high on the underwhelming list. - Laser1234543, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Wordpress error, and duggmirror doesnt have it either.
But here is the video that the page has, from youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgLhllDEzWU - 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7what awful camera work
get a tripod if you can't keep the subject in frame! - hungryJonJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The guy is horrible at filming, please stand back a little further.
And he sounds out of breath, wtf? - bean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I thought I saw an 'S' near the end of the clip
- akinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4My public speaking professor would have shot him, twice.
- Guitarsenal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This, ummm, guy, er.. um.. is the, ahhh, ummm, poster child for, ummm, errr, Toastmasters
- spingk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4From The American Heritage Dictionary:
The form of a used before words beginning with a vowel or with an unpronounced h: an elephant; an hour.
This title here is: HOWTO Make a LED Christmas Tree. Using the above definition a is correct because it does not begin with a vowel or have an unpronounced H. Howevere gromnie does bring up a good point in that if you pronounced it El Ee Dee then 'an' could be correct. I will always see 'LED' as light emitting diode though and there for will continue to use 'a' with 'LED.' - hungryJonJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@zedomax
What does the time of day have to do with being out of breath?
and why didn't you stand back so we could actually see something? - mightycbu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i think he was spankin' his monkey while lookin' at his ubernerdy christmas-tree. maybe that also explains the stuttering.
- Suruxia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Seriously.
I was thinking at the beginning "Man could this guy say 'uhh' any more?"
. . .he proved me that he could. - PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's directions below the video...
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that's true, i was thinking it was "an", for some reason, i had to go with "a"
- coryjb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got a headache from watching the YouTube video of this.
- maj0rm0j0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why are people digging this? I give the guy the effort, but c'mon!
- smfrick, on 12/16/2008, -0/+1We just got a tree from http://christmasfarms.com, now I have to figure on how to make it fit on a PC Fan, but the needles really hurt when it starts spinning.
- jdelamater, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Where does it show us HOW to make it? It shows LEDs on some plastic strips and a motor rotating. For a novice like myself, seeing one is not enough to produce my own.
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah yeah yeah, the point is the christmas tree, not my grammar...
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1right, i need a better camera, will you donate me one?
- bab7880, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It may have just been me but i thought i saw
"HOWTO Make a LEGO Christmas Tree"
I thought that would have been much cooler then this
EDIT: After seeing the video, I know that a LEGO tree would have been cooler - zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah yeah yeah, i know...
- NathanLoehlein, on 07/27/2009, -1/+2And of course, I meant jjb is incorrect... or gromnie is correct... one of those two.
- MrMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah as said above -- the video sucks because of the cameara's natural capture frame rate.
If he had looked at the video before hand... yeah he could have fixed it or made it watchable.
Ame thing if your using a professional camera and your trying to capture a CRT/LCD monitor.
-- MrMacMan - zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1check out christmas wreath!
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yes i was out of breath due to the fact that it was 12am when i finished the project, other than that, it would have been better if i had some bong rips.
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yes, next time we will stand back more!
- LovelyMonkey, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0wow, it sucks, I just bought at Home Depot and using Home Depot Coupons at http://www.couponmountain.com/Home_Depot-coupons-d ...
- desdinovaguitar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5what....is this.... i can see the vague shape of a tree, and what looks to be lopsided lights, and supposidly it says merry Christmas in there somewhere...
- suckrpnch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah... too bad that video sucks ass. if he would have just backed up a bit. suck.
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1okay maybe i meant and "Light Emitting Diodes".
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah ***** you man, i got a voice too
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1server updateeeed with more memory, i know it should be spelled, "updated", but sometimes i like to misspell on purpose...
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1updating the server with some more memory right now, so it should be okay soon, i didn't expect to get this much traffic...

Err - yes - err - obviously - erm - right.
Quite what he is on about with his - erm - 'P-O-V' I'm not too sure.
Point Of View ?
Pile Of Vomit ?
Poorly Operated Videorecorder ?
Pratt On Valium ? - NathanLoehlein, on 07/27/2009, -8/+7jjb is correct. Think of 'hour' or 'herb,' both start with a consonant, but because they have a vowel sound they are preceded by 'an' not 'a.'
- tmurf, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2lame
- jayscot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I'm going to sue because xmas trees are offensive to me.
[huddled in the corner]
[sniff] - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2..no it's not.
