- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Probably better than the iPod headphones...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Sweet Jebez!
Look, I'll pitch in 15.00 for a fund to buy these kids some cheap earbuds. No human being should have to go through through life with sub-par headphones.
For the price of a cup of coffee you too can ensure that a child has the ability to have earbuds with good upper midrange and treble spectrum and full, rich bass. You can bring comfort and relief to mothers who are desperately wondering how they will be able to use their UNICEF brand mp3 players. But most importantly, you can be a shining reflection of Christ’s love for those in need of some killer noise-canceling headphones. Oh sure, you put it on a nice To-Do list , thought someone else would take care of it. But here they sit. - calabria, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10lol i can't help but think, damn thats ghetto. heh >.>
digg for a cool do it yourself! - Aurarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8How can you read digg and not have a soldering iron..
for shame. - unre4l, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8One word, grammar.
- dattaway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Going one step further is to make the headphone speaker elements:
http://www.exo.net/~pauld/activities/magnetism/speaker.html - willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Hell yes, everyone should.
Hell, when I was 12 I built my first computer from a kit. (Of course, back then building a computer meant soldering, today its more like legos).
I've currently got like 4-5 soldering irons for various tasks. The most recent being soldering a new power connector on a friend's laptop and fixing the lights on my boat trailer.
Every 'hacker' I know owns several. - perryge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5DUDE...those are...ghetto headphones.
I was cracking up when it said 'Put the cable on your head', I was actually taking it seriously before that. - Lobster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Excellent. I remember the day . . . before walkmans. I had a big portable radio with stereo from headphones. That was a great feeling walking around with stereo. Now kids are building the headphones - how soon the players? . . . Anyone build a crystal radio? That sounds sweet - no batteries required . . . do they come in stereo now?
- bobpaul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I want to know where he got the speakers from... an old pair of headphones?
- largobargo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What a great idea, I just finished my rubberband handsfree cellphone mod, now i'll get started on this.
- saroth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.duggmirror.com/mods/HOWTO:_Homemade_headphones
- habibcs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4only the fun part basically, for enjoying the music you do need to spend $$
- muyuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or you can bring a Harrison to your local Radio Shack.
- fusenmuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yea, pretty much.
I am in highschool and I have three.
If you are going out to buy one I would also suggest buying a DMM. You never know when you could use one. - unre4l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, I did in fact mean grammar. I lost the humour if I tried to write "Two words, spelling & grammar".
- dknightbatman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this is a great project, I will definately try this in the future.
- cybersamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is only making a hardware case and mount points for the speakers. i thought it was going to involve making the speakers too.
- bobpaul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@Unre4l-
That's the funniest post I've read all day! You wanted "spelling". Not the same at all. - LucasVB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I made my own too, but it was much better than this. I used industrial ear protectors and some recycled foam for extra external insulation. Now I just wish this town sold the parts I needed to make it wireless... Oh well, at least I have 5 m of cable... :/
- Shiggen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Though not very stylish, very AWESOME!
- Ayavaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same here. It's not really much of a tutorial. I was hoping I couple learn a bit about how speakers work and make some ***** speakers in the process, but unfortunately, such was not the case.
- ummagummas08, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1because the guy who made this reads digg . . . .
- Cyberdactyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love it.
I'm getting ready to upload and share my toilet roll dispenser made with a coat hanger and nails as well as how to reuse tampons using my patent-pending recycling procedure. - dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0....I can't help but keep thinking...."that really doesnt look too safe" ....
Very cool DIY though. :) - spectrox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'd have to give him a standing ovation if he could make speakers from a goat bladder and iron ore.
- dH2K, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You should build a v1.1 revision with a third speaker as a microphone but in this case you will need an additional jack plug. Also branding is important so some kind of copyrighted name is important to attack the competitors in the market in long term.
- alexthebeast, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0So easy,,,,,so fun....so cool
- safer9999, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Start a designer headphone company.
Neal Saferstein - u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1ill stick with buying them for like 8 dolla'z for the cheapest pair of panasonic headfone, less labor intensive, smaller, and better quality, still quite skillful
- JackSpratts, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0i guess.
- js. - nayr, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2it's up again. Damn, I hate stating the obvious.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3***** at 72 diggs :/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1one word geto
- azharc, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Yup, everyone has a Soldering Iron around the house right?
- sgtpinky, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3@Geterix
Not sure why you are being modded down - I am wetting my pants.
Also, your nick, 'Geterix', is one of the best I have ever seen. I learnt a fair amount of German by reading Asterix & Obelix in German :D

What is Digg?
