- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That looks like crap. Bad design, bad architecture, not really worth the time/money.
- sporkwitch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yeah, it's too bad those aren't pics at the very top of the linked page......retard.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Doesn't it seem like there's way too much free space in the case? That thing looks like it's about two times as large as your standard PC
- hammanrj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4pretty cool stuff, but a side window is enough for me.
- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Plexiglass was sooo 2004!
This is a nice build, but not too great to look at. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5What a horrible "How To".
It should've been called, "How to build a plexiglass box and screw PC parts onto it". Seriously, that was horrible. Why are you digging this? You couldn't figure out how to use brackets to make a box yourself? - CarlosReyes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this isint really it, but still an article on getting a regular LCD screen, and building it into the case.
http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/LCDWindow/LCDWindow.aspx - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hell I just strip all the plastic off my computers and run wide open metal cages.
- JQP123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The problem with plexiglass, it offers no shielding. Use a TV, radio, monitor, cordless phone, etc. too close to this case and you may have some interference problems. Most PC cases are made of metal for a reason.
- Hyperion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do you mean the TransTFT from Metku Mods? http://www.metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/transtft/index_eng
- abbtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Next step is to fill it with oil :)
http://hackedgadgets.com/2006/01/10/pc-cooling-with-cooking-oil (watch the video!!!) - samsite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3at least some one here has taken the time to do somthing differnt, wether its to every ones taste is a differnt question, digg just for the effort, and because i know how diffcalt it is to cut the stuff!!!
- JustMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought that was a cool article back when it was posted, but why exactly was that made into a video. That was the most pointless thing to film ever. Ah well. Cool.
- coilx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Build this 12 hours before FWGG lan party. Hung out with the guy that ran pimprig.com. It was fun and I didn't want to show up with my lame white case :)
12"x12" "PC Game Cube" haha
http://gallery.pcapex.com/showphoto.php/photo/1098/cat/504 - retard098, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4that's a ugly case :-/
- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Im sure that cant be too thermal-friendly....
- MagikalGiraff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No offense, but that case doesn't look very good at all. If it were in proportion with it's interior components, had some kind of colored lighting inside, and had some design or drawing on the Plexiglas then, and only then would it look good/okay.
However, I guess it is inexpensive and can be customized later, so the case isn't all bad. - Meowmix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I did. The reason for that was putting the mobo on the base of the computer... There are some heat benifits, but it shoulda been made shorter.
- GeneralChang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2very ugly, could have saved money and space with smaller pannels.
BTW who still uses floppies? - darkmisery, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Old case, done a few years back if I remember correctly. Note the reference to the Apple Cube (2000) Don't think it's been on Digg before though. Pretty cool for a custom job though.
- spinalcracker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1UMMMM... Inexpensive???? If you add up the costs he listed it's $299.23... for a plastic box that looks cheap... you can buy one for way less than that... No Digg!
- BeatJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ahhh, memories. I built a plexiglass case from scratch back in 2000, and I used glue. Mine is a standard tower layout with a couple of unique features. The front and left side panels of mine are piano-hinged at the bottom. The front panel has a horizontal brushed metal handle and opens like an oven door to provide access to the drives. I also embedded some metal window screen under the motherboard to serve as a ground plane. I remember heating a spot with a butane torch, then pressing the screen into the plexi with the head of a roofing nail. I did this in several places to make sure the screen stayed attached and didn't lift to touch the motherboard. Looks pretty cool actually.
I never did make a web page about it. Too bad. :) - boxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Holy Dust Bunnies Batman!!!
- MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yours looks MUCH better than the one linked. I'm about to undertake building my own plexiglass case and used google to try and find some pointers. I came across this case and thought to myself, "What a horifyingly ugly, poorly thought out case." It is obvious not much design or creativity went into this and it never should have made front page. Your case, on the other hand, while still cubish (which I usually hate) has a very good design to it, especially given the time you built it in.
- cakefart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ugh, you might like the way this looks for a month or two, but after prolonged exposure to light, oxygen, and heat, this case is going to look some 7 year old did it. :-)
This is a horrible material choice for a lot of other reasons, not to mention scratches. - thatautguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it kinda looks like something out of a cheap 1950's scifi movie if you ask me... but then, I never really understood the whole obsession with making your computer look like the equivalent of an ugly pimped up car.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm sorry but the case is ugly and I'd like to ask that you never build another case again.
No digg for no style and lame build. - SonofMaug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2He specifically said he took the easy way out by using brackets intead of "glue". Plus, plexiglass is NOT that hard to cut with the proper tools. This case may look "differnt" but "differnt" does not always mean "better" or even "good". Plexi cases are supposed to be about having the insides look good anyway, the insides here look mish-mashed and un-thought out, he would have been better off leaving well enough alone. I give a C for effort and a D- for results. By the way, there is a spellcheck on the comment window, why do so many people seem to ignore it? "differnt" aside, "diffcalt"? WTF!
- prot0col, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"I'd drop a fishcake in my pants"....wow good times!!! NOT
- howittsdone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yep that's it hyperion thx
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You can buy completely plexiglass cases for not much more than the price of a regular case. What I don't get is WHY you would want to?! A window is stupid enough as it is - much less an entire see through computer. If you don't give a ***** about EMF or airflow and cooling, why not build a case out of marshmallows while you're at it?!
- howittsdone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Anyone know where I can find the laptop screen that was encased in plexiglass to be used as a lcd desktop screen? I'm sure I saw it on digg but can't find it. thx
Not a fan of the entire plexiglass computer case. - bigp169, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1who uses via....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Agreed. Kill it with fire!
Is it just me, or are tower-shaped boxes in general ugly as sin? They're more than a decade old, at least. Apple, "shuttle," etc. boxes are remedying this, but IMO someone really ought to tell PC case designers about a little something called the golden rule. - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2VIA CPU. No thanks sir.
- samstr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Ohh wow, thats some impressive stuff

- brandan, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6just a sidenote: i read 'bay gear' as 'gay bear.' is that freudian?
- fuzzmello, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2boo. no pics...
