People who commit suicide by fire usually do so in public as a statement of some sort. No one commits suicide for the usual reasons (i.e., despair, depression) burns themselves to death, they kill themselves in a much easier way.

Has it never occurred to you guys that suicide is a manifestation of mental illness? People with a mental illness don't realize that what they're doing isn't making any sense -- you can't reason with an illness. To criticize the guy for "endangering lives with his selfish act" is one of the most ignorant things I've ever read... anywhere.
I've had a few friends commit suicide over the years. When it's close to you, it leaves you thinking what YOU could have done differently to help them. Maybe if those of you ripping on Nickster had any friends, you'd know something about this thing called the human condition.

If you all remember that gamer who posted in fourms back xmas of 2005 that he was commiting suicide and then it was confirmed. Although i never knew him it still shocked me. Sure i can understand deaths cuase by murder and acceident (ie.car crash , cancer) but suicide is differeant. Treasure everything you know adn experience.

If criticizing someone for endangering lives with such a selfish act is among the most ignorant things you've ever read, then you must not get out much. Mental illness or not, we don't excuse people who endanger other people. Would you let a manslaughter DUI off because he's got an addictive personality? A child molester because he's mentally ill?

Suicide doesn't happen out of the blue. Mental and external factors can lead to depression and other disorders that then may lead to suicide. Yeh, that is a bit selfish, seeing a) he lived in a fecking duplex, in which case he could have set other people on fire on the way,
b) he did like $75,000 worth damage on his own, (lots of money)
c) his family are now in grief
If you wanna suicide, you don't do so by putting others at risk as well i.e. in a car crash, suicide bombers
