- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28We did not use the XMLRPC API.... the XMLRPC API uses my API =p
- Saki89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Wow, this is pretty cool :D
syndication is very organized. - k4st, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Nice use of the Digg XMLRPC API.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Digg didn't come up with this.
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Koncept, you should make it like a number of Diggs for the user's comments if thats even possible. Just an idea.
- Vandelay797, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14And it shall be called diggnature
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Every 10 minutes.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13What's the number of diggs for in the signature? Am I missing something? How do I digg a profile?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11we had that at first but the png file size will hurt our servers -_-
- fatsobob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12A Diggnature.
See what I did there? - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11We'll have different templates you can choose from in a couple days. You can select a template without the digg me part.
- FetalSage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Looks good and all, but 1: Don't like the cut-off avatar, and 2: Use PNG, looks way better than GIF and has a good enough compression.
I did a quick layout:

- dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This is a great build. Thank you very much. How are you going to afford to keep it up though? No ads. No linkback, other than a img based, grayscale url in the GIF. Put up a Donate link. I along with others who 'truely' appreciate this will contribute.
Thank you again.
P.S. Let me know if you need some webspace. We may be able to work something out where we can use some of my space... maybe host the images on another(multiple) site if needed. Just a thought. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10i don't know if I'm going to make that an actual feature, right now its just a random number.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Each one does something a little different which makes each useful.
Diggsig - Gives your Digg profile as a GIF image that can be used on any site.
Digg Card - Gives your Digg profile using HTML (although it uses an iframe).
Digg Badge - A WordPress plugin that generates the profile as HTML on your blog. You have full control over layout and editing the CSS. - seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@JamesWilson
It would be a REALLY bad idea putting a friends count on there. Because then people would just go around adding a crap load of people like they do now. You would just be spammed by friends invites. - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Except Digg Card is HTML inside an iframe that can't be used on a lot of sites, and this is an image that can be used on any site. So really, it's nothing like Digg Card.
- DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wish there was an 'exume' feature for Digg where I can digg pages that I accidentally buried.
I buried this one by accident, and now I can't digg it.
Excellent stuff! - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Or shrink the picture slightly...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8by 10px only.... i couldnt find anywhere else to put it -_-
- Ollin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8and a great way to spread the news of Digg through myspace too because most people will be like.....? *click* :P
- mr_cheese28, on 11/12/2007, -3/+8this worked great for Myspace.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Hmm if I'm not mistaken the png version was ~15kb and the gif is ~1200bytes
I like your design idea. We will have a way for users to submit designs, soon. - aoe2bug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@Ollin
God i hope not... - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Looks good man. Stay tuned for your choice of templates.
- Epixx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hey, Koncep. If you need any more bandwith, I've got about 700gb worth that I'm not using.
- hmemcpy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bah, must reply to myself :)
But I was under the impression that png provides 10-25 percent better compression than gif... Perhaps I'm mistaking... - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6FFF Forward was tried. That font only looks good when the only letters you're using are D I and G. Full words didn't look that great.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You can drop me a line using my site's contact form -> http://www.headzoo.com/contact Then I'll have your email address.
- bastawhiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You mean the one I published? http://serverboy.net/wiki/Digg
That's not XMLRPC, my friend. It's more of an XML data feed. - ToRoE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Excellent, this is exactly what Digg Card should have been. Thanks!
Two comments:
1. can you capture user name capitalization? (ie. 'ToRoE', instead of the current 'toroe'.)
2. and this has nothing to do with you, but what is the Digg rank. I could not find an explanation of what it is, or how it is earned? anyone? I dont't have one... :^(
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I like that idea. It would have to wait about a day, I'm redoing the API tomorrow to support more features. You guys wait and see, if the server holds up, and we get a nice fan base, we will provide you guys with tons more unique features. This is just merely a test.
- drspin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How about Sigg? Siggnature?
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The number is randomly generated, and is really just there for looks.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6make the header bar larger or let the pic overflow out of the box.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3what ever you say....
- xorian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Already using it on some forums! Nice website.
- andrethegiant, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10i concur
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, we'll be letting people choose from a range of templates. Some of them will be smaller.
- hmemcpy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey! The sig looks great! :) Thanks.
Small request though: could you perhaps output the signature as png? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4should work now... stupid me >_
- imdeanlabouty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Instead of making the avatar hang off, why not replace the digg counter on the left with the avatar and username? It's just a random number anyway, right?
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, we're looking to do various dimensions, layouts, and styles. Stay tuned!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3weird... our servers lasted trough the "digg-effect" with ease, a server load of 0.56. - lol -
If anyone is interested in who provides us with hosting, the site is http://binair-e.com. - coldshuts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Great job, it's very user-friendly, I buy it!
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4In a couple days we'll release different templates that you can choose from. Digg signatures of different sizes, different looks, etc.
- DKasler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is insanely cool. Awesome job.
- DrPiranha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What is the font that you are using in the header bar? I like it.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It would be a REALLY bad idea putting a friends count on there. Because then people would just go around adding a crap load of people like they do now."
So..what would be the difference?
"You would just be spammed by friends invites."
Digg doesn't send friend invites. -
