Command and Conquer Soviet Tesla coil recreated in real life!

tesladownunder.com — Remember the game Command and Conquer "Red Alert" and the Soviet Tesla coil? Here is THE REAL FRICKIN' THING! Peter Terren of Telsa Down Under has recreated the Soviet Tesla coil straight out of the game! It took him about 100 hours of preparation to make the models and equipments.

  • Tesladownunder, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6For a lot of people their knowledge of Tesla coils comes from Red Alert 2. This Tesla coil is the real thing and is a single long exposure photo with sparks flying everywhere and zapping an Allied soldier from a distance. Better than the original.
  • inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3This is WAY too cool. :P There was a special on Wired (the show on public television) of a guy that travels the US demonstrating his Tesla Coils and portable Tesla weapons. This version is really amazing. Wheee!

  • Tesladownunder, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1I would like to fix up the technical stuff in the photo like less saturation with the intense light at the base, more yellow sparks (currently only 25% of the long spark) and less extraneous sparks. But I wonder if it would really look better than the sense of electric chaos and power that there is at present. It takes so many hours to set up that I think that is it. So on to my next project ....
