- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6eh geniuses, this is images on the data side. Lightscribe is on the label side.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Now what would be cool is if you could use the last 150MB to print a buncho of text around the edge of the disc that described the contents.
- Craig1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, this is about as useless as ***** on a Bull. How the hell do you use a .m file? Where are the Windows Binaries, ya lazy bastard?
- hadem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can barley see the image on the disk. It looks pointless right now. The image quality blows. Besides, people don't look at the disk, they play them. It is one of those things where it is cool for about 2.5 seconds, and then you just put it into your computer and don't really care about the burnt image anymore.
- spacenettnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is there any stand alone programs that can do this ? I have been scouring the web for the last hour or so. Please help LOL
- Beanis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not very useful in MATLAB... not many people have it. It should be written in some other language.
- Chris_F, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Blah. I'm not working with matlab. If someone converts it to C++ I'll digg this to the cows come home.
- TehOompa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah.. MATLAB isn't really something I want to buy to do this...

- CryingWolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lightscribe does this on the otherside
lightscribe.com - edzz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i dont get how to do this

Seriously? I always thought it was like the T@2... *That's* why they're more expensive. I stand corrected. - polo3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1burke, see link: http://yamaha-online.de/html-section/cdrec/crwf1/disctatoo1.htm
Disc T@2 "tatoo" - t0ny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They stole my idea. Not that I told any one or did anything. But its my idea! :P
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This could be useful for companies to show authencies vs. pirated CDs?
- Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone should build a standalone program or nero plugin that automates this process, like the Yamaha T@2 software.
- hellfyre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1tried this with a 379x65 b/w bitmap. 7 coasters.. worked on #8.
But then I am very familiar with matlab. - hakz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1woah, minutes before coming on digg and seeing this report. I was wondering if that was even possible?
- bmschech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty cool. It occurs to me that the pits on a CD or DVD are close enough together that you could write a hologram to the disc with a little work.
- t0ny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where/how can you get t@2. Google does not like the @. :/
- danamania, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Only vaguely related - another way to put imagery onto a DVD is to stick an oily mark across the surface, *then* burn data to it, and wipe the oily mark off. Huzzah - one DVD imprinted with the shadow of the oily mark.
Of course there's no guarantee the thing won't fail a burn due to too many errors, but this one - http://www.danamania.com/temp/fingerprintdvd.jpg - worked just fine with an oily fingerprint purposely put on before burning, and the data was readable afterwards. Not so useful, but interesting. - Mr.Glass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes, this is disc t@2, but id rather do it myself than shell out money to yamaha.
dugg - sofa0ne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool Effect, might have to try this if I have any time...
- m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another mirror: (a little faster than CoralCDN)

Sorry about the file not found errors. It is kind of hard to fix them when the file is full of a bunch of useless strings like E1DF10288F99001143E7E506 in the URLs. It is better to write maintainable HTML/websites. - NiLeS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@proudmonkey:
It needs the T@2 burner, but from their website:
"Since the CRW-F1 is not a printer (it doesn't use ink to print), the result of DiscT@2 writing varies with CD-R media dye. There are 3 types of dye used in CD-R media:
• Azo: Blue or Deep Blue. DiscT@2 images can be burned with high-contrast on Azo media.
• Cyanine: Light Blue, Light Green, or Yellow. DiscT@2 images on Cyanine dye resemble a light image or hologram.
• Phthalocyanine: Silver or Gold. DiscT@2 on this media resemble a watermark."
So you can use pretty much any CD, but YMMV depending on the CD used. - Lordless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty sweet but seems to be effing time consuming...and I do do things...
- Proudmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does the T@2 need special burners or Cd's?
- dlichteman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1that disc t@2 thing is sweet
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Very interesting. If you consider the spiral and how it widens, and all the other factors, that took a lot of work to figure out. Good job!
- tablatronix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw this done on AOL discs along time ago.
Nice to be able to do it oneself. - GRIMREAPER187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats the yamaha i have i works best with darker colored cdrs or dvd
- abbott75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks that way...
- tj9991, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That's pretty sweet

Nice trick to show Geek chicks in your dorm room before making your final 'move'. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I found greater joy in defecating on my Windows CDs, no hardware required.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0that's pretty sweet

Sure, but do I really want to pay upwards of $1.50 for a blank cd?? Very cool way to do this with out special hardware - chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"Where/how can you get t@2. Google does not like the @. :/"
You buy a Yamaha burner. Then you have t@2. If you don't have a Yamaha burner - t@2 doesn't apply. It is a function of the burner, not software. - RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Oh, it's in Matlab? I might go take a second look at it. Matlab - on the contrary - is very useful because it's cross platform and is in the hands of most engineers/physicists.
- WrecksTXP, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1old stuff
- dlichteman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0dugg already?
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Lightscribe's been doing it for years, the first Linux tools to do it have been out for about two years now.
Old news? You betcha.
