- Twist05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Super Mario Sunshine!
- Samsong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23There is nothing wrong with playing with you Wii in public!
- burkewendt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Yes! A solar powered wii.... why would i want to play outside tho?
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17While not in use, it could charge the battery and then be used again.
If it doesn't need to be plugged in, then it is solar powered. The panel doesn't need to
sustain the system to call it solar powered. - Vicissidude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15So, what's the big deal? My "Wii" is powered by pizza and beer!
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Marked inaccurate. The solar power accounts for a tiny fraction, 10%, of the power used. It's a giant battery that gets a little extra juice from the solar panels.
- scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11A solar powered air conditioner would be nice.
- hobbers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Stupid blog spam.

- griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@Robbh66
Nothing misrepresented here. Lets say I have a cabin with a bank of batteries inside and it is off grid and the batteries are charged via solar panels. I am only in this house on weekends and the power supplied by the sun during the week is enough to charge the batteries so that I may use the house for the weekend.
I ask you, Is this house not solar powered?? - robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No, he's not. Its a Wii that can play with a battery. Oooohh, obviously THIS will kill the PS3 since everyone on earth desires to have their videogames run off batteries.
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Am I the only one thinking 'Waste of time'?
- aapala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This is cool. The only think I can't quite figure out is how the hell they can play it outside with all of that light. I can hardly play with my freaking blinds open since sunlight interferes with the infrared sensor. It's a total pain in the ass!
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I went to your submission and then I marked it lame- just like you.
Hopefully your IP will be banned for making over 20 accounts to digg your story up. - KillerJ59J, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7No.
- sarge96, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I wanna know where the hell they found the Wii.
- Snowspot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm pretty sure that solar cells are unamerican and only embolden the terrorists.
- unicronband, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yeah, that'll really come in handy for all those people who play their Wii outdoors.
- eggo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ask and ye shall receive;
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/06/solar_powered_a.php - MannyHills, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I don't believe it's misrepresenting it at all. All the power is coming from the solar panel, it is not being plugged into any external source. The battery simply acts as a store of the solar power. Any other so-called "solar powered" electronic devices out there for the most part will always use a battery to store the solar power because it is simply not possible to always have a fully reliable constant power coming from the panel. It should therefore be perfectly acceptable to call it solar powered
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Okay, now these Wii stories are just getting ridiculous.
- whickywhickyjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i thought wiis ran on love.........
- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now if they could only design the Wimotes to charge as they are moved around.
- jlebrech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dang it Nintendo, stick a dynamo in the Wiimote allready!!!
- brianez21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe ?
- Tainek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@robbh66
That wouldnt be the same, this runs off juice from the solar panels only, a jeep still needs petrol, no? - alphaterminus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So you are trickle charging a marine battery with a few watts, hooking up an inverter, and saying it's "solar wii"
ok - crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"give these fine gentlemen responsible for the above technological marvel a round of applause. These two dudes have managed to harness the power of the Sun (the bane of any good gamer's existence) and use it to power the Wii, a television and set of speakers."
Because solar power is some mystic secret of the gods. Christ you can buy solar panels at the local hardware store and plug them in. - Guagloves, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2thats pretty cool but its not like the wii uses that much power to begin with
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if they were doing this with a mirror connect to the panel at noon
the reflected light might actually help charge - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1besides maybe showing off your mario skills at a picnic (that actually sounds like a good idea for a family event)
- Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Next is the solar powered controllers, solar powered remotes,........ solar powered houses.... wait they did that already. Solar powered Wii would be nicer!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Just stay away from me while you do it.
- Caliente, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lame story, but +digg for anything solar powered
- kuttfree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1dupe story?
http://digg.com/videos/gaming/A_Solar_Powered_Wii

- cortez_a, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A: Hey, guess what?
B: What?
A: I have a green wii!!!
B: hmm. maybe you should see a doctor
A: ??? - robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2OK Fine. I'll buy a solar panel, attach it to my Jeep's battery, and be in my right to call my car solar powered. Brilliant.
- realclark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2nintendo=innovation
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@griz: yes, the solar panel has to sustain the system to call it solar powered. Saying otherwise is just propaganda for stupid people.
- jirnik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I wish my wii-mote batteries would last that long...
- jedioniram, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2@samsong
There is something wrong with playing with your Wii in public...
The sensor bar doesn't work well in direct sunlight! - robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"The panel doesn't need to sustain the system to call it solar powered."
Regardless, it's misrepresenting it to be something it's really not. - jonjo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2only someone who has made a success of selling snow to eskimos would try and sell that in the UK
i...think...if...i...try...really...hard...i...can...remember...sunshine..................ew..................er..........no it's gone - sarge96, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Yes.
- sarge96, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1He's right though...
- drunkentoad, on 10/12/2007, -18/+6Did you say a solar-powered Wii ???
- Samsong, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1OmG a SoLaR pOwErD Wii!!!
Omg this better not turn into the next "I'm in you A, Bing your C" - LaSepultura, on 10/12/2007, -30/+2Another nail in the PS3 coffin.
