Go to the bathroom BEFORE watching porn. - franksands, on 08/29/2008, -2/+15Number 8 does not make sense. Use a thumb-drive, so you will depend on somebody else's computer. Brilliant. The rest of the list is good though.
- user24, on 08/29/2008, -1/+12the example in number 19 is rubbish - "java -coffee +tutorials" returns the same top three as simply "java tutorials", and it's not like a search for "java" is laden with coffee results anyway!
Suprise! Google is clever enough to know that the "java" in "java tutorials" and "java coffee" is a different java. wow they must be clever!
I'm not saying there's no need for special search modifiers, but only in very special circumstances. - wallryan, on 08/29/2008, -1/+11actually no.......i dont know about your desk but the mess of wires behind mine is insane.
- GliTCH82, on 08/29/2008, -3/+11These are great, but this article would have been much more interesting and fun if it was a Top 20 list counting down to 1, all on 1 page, and the number 1 item was the tip about improving your Google searching and honing skills since that to me is worth more than all the other 19 combined. If you're good at finding stuff on Google you're pretty much set for life.

- pAq6Swad, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3@mdjohnson1: It occurs to me now that I've not yet seen that particular phenomenon (painful/persistent urination following masturbation) discussed anywhere, online or off. Now I have. Bravo.
- BedPost, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Whoever designed that website needs to be shot. They committed so many web sins (more ads than article, more distractions that article, more than one page, etc.) it's ridiculous. Seriously, it's like they hired someone with a "My First Website!" kit to design it.
- Mootabolife, on 08/29/2008, -6/+929. Stop asking 14yr olds to cyber
- noncn4mst, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3I have to recommend Logmein.com. It's super easy and FREE! I love it and use it regularly.
I just wish you could drag items from remote to local. (Can use FTP instead, so no biggie) You can C+P text from remote to local and vice versa, too, which is really nice. - tomarocco, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Yes, it really is that bad.
- tomarocco, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Not as insane as the mess of wires in my head.
- GVR90, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Mission accomplished.

Ad-aware SE, Spysweeper, eWido, AND Norton AV, and thats just from whats outside the start menu. What the hell are they doing at the office? NSFW FTW!
- artfiend77, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2*****, then my prostate's bulletproof!
- spaceshipsix, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2At first I'm thinking "oh man, I'm really going to do some of these things!" Then as I read on I realized how much my life is in shambles and the thought of starting up all these habits was overwhelming. Now I'm discouraged and depressed that there are so many things I'm not doing. Thanks.
- ks136, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Thank you, thank you...
- MtheoryX, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2That depends on how much you read every day, I suppose.
If you only read a few websites a day, a 4 page article is not bad; however, if you read hundreds of sites, academic journals, books, and a couple hundred emails in a day, the opportunity to cut that 4 pages down to a single page is welcome. - ks136, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Do they design their articles this way in the hopes of increasing ad revenues, maybe? I'm truly curious...multiple pages equals multiple ads...either way, I hate it!
- icdapoakr, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2One of the worst things I have to do.
- bstew22, on 08/29/2008, -0/+211. Consolidate Multiple E-Mail Addresses With Gmail

or use Thunderbird? i dunno, i'm not a huge email person, but i have different accounts for my banking or anything 'bill pay" related, and then personal email. I like to keep them seperate, but easily accessible. maybe thunderbird isn't the best option? or there is a better way. but i like it. - naszaklasa, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Replace Your Laptop With a Thumb Drive or iPod? NEVER !
- 5urr3al5am, on 08/29/2008, -1/+31. stop reading digg at work -- instantly become 100% more productive
- FTLJohnson, on 08/29/2008, -1/+3Well, I did every single one except for number 10... but I may look into that now...
That one seems like a bit of a hassle though, but I guess it depends on how much money you could be saving... - dood, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2I think it's the print media editors. Print sells ad space by the inch. So, by measuring out the page width to say, 10", and keeping the content in under 3", they have 7" to sell. The page becomes practically unusable for the user, but who cares?
The main thing to remember when reading magazines, newspapers, watching TV, or listening to the radio: You are not the customer. You are the product. Everything they do makes more sense with that perspective. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2This article is meat loaf filler.
- dood, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Haha, I concur.
One tech habit to improve your life: Visit tech sites other than PC World. - sg1fan, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2The whole article looks like an Ad for Google... wonder how much they paid PCWorld to print it.
- shortyjacobs, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2dugg for Launchy...I have Gnome Do on my home PC and love it, but work makes me use windows.
