http://www.google.com.au/search?q=Zimbra+Collabora ... - mrinternet, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Yeah, interesting my deployment will now be exchange. Mainly because it would be difficult to educate my 80,000 customers why Zimbra is better (even if it is). However, any alternative to MS is good though , being a MS fan boy that I am , because it makes MS better.
Technically, Zimbra looks to have some issues if I want to tie in sharepoint, at a later date. Also there are only 2 support desks on earth.
The USA (for the USAs) and India for the rest of the world. I found the India team VERRRRY good though amazingly good, but unless 4.5 is great and gets some take up (outside the USA education folks where this is more prevalent), then I see them having a sales issue. I can risk it.
Finally, as mentioned, the cost is not as cheap as you would expect either, with exchange on a Microsoft SPLA volume license agreement it costs in a bit less than ZImbra. I will watch Zimbra with much interest. - cquinnd, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1It looks to be a comparison document between Zimbra and Exchange, outlining both percieved strengths and weaknesses of the platform. It does not say that Zimbra is better, or that Exchange is better for that matter.
It does point out areas where Zimbra may have to improve functionality to cover areas of use that Exchange does better, and vice versa. - squidite, on 02/10/2008, -0/+0With Zimbra 5 now available, the FAQ is updated of Zimbra vs. Exchange hosting. Also vs. Google Apps: http://faqs.01.com/#33
- squidite, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0This was picked up by a Cnet blogger, which was picked up by a Zimbra hosting provider, that provided the added analysis that this is only Zimbra 4 vs. Exchange 2007, and that Zimbra's current version is 4.5, with 5 due out soon. http://blog.01.com/?p=336
Will someone please publish this document, before Microsoft thinks better and changes it??? - squidite, on 11/05/2007, -0/+0Comparison of Exchange vs. Zimbra hosting: http://faqs.01.com/#56
Who needs sharepoint when Zimbra 5 will deliver file sharing natively? - mjasay, on 10/17/2007, -1/+0Can someone please download and share the file? I don't want to sign up as a Microsoft partner.
- ExchangeGuy, on 10/18/2007, -2/+0If you are looking to deploy it for your customers you may want to go with an Exchange Hosting solution instead. It can save you quite a bit of money on hardware, licensing and system admin time. http://www.123together.com/ is one of the hosting companies that offer this.
