- calf85, on 04/14/2008, -3/+96It's a cpu fan that only runs when you have XP installed.

- netdroid9, on 04/14/2008, -14/+67I appreciate the need to keep XP for longer, there are heaps of applications (particularly for legacy systems) that Vista can't live up to. I just disagree with the idea that Vista is somehow worse. It's not. It's not only built on a much more stable and secure kernel, it's also much easier to use once you get used to the few minor changes. The search function is awesome, period, and it can only get better now it's been opened up for other companies such as Google. Windows Update is finally fixed (no ActiveX here), and the sidebar is rather handy.
- str1fe, on 04/14/2008, -4/+56I dugg him up and you down just for that.

O IS THAT SO? - ericdano, on 04/14/2008, -9/+43Why should we switch to Vista when Bill said Windows 7 was a year or so away???
- Jenadae, on 04/14/2008, -7/+38The general public : Blinded by eye-candy since 2007
- nullx42, on 04/14/2008, -19/+50Microsoft: You have no chance to survive make your time.
- Bender1012, on 04/14/2008, -11/+41lol at the notion of "Windows XP fans"
sort of an overstatement, users =/= fans - dmurphy, on 04/14/2008, -22/+52that's awesome that the article is from MSNBC.
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -6/+35Except that more often then not, they're not.
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -5/+33Didn't Microsoft already extend it, at least on low cost PCs, for 3 more years?
- joeblow1102, on 04/14/2008, -1/+28I like how you used the word irony and dmurphy used the word awesome and the resulting diggs that followed
- dxgg, on 04/14/2008, -19/+46I bought a new PC with Vista, and it's never given me any issues.
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -8/+35Happens pretty much every time a new OS comes out. People don't want to change. I know people that still refused to use Windows 95 as late as 1998.
- JoshuaH, on 04/14/2008, -2/+28Nice try.
- Destined, on 04/14/2008, -5/+31Uh, because the MS from MSNBC is Microsoft?
- iofthestorm, on 04/14/2008, -0/+25Sort of like a winmodem, then?
- schnikies79, on 04/14/2008, -3/+27New doesn't always equal progress. Sometimes an older tool is still the better tool.
- Elranzer, on 04/14/2008, -0/+24Yeah. I've got two of them in my PC keeping the CPU from overheating.
- str1fe, on 04/14/2008, -2/+26Please, tell me more!
- danomagnum, on 04/14/2008, -3/+27YA, THAT IS THE COURSE OF EVENTS THAT HAS TRUTHFULLY HAPPENED
- Lewie, on 04/14/2008, -2/+24I love the way Digg works!
- scy1192, on 04/14/2008, -8/+30hooray for anecdotal evidence
- Destillat, on 04/14/2008, -0/+21Hey man, posting on digg can sometimes be playing the dictionary lottery
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -4/+25Agreed.
Vista is actually a step backwards. Many of the differences are at the core and its internal security features. They're beefed up far too much that its actually slowing the system down. And they do little in terms of security as recent news ave shown.
The only real noticeable improvement was the Aero interface. Not the eyecandy, the GUI engine.
A few small tweaks here and there, and presto! Vista.
Windows 7 will be Microsoft's apology for Vista. Top executives inside the company (leaked email for Vista capable lawsuit) already condemn the system almost as bad as the general consumer. - HonoredMule, on 04/14/2008, -1/+22Speaking of embarrassment....
- str1fe, on 04/14/2008, -13/+34Microsoft is showing how poor their business model is by actively denying the customers what they want, XP, and forcing on them what they don't want, Vista. Some one needs to point out to them the age-old staple of running a business: The customer is always right.
- thtroyer, on 04/14/2008, -1/+18Either is fine in normal internet discussion. :p
=/= is the lazy equivalent of ≠. - jb55, on 04/14/2008, -9/+25Hey I'm a SERIOUS GAMER and I game on Vista. SERIOUSLY.
- coreyb, on 04/14/2008, -0/+15While you get out your nail gun, air compressor, generator and nail pouch to hang one picture, I'm just going to grab my hammer...
- Kanidia, on 04/14/2008, -2/+17What happened before 1496...?

- iofthestorm, on 04/14/2008, -11/+26Indeed, I've been using it every day since October of last year and it's great.

- makkaveli19, on 04/14/2008, -1/+15the person above you did. but it seems that he wasn't cool enough to pull it off.
- gcnaddict, on 04/14/2008, -14/+28and how so?
