- retral, on 04/25/2009, -26/+494No shortage of mac fanboys on digg, apparently.
- Quicksilver4648, on 04/24/2009, -22/+353Windows 7 is looking great. I never buy a new OS when it releases, I upgrade when it comes pre-installed on a new PC, but I think Windows 7 will be a first. I am running Beta build 7000 right now and eagerly await the public release of RC 1, though I might skip ahead and grab it on torrent.
- pradaaddict, on 04/25/2009, -25/+314Wow! I'm a hardcore mac fanboy but I gotta admit that Win7 looks slick.
- autoy, on 04/25/2009, -19/+276Sup dowg, I put a Windows in your Windows so you can win in your Win.
- ranold, on 04/25/2009, -26/+223I'll be buying Windows7. The x64 beta really impressed me.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -16/+177"And what? The Media Player has a cool new feature? Well, NOBODY uses it, because is a terrible program."
I'll use it at work to stream my library from home. - dungbeetle, on 04/25/2009, -8/+156Or Mac... addresses. Take that!
- zzzpoohzzz, on 04/25/2009, -8/+154first off let me state this: i am a die hard linux fan.
ok now that that's out of the way, my parents would ***** their pants trying to learn linux if i put that on their desktop, i didn't want to spend any money on a new OS and i wanted my parents computer to be legit and not pirated.... so i threw on the windows 7 beta... i must say, microsoft really did make up vista. windows 7 is clean, the new menu/task bar is really nice, and from what i can tell its not that bulky, i built my parents computer on a budget and is no way a super computer, and it runs nice and smooth.
just thought i would give an opinion of a long time linux (ubuntu) user. - oriondr, on 04/25/2009, -13/+130I remember vista.. it turned out pretty well in the end - this promises to be even better.
- GuyHersh, on 04/25/2009, -3/+109Actually, I think he meant he won't buy it because he'll get it for free through MSDNAA. I got 2 copies of Vista Business Edition when I was in school through it.
- pleaseremove, on 04/25/2009, -4/+108Oh grow up. Windows have been around for some time now... as have icons on the taskbar... quick launch is nothing new... Can't you just be pleased it is a decent OS?
- insertAliasHere, on 04/25/2009, -14/+102You wont buy it because MS is making it easier for schools and students to get cheaper copies of Windows and Office and other products? THOSE BASTARDS! How dare they!
- FutureGuy, on 04/25/2009, -7/+92Same here, running 7 beta and wondering why its a "beta". Its a absolutely stunning OS, and I will buy a retail copy for the first time ever. Hope it comes with a deep discount for Vista upgrades.
- twiztidsinz, on 04/25/2009, -22/+97Right off the bat it's got 2 things Mac doesn't:
1). Left mouse button.
2). Games. - bonarez, on 04/25/2009, -8/+67Wait until the ubuntu lovers come around, followed closesly by real unix users
- bdbr, on 04/25/2009, -3/+62The funny part was that most of the comments on that website were raving about the desktop backgrounds, not the features. Do they not know you already can get all sorts of crazy desktop backgrounds on the internet?
- fabio1, on 04/25/2009, -6/+60if your company has a half decent network admin, you won´t.
- Huzsar, on 04/25/2009, -6/+59I dont remember Vista having that much hype. Actually I remember people bashing the hell out of it before it was even released for not offering anything new except for more flashy interface. Sure, some of it was deserved but I don't remember that much hype.
Also while I don't think the Media Player is that good I can think of other players that are worse. - pleaseremove, on 04/25/2009, -6/+59@seltaeb4:
Where did the word adequate come into this? Last I looked I said decent, as in good, worth having, fully functional... how on earth did you read something negative into that. Last I looked your comment was about MS copying Apple and I asked you why you couldn't just be happy that it was a nice OS and stop arguing about what came first and who copied who.
Me thinks you missed the point. - computershack, on 04/25/2009, -56/+108LINUX IS HUGELY *****. Seriously *****. And I've just put on Ubuntu 9.04 on my lappy....
All the benefits of Win7 and a FREE WinXP running in a VM for those apps that you refuse to leave behind. The internet streaming is going to be an attraction for a fair few people.
Nice desktop wallpapers but anyone who wants something other than default usually puts their own on anyway. - HardSide, on 04/25/2009, -11/+62Only 69% of the internet apparently.

- ortucis, on 04/25/2009, -5/+53You play Photoshop too? Oh man, you should try Corel Draw, the graphics.. like next-gen vectors and *****.
- roebeet, on 04/25/2009, -2/+49And Apple's is a BeOS / NeXT ripoff. So what?
- twiztidsinz, on 04/25/2009, -7/+52"the first commercially available mouse"
And yet... they STILL haven't figured out how to get two buttons on a mouse.... - getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -5/+48Nah, I just know about computers.
- roebeet, on 04/25/2009, -1/+41If the upgrade from Vista Ultimate is $100 or less, I'm in.
- Jeezoflip, on 04/25/2009, -5/+45dugg for the wallpapers
- HardSide, on 04/25/2009, -3/+42I didn't miss anything, he edited his post. What a loser, do you seriously go around and troll about how much you hate MS?
His original post was "Who cares?" - FKnight, on 04/25/2009, -3/+42Fanboy: Ubuntu can run ALL your apps!
Me: I need to run Yahoo Messenger
Fanboy: Use PIDGEN!!!!!
Me: I need to use my Webcam on Yahoo!
Fanboy: No you don't.
----
Fanboy: Ubuntu can run ALL your apps!
Me: It can't run [such and such game]
Fanboy: Computers were NEVER meant for GAMES!
--
Fanboy: Ubuntu can run ALL YOUR APPS!
Me: It can't run AutoCAD. It's the industry standard application and format.
Fanboy: Use [insert alternative FOSS CAD app]
Linux fanboys like to profess how Linux can run all of the things you can possibly require, then when you point out something it can't do, they all of a sudden become experts in whatever industry you work in and tell you that you don't need your industry standard application.
Linux fanboys get around being accused of "bait and switch" by virtue of it being free.
And then when you finally corner them and they can't defend something Linux can't do, they bust out with the tired refrain "Well, Linux is DIFFERENT than Windows, you shouldn't expect it to act or work the same." ... minutes after trying to convince me that I can do ALL OF THE SAME THINGS BETTER. - getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -3/+42Idiot
- pleaseremove, on 04/25/2009, -3/+40So you are suggesting it is bad because those that came before it are? Yet again Me thinks you missed the point. Having tried I see nothing wrong with it as an OS. It is fast, stable, works and is full of features I like and find useful. Most of the tech reviews I have seen have agreed so I don't see what you are on about.
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -13/+49Vista turned out great
- JQP123, on 04/25/2009, -6/+42"LINUX IS HUGELY *****."
On the desktop you mean? When was it not? As far as the average desktop user is concerned, this happened the moment Torvalds picked Unix to clone.
The basic nature of Unix is inherently computer oriented rather than people oriented. The only way to un-f*ck Unix on the desktop is to do what Apple did --- bury it --- so deeply that the average user doesn't know or care that it's there. - Maraud3r, on 04/25/2009, -3/+39Too late? Your lifelong dedication to an OS even if other options become available confuses me. What's the harm in trying it? I go to work and spend 10 hours a day developing on a mac. I come home and develop 6 hours a day on Win7. I find I'm far more productive on Win7. Try it. If you don't like it move on. No biggie.
- twiztidsinz, on 04/25/2009, -6/+41Spoiler: Steve Jobs adds a complementary morphine drip to the iDouche to keep the users blissful.
- Rileyluck, on 04/25/2009, -19/+54yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -1/+35Microsoft Office is a fun to play too. I got to this one level in Word where I had to create headers and customize the fonts and all... it was crazy.
- pleaseremove, on 04/25/2009, -5/+38You have your life mixed up if you think software makes your life better. The last time a bit of MS software made my life *easier* was Office 2007, before that it would be Vista.
- abajaj2280, on 04/25/2009, -4/+37LOL
- Maraud3r, on 04/25/2009, -19/+52Why are Linux comparisons even being made? Linux has always modeled it's UI after Windows. Every linux fanboy who tries to convert someone spends their time pointing out how everything is just like Windows. Gotta give em a little credit though, they've held on to 1% of the marketshare for the past 15 years steadily. Way to go!
- Xiata, on 04/25/2009, -3/+35No, like we are not worried about viruses, trojans and other attacks on a supported and finished OS.
There is plenty of software available to protect it and ways to control attack vectors. - Xiata, on 04/25/2009, -2/+34@TylerDuhrdan
That sounds like a video driver issue disabling aero. - nonymous666, on 04/25/2009, -1/+32Windows had the Mac-like icon bar way back in 1.0.

half decent network admin working on a shoestring bandwidth budget. ;)
Must be working in a pretty uptight environment to block media streaming/youtube/etc. I shudder to think there are still companies out there like that. - nurbsenvi, on 04/25/2009, -14/+42I hate ubuntu fanboys, they always recommends you ubuntu saying "ubuntu can do this and do that" I mean ***** off seriously, tell me to use it when I can play GTAIV, Resident Evil 4, Photoshop, Mirror's Edge and what not.
- mohsenxp, on 04/25/2009, -3/+31I have no idea why people hate on Vista.
I'm convinced it is an internet thing only.
OK so maybe games perform 2-5fps lower on VISTA, you require 1GB of RAM and not 512MB like Vista (it's 2009, if you're using 512MB then go get a job)...
Vista is loads better than XP. I can't go back to XP after being with VISTA. So many 'basic' functionalities that XP doesn't have. Vista is a true upgrade, not just in terms of stability, but in functionality.
Vista haters haven't used Vista, it's that simple. - inactive, on 04/25/2009, -2/+30Apple developed?
Apple stole. Xerox has put a hit out on you. - cyberoidx, on 04/25/2009, -2/+30Yeah, me too. (And if you're an IEEE student member, you could get it too)
MSDNAA is an amazing thing, and you get most of MS software for free.
Ofcourse, they do it so that when you start working, you are used to MS software and prefer it, but then again, its free.
They dont give the Home and ULTIMATE versions, but we all know nobody needs those "extra" features anyway.
