- beeblebroxx, on 05/12/2008, -8/+343How do we know this is real?
- cquinnd, on 05/12/2008, -8/+281How can you have a features demo, when the features of the project haven''t been revealed yet?
- lifeinchains, on 05/12/2008, -31/+226Finally some features that Windows has been missing for far too long. I hope they keep it up.
- hesloppy, on 05/12/2008, -104/+288reaching for ubuntu....
- wontstoptalking, on 05/12/2008, -22/+197So did Vista.
- Senn, on 05/12/2008, -20/+193Oh frak, looks like the next overused blog-style website theme is coming from Windows...
- DarthDaddy, on 05/12/2008, -78/+224Yawn!
- cyranthus, on 05/12/2008, -18/+167....thats it? what the ***** was that?
- kev26, on 05/12/2008, -54/+200I remember ogling over the same sort of videos for Vista. I ran Vista for a few weeks and that was it, I'm back on XP. I'm so hoping MS does a better job with Windows 7 but I'm not holding my breath.
- diggB, on 05/12/2008, -8/+143The coolest new feature seems to be the funky Windows 7 soundtrack the plays continuously in the background ...
- cyclonesworld, on 05/12/2008, -4/+98Do you get all this AND Reversi?!
- oriondr, on 05/13/2008, -18/+108lolk, think you got it a bit backwards. Ubuntu has been windowsifying Linux by making it easier for regular people to use.
- JohnnyHu, on 05/12/2008, -34/+111im totally NOT impressed...
- Bustercap, on 05/12/2008, -15/+88is this a joke?
- wontstoptalking, on 05/12/2008, -2/+68Please do so. I want it in my inbox in two weeks. No more than 10 MB, and it'd better be good. Or you're fired. You don't work here? Then you're hired. Now you're fired. Where's my pictures of Spiderman? What do you mean, this is a poem company? Then I want poems of Spiderman!
- ZephyrNinety, on 05/12/2008, -12/+79That is the worst music I've ever heard. Thank you
- dig1x, on 05/12/2008, -19/+82For some reason, I doubt they have a feature-complete running Windows Explorer running today... seems a little early.
This story is *very very* unlikely.
Buried because it is ridiculously false. - Planets, on 05/13/2008, -0/+58We don't. Did the above poster really use the "because it's on the internet" logic?
- shifty2, on 05/12/2008, -3/+62agreed, the disk space analyzer showing how much space each folder takes up is nice.
I have been using Tree Size to do that, but it has to catalog every time you use it, which is slow and sucks.
Task Manager's ability to tell you what apps/services are using up what port and IP destination will be sweet to keep tabs on software dumping data over the internets. - pickles46, on 05/12/2008, -72/+127Does anybody else hate the vista look? I personally cannot stand it.
- romistrub, on 05/13/2008, -1/+46But I'll take both if I can :P
- borez, on 05/12/2008, -39/+89Wow...there's some real innovation going on at Microsoft these days.
/sarcasm - ladbroke, on 05/13/2008, -16/+61Actually, that sound you hear is a loud and resounding, "Meh."
- DigiRaven, on 05/12/2008, -6/+49I love mine so much I sleep with it.
- kagayaki1, on 05/12/2008, -26/+74Can't say for sure until it's out, but looks very evolutionary, just some new features. Sure hope they fix the underlying structure issues. Drivers have been a huge headache.
- romistrub, on 05/13/2008, -7/+53Both trends are true. Features of Linux (I think) > Windows, but usability of Windows > Linux.
If anybody argues the second one, fisticuffs at high noon! - ilikechaitea, on 05/12/2008, -6/+50hmm...I like it dude. Way better than XP's horrible toy-like look. I think Vista's look could definately be streamlined a bit more..less 'glass' all over the place, but I think it looks quite serious, a bit more proffesional...no?
I like the standard black theme, and gone is the horrible '95 grey...
Though I f****** hate the 'vista' image (you know, the greeny one with the yellow light lines) in the task bit of every folder....that is really ugly - merreborn, on 05/13/2008, -4/+43The poster joined youtube two days ago. Country listed as Poland. Only one video, uploaded today.
No indication whatsoever that this is legit. - inactive, on 05/13/2008, -2/+38you are ***** stupid.
- archer75, on 05/13/2008, -15/+53Vista works great for me. Fast and stable. The problem with vista isn't vista. It's drivers. Windows 7 uses the same driver model as vista so it gives vendors a long time to get their act together.
- dig1x, on 05/12/2008, -11/+47You've been able to run XP from a CD for some time. Get over yourself.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -10/+44Chill out people, this looks to be a 'little' fake.
- Pulch, on 05/12/2008, -12/+45As long as they don't try and make it flashy... Function over form any day of the week.
- therightclique, on 05/13/2008, -2/+30Let's work on forming sentences before forming theories.
- Zalyster, on 05/13/2008, -10/+39Look at Leopard's 300 new "features" then.
- Vodd9, on 05/13/2008, -2/+31All those features are available with third-party softwares.
- VPurpmalkV, on 05/13/2008, -6/+35I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. If nVidia and Creative would get off there asses and make my hardware work the way it was advertised to work in Vista I would be 100% satisfied. But as it stands, I still have absolutely not problem with Vista.
- zapperdude60, on 05/12/2008, -4/+340:47 why is pacman in my windows
- delfin1, on 05/13/2008, -4/+31some of those features are already found on xp
- mrsteveman1, on 05/13/2008, -0/+27Actually a few years prior to Vista coming out there was a lot of cool stuff....that never ended up in Vista.
The OS isn't actually BAD, its just not good enough, not for the lead time they had after XP (regardless of why, i don't care, its their problem), not for the large sums of money they think they deserve for it.
The one that pissed me off the most was reserving bitlocker to ultimate, which costs $250 as an UPGRADE. ordinary people could benefit from bitlocker, laptops get stolen all the time, and yet microsoft chose to use bitlocker and a few other features to create and insanely high price point thinking people would JUMP at the chance to spend $400 for them.
Before someone mentions business edition having bitlocker at a lower price, it is irrelevant. It drops a number of features home users would otherwise want, and is thus useless for most people. - Thyris, on 05/13/2008, -14/+43I think it's silly to use XP if you're on a modern system. I was hesitant at first as well, and swore by XP, but the more I worked w/ vista, the more I liked it, and the more I felt that XP lacked in capability. Old systems, I can understand, but if you've got the horsepower, there's some features that will grow on you.
- AdHavoc, on 05/12/2008, -23/+49Great, another 10 or so useless features that I will end up disabling because they eat away 60% of your CPU and RAM.
- NOFXY, on 05/13/2008, -1/+24because the internet told us, duh..
- Alegoo92, on 05/13/2008, -0/+24It looks boring, but useful. I wish Apple would take its charisma and bring back some innovation. Ya know- the little things that work wonders. (Like Vista's audio mixer--- ugh so much envy!)
- delfin1, on 05/13/2008, -3/+28xp has ftp browse, its called explorer...
- Kretien, on 05/12/2008, -3/+25Use WinDirStat, it is amazing.
- Pulch, on 05/13/2008, -6/+25Price, customizability (+hardware compatibility), games, but in all honesty, I was ready to jump on board (at least get a mac to supplement my personal PC) until I started seeing those annoyingly false ads.
Also, I'm not against brand loyalty, but I hate the Mac users who can't shut up about using a Mac. The only time I feel the need to mention which OS I use is when somebody won't shut up about Apple. And I would have gotten an ipod if it wasn't for itunes. - ajb2015, on 05/13/2008, -4/+23..looks like more of the same. where is the innovation?
- DeathGod321, on 05/12/2008, -32/+55Eww, 7 is full of bugs, I'm sticking with my trusty and solid Vista SP2.
- romistrub, on 05/13/2008, -2/+20"ubuntu is fairly easy in pretty much every way"
It is, from my experience, the most user-friendly of Linux distros, but by no means can it compare to XP or Vista. I look forward, however, to the day that it can. -
