Microsoft's IE8 Ad-Campaign is Trying Too Hard [Video]

gizmodo.com — A woman pukes all over her husband after rooting through his browser history. The moral is that he should be using IE8 for private browsing... Because IE8 is the only browser on earth that does that, right?

  • warp99, on 06/25/2009, -2/+15Or you can have separate logins for everyone in your family. My wife is a very smart women, but she's what I would call "technology challenged". The last time I gave my wife root access, were talking computer access not the other, she screwed up the system.

    Now she only gets a regular account. When she cries why I normally say "give you access to root and 10 minutes later smoke will start pouring out of the computer". Works every time.

I find advertising offensive enough without having to have the image of a woman vomiting all over her husband because he looks at porn so vile that she's violently nauseous. Not to mention that this kind of thing has ended a lot of marriages... so I don't think a woman who caught her husband looking at (for instance) underage porn is going to find this ad so charming.

    Sorry if that makes me too uncool. I really am, because I hate being that nerdy poindexter guy who ruins other people's fun. I just don't think this demonstrates marketing creativity characteristic of a multi-billion dollar corporation. It looks like an out-take from Van Wilder... and there's a time and place for that *****.
