And that it doesn't require a 45-digit code before drinking. - jpjandrade, on 11/05/2007, -15/+478Is that the Regular Basic, Regular Premium, Diet Basic, Diet Premium, Energy, Ultra or Xtreme version?

- ProximaC, on 11/05/2007, -28/+347If it was Apple, the fridge would cost 3x more than a regular fridge, but would be glossy white, super easy to scratch, and you'd only be able to buy groceries from iFood.com
- Thud, on 11/05/2007, -18/+293"I bet they stole the idea from Apple is some way."
Correct, apple juice was invented some time ago. - ejdunphy, on 11/05/2007, -80/+352i wonder if you drink it, does it make you crash?

- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -27/+263It's not soda, it's water. And you are surprised because Microsoft can afford custom printed cans?
- ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -85/+258These jokes are getting really old.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -30/+199I wonder if it has bugs in it.

- VhaidraU, on 10/12/2007, -43/+160@airwalkery2k
Actually Apple used to hand out free bottles of water at the genius bar of Apple retail stores. Microsoft was trying to make a clear bottle of water to compete, but it turned out as a tin can. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+107does that come in jugs?
i crack myself up. - PixieLittle, on 10/25/2007, -2/+97The first 6 versions had no tabs.
- CKnight, on 10/12/2007, -3/+88if it stops fizzing, close it and open it again.
- Ulvund, on 10/12/2007, -29/+109Fridge is free, but can only hold one brand of drinks.
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -14/+92Microsoft has stocked free sodas, water and juice for employees and visitors for years. They were doing this back in 95 when I worked there.
- cybrjoe, on 10/12/2007, -6/+72What the hell is an "Entourage server"?
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -8/+66No, we have a competent IT guy.
- hypnotizd, on 10/12/2007, -10/+62Do you have to agree to a 45 page EULA before drinking?
- Sneakernets, on 10/12/2007, -14/+58just as I finished drinking it, I had this GenuineAftertaste(tm) in my mouth. it also made my tongue blue. I can't taste anything either.
must be that win32.soda virus. - utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45Reminded me of the Windows Vista Soda:
http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=windows%20vista%20soda&w=all&s=int - meshman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+37Instructions:
1 - Insert coin
2 - Select product
3 - Take product
Note: If the product you selected was not dispensed, please refer to the 300 page document on the side of the machine. You can use this as a guide to the football field sized room we keep the vending machine API reference documentation in. If this doesn't solve your problem, call our support number. For a mere $245US, we can reccommend several 500 page documents that link to 200 other 600 page documents. These are all whitepapers so they don't actually show you how to do anything. If all else fails there are plenty of message boards, newsgroups and blogs that can help with your problem. Try visiting forums.microsoft.com. There you can post your problem where any number of people can post in reply, "I'm having the same problem, have you found a solution?". Or you can try the Microsoft newsgroups where our newest graduates can tell you you're using the machine wrong and give you a much more complicated method of achieving your goal. After you've exhausted all possible avenues to retrieve your product, you can call a Microsoft support representative ($245US) and they will place another order for you.
Then you will need to call our order fulfillment department to have your order confirmed. Once you recieve confirmation, call our Activation department to have it activated. Once you've received confirmation that your item has been activated, call out product fulfillment division to have the product shipped to you. Once you recieve the product, enter the UPC number from the side of the can into our authorization system. Please note that you will not be able to open the can until you have done this. Once you've been authorized to open the can, the expiry date will have been reached.
To order a replacement can, call out support department. ($245US). They will place your replacement order. Once you receive confirmation of this order, you need to call... - kame, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32"Do you have to agree to a 45 page EULA before drinking?"
Yes, but the EULA is printed inside the can. - Blarion, on 10/12/2007, -8/+34Do you have to call Microsoft and activate each can?
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33That's certainly not Open Source.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCola - CraigJ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31That is actually Talking Rain water - I don't think it is soda. MS keeps all the departments stocked with free water, V8, juice, etc. I really don't like MS products but they to treat their employees well...
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27Entourage is an add on for Exchange to support mac clients on your network.
- jpjandrade, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Yeah, except that they only sell you the ingredients and the mixing machine, you have to mix them for yourself, which is ultra easy and there are lots of people willing to help, but when people who don't drink Linux soda hear that they have to mix their own soda, they freak out and start shouting about how bad Linux soda is.
- 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -6/+29Clippy: "You look like you are trying to take a drink, is that my cousin you are drinking from?"
- HiddenForce, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26@rasterbator:
"It may not crash, but it will make you gassy."
Don't you mean bloated? ;)
At first, before clicking the link, I thought this would be a Photoshopped parody of a Vista-like soda can with various "features" built in (basically, many of the comments here [flashy interface, BSOD blue, etc.]). I never expected an ACTUAL Microsoft/Windows-branded can.
As an aside, one thing that worries me is that Microsoft finds it necessary to have "Natural" printed on the can. - aamer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25it's just sparkling water. i work at ms and am drinking one right now.
- dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22It's Talking Rain WATER not Soda. Talking Rain is a smallish company based out of Washington, MS provides these for free to their employees and therefore probably go through thousands of cans per day as it's much more popular than their other offerings such as soda and juice. Not too surprising they get their own custom cans. They also have custom MS/Starbucks coffee cups, AMAZING!
Edit: CraigJ beat me to it. - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -11/+29No, that's at Apple conferences.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24"The first 6 versions had no tabs." is the only decent joke on this page, grats
- Ryosen, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22@cybrjoe
I think it's sort of like an Outlook Express server... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+32Microsoft Soda: A vague apple flavor, but overall a highly complex and refreshing beverage.
Apple Soda: Stale and unchanged in years, a "New Apple" came out a while back that got everyone excited, but ended up amounting to little more than inspiration for a few changes to the vastly more popular Microsoft Soda.
Unix Soda: Stale, flat and unchanged in 30 years, it tastes like that's when the can was opened.
BSD Soda: Unix Soda made with cheaper ingredients.
Linux Soda: Three parts BSD Soda and one part imitation Microsoft Soda. For some reason the hint of Apple is missing.
Ubuntu Soda: Linux soda with a dash of artificial green apple flavor. - verifex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19When I was working at MS, it was just "Talking Rain" brand sparking water re-branded with Vista logos. No big deal really, especially since the water isn't really that great. Sparking water is mostly eeeyuch! in my book anyways.
BTW: They have had that "windows brand" sparkling water-in-a-can for many many months now. I think I've even seen other pictures of it before now. - jkdrum, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18The can comes in 3 versions.
The home version is only filled 1/3 of the way up and costs $0.25
The business version comes filled ¾ of the way up and costs $0.50
The Deluxe Version comes totally filled and carbonated. For $1.00
The product can only be poured into a glass that is at least twice its size. The product does not come with nutrition information, or ingredients label since the recipe is highly classified. The material used to make the can itself has been known to absorb disease and other foreign material from the surrounding environment, though Microsoft denies this. Most cans have holes. - saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15That was RC1. The dark blue cans are RTM.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15"There are a lot of academics here as well as Europeans."
I found that pretty funny - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I don't see any ads on the page. That's right, I use FireFox+AdBlock.
- 00Dan, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22According to the TOS on my bottle, it's the only thing I'm allowed to mix with my Microsoft Gin. Apparently, I'm breaking DCMA if I try to use something else.....
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"You have way too much time on your hands....."
The above is just a tiny shred of the experience I've had over the past 5 days when our main Exchange server barfed transistors all over the server room. I waited in queue for support on Exchange for 4 and a half hours. They told me there were 170 people in the queue. Any extra time I have is spent waiting on hold for somebody. (like now) - berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13then you should attend blogger events.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23Zing!
