    1,000,000 is a generous donation, but they'll certainly hit that limit right away.

    What's I'm stuck on is that $1.15 is 8 meals.

    Microsoft needs to promote IE8 and are going to do it regardless so rather than bombarding you with commercials (like Apple) wouldn't it be better to just use that money towards charity and still get the same promotion?

    It's thinking outside the box that works and should be commended.

    A couple cups of soup may cost you a few bucks; if you buy a few thousand gallons of soup, a couple cups of it will be significantly cheaper.
