- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -11/+474I dislike IE8 as much as anyone else..but if downloading it and uninstalling it a few hundred times gets some people free food...i am all for it!
- Xoti, on 06/14/2009, -36/+407Everyone is going to starve
- bennyshoham, on 06/14/2009, -21/+326wow, 24 meals?!?!
- bunk3rk1ng, on 06/15/2009, -5/+169Whatever dude. If it helps people, I'm doing it.
- SamSlater, on 06/14/2009, -91/+249What's with all the digging down of people who think this is a little low from Microsoft?
I'm sorry but if Microsoft wanted to help the hungry they could ***** feed those poor people without putting us on a guilt trip about not downloading. - doshindude, on 06/15/2009, -6/+160Do they take away meals if you uninstall?
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -5/+135Yeah...donating $/food to people who need it...thats so ***** up!
- AboveandBeyond, on 06/15/2009, -40/+169steve jobs sucks, bill gates rules!
- artfiend77, on 06/15/2009, -1/+124WOOOOOOOOSH
- mike42979, on 06/15/2009, -1/+112Im sure they track IP's for dupes
- FlyinRyan89, on 06/15/2009, -4/+114This just in!
Conficker announces it will donate 10 meals to starving children in Uganda for each download of Xmen origins. - batmanz, on 06/15/2009, -3/+87Or this is a very big business and they don't have to do anything. Especially seeing how Bill Gates is giving millions to charity.
I really can't believe people still find a way to be angry at Microsoft for this. - reelskamachine, on 06/15/2009, -3/+86do you have to install ir or just download it?
- deathlip, on 06/15/2009, -2/+75HEY GUYS I'M HUNGRY, START DOWNLOADING!!!!
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -10/+81http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackmail
- Ymeg, on 06/14/2009, -4/+72What's the blackmail?
- weirdo50, on 06/15/2009, -5/+67I'm going to repeatedly install/uninstall IE 8 to give false hope to the hungry.
- Domthedude001, on 06/15/2009, -1/+63Download != Install
- Link459, on 06/15/2009, -8/+67Someone make a bot to do this, please.
- Stiverton, on 06/15/2009, -1/+57Poor guy, I feel kinda sorry for him.
- inactive, on 06/15/2009, -9/+61Download, then uninstall.
- jrm125, on 06/15/2009, -4/+56So essentially, you're saying Microsoft can do no right. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Some of you are completely retarded. - artfiend77, on 06/15/2009, -0/+49Every time I masturbate, someone use IE8?
- Disgod, on 06/15/2009, -1/+50Actually they're guilting us into downloading IE8, not blackmail.
- solid12345, on 06/15/2009, -6/+53If this is low, I guess collecting Campbell's soup labels to support the school is gestapo-like?
- TalahRama, on 06/15/2009, -1/+46*billions
- stuffradio, on 06/15/2009, -0/+44FTA: "Completed downloads"
- bennyshoham, on 06/14/2009, -9/+52exactly, and 3 downloads until now...
- Table16, on 06/15/2009, -5/+47darkNiGHTS:
"but the user interface is very nice"......next post....."I never said anything about the UI looking nice"
wait, what? - pwnsey, on 06/15/2009, -1/+42Someone didn't read the article. It's eight meals per download.
- fnord185, on 06/15/2009, -0/+41The fine print:
"Microsoft® is donating $1.15 per download to Feeding America® up to a maximum of $1,000,000."
1,000,000 is a generous donation, but they'll certainly hit that limit right away.
What's I'm stuck on is that $1.15 is 8 meals. - fangor, on 06/15/2009, -4/+44So, DOS'ing this website would also be a Denial of Sustenance attack?
- gvoakes, on 06/14/2009, -5/+44Canned food rules
- suntzusputnik, on 06/15/2009, -1/+40not cool
- brandon28139, on 06/15/2009, -1/+39I guess I will download it, install it and just not use it unless I have to, just like I do all versions of IE. Atleast this helps the hungry.
- JasonHaley, on 06/15/2009, -5/+42You mean like how Firefox did a similar thing, but for donating rice?
Microsoft needs to promote IE8 and are going to do it regardless so rather than bombarding you with commercials (like Apple) wouldn't it be better to just use that money towards charity and still get the same promotion?
It's thinking outside the box that works and should be commended. - inactive, on 06/14/2009, -4/+40Yeah! ***** M$ for donating! EVIL BASTARDS!
- bloodhound01, on 06/15/2009, -0/+36lol this comment is going to have a digg/bury war.
- str1fe, on 06/15/2009, -4/+38Just go play a half hour of Free Rice instead. You'll get rid of the guilt trip and learn some vocabulary in the process.
http://freerice.com - inactive, on 06/15/2009, -0/+34I don't know about that, but at least Bill Gates publicly donates large sums of money. It might be for show, but at least you know for sure he's donating.
- AraleNorimaki, on 06/15/2009, -4/+36Blackmail is such an ugly word. I prefer "extortion." The "X" makes it sound cool.
- handheldchimp, on 06/15/2009, -1/+32Do they accidentally the meals?!?
- tnoy, on 06/15/2009, -1/+32Giving money to an organization like this is always better than just giving food. They're able to buy significant amounts and get the cost-per-meal very cheap.
A couple cups of soup may cost you a few bucks; if you buy a few thousand gallons of soup, a couple cups of it will be significantly cheaper. - doshindude, on 06/15/2009, -1/+31How is this low exactly?
- po43292, on 06/15/2009, -1/+30Really? WTF man.
- tommythetomcat, on 06/15/2009, -2/+30Man it's sad some of you can't donate a little time and bandwidth to help the hungry. Gimmick or not you should do your part to help those less fortunate.
- bbhill, on 06/16/2009, -0/+28umm. . . I believe the title implied that you would be donating 80 meals. .
- KloroFormd, on 06/15/2009, -2/+29I don't know about you, but I don't find it too bad to upgrade the rendering engine used by many apps like Steam. And if they wanna feed people for me wanting to patch a few (hundred?) security holes, so be it.
- panacean, on 06/15/2009, -3/+29Pretty nice of Microsoft. 8 meals per download is still a lot of money.
- scriptcoder, on 06/15/2009, -6/+32Digg is not your software developer.
