- hypodermia, on 04/12/2008, -5/+41absolutely amazing, with the bird's eye view.
- killbert24, on 04/12/2008, -4/+28I'm glad to finally see something positive about Microsoft in the news.
- PueSi, on 04/12/2008, -3/+24Google fanboy much?
- KRNpro, on 04/12/2008, -5/+25This is why competition is so good. I just cannot wait until Google answers to this
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -5/+21Very cool stuff. Live Maps is at the top of the heap again, even though I'm sure it'll be temporary. I've switched for now, until someone comes up with even cooler stuff.
- carl25, on 04/12/2008, -3/+17they have positive news, just can't overcome the hate. Think this will get buried as well
- norman619, on 04/12/2008, -2/+16Here we go again with the poo pooing just because it's Microsoft.
- thcobbs, on 04/12/2008, -2/+14I'm guessing you never checked out a "bird's eye view"
- Sutarion, on 04/12/2008, -0/+9It worked just fine for me. Firefox 3b4
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -4/+12First I bought a 2nd gen Zune, then a 360, now I'm looking at these Live Maps... great job Microsoft!
It's almost as if there is another completely different Microsoft controlling the .NET, Office, Server, Windows landscape... - shlemielo, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8Well, I live in a suburb of BIrmingham, AL, and I can clearly make out each individual window on my house. This is impressive.
- CoffeeandTV, on 04/12/2008, -4/+12Nice, I'm impressed
- MioTheGreat, on 04/12/2008, -5/+13Microsoft has really been doing a very nice job with most of their Live stuff. I'm impressed.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -3/+10Awesome, I can practically located my apartment in a complex I live in, down here in Hollywood, but I doubt this could be possible for smaller cities.
- mal1964, on 04/12/2008, -4/+11I just called google their are not answering.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+8It seem like the whole Chicagoland are is covered as well, even far-western town that are not even considered suburbs anymore! Very impressive!
- superdog87, on 04/12/2008, -1/+8I live in a small rural community in Mississippi, and I can use birds eye view great!
- jugglingjon, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7did you really even try it? works fine.
- wolferz, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6.... uhm i didn't install anything and it opened fine in firefox 3 beta 5....
- Atomic1fire, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6you cant access those buildings via browser like you can live maps
- rossfly, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6Isn't it amazing how when MS buys companies to further develop, it's called "not innovating", but when Google does it, it's just cool?
- sab0tage, on 04/12/2008, -2/+8Google is still behind from the last Live Maps set of improvements.
The directions it gives aren't as useful (or accurate) as the results I get from Live Maps, although it could be due to the UK data not being as up-to-date as the Live version. - trickyt, on 04/12/2008, -2/+7Gimmicky? Not a chance. I can see my house!
- oblique63, on 04/12/2008, -3/+8buried for implying that things dont 'just work' on a mac...
- Slagtits, on 04/12/2008, -1/+6Mac users are like Catholics, they think the world revolves around them. Get over it, you're just a bit player in a big world
- otw7, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4Damn, this Bird's eye view blows Google maps out of the water
I had no idea - xenoc1de, on 04/12/2008, -3/+7Damn, not too shabby.
- nephilimx, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5C# is a failure?
- plainandsimple, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5You do know that no web mapping service will have complete worldwide updates 24/7, right?
I know there's a few times as well that Google Maps didn't have the latest imagery. Like I checked a few days ago, and there was still 4-5 years old data of a certain section of my town. We're a pretty big town in Texas, and I kinda expected them to be there as well. I checked and Live Maps had a more fair recent imagery. - ddrirc, on 04/12/2008, -6/+10It's disappointing that there is still no support for Opera. I don't care if everything doesn't work 100%, but there should be no reason to block it completely.
- sammykeyes, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4There's support for Safari. It says so right one of the employee's blogs : http://virtualearth.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2BBC6 ...
"improvements...including...browser compatibility (Safari and IE8)" - ducs, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Yes, it's done via airplane.
- Slagtits, on 04/12/2008, -2/+5How do they do the Birdseye view, that is amazing.
- Slagtits, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I agree. Is it possible all the Vista programmers were actually working on this? Just asking.
- HigherLogic, on 04/12/2008, -3/+6Google is the worst when it comes to supporting Opera (and Safari), but yeah, same goes for this. Don't tell me to get IE or Firefox, develop your ***** site to actually work. Lazy ***** developers.
- niviche, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4Very nice. And contrary to what is written above, I just used it with both Opera, Camino and Safari on Leopard.
- trickyt, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2I can make out each window too. On your house. With your sister in the window. Hey why is she doing...oh my go... Impressive A+++++++
- thecheatah, on 04/12/2008, -2/+4"If you click 3D on the view control and nothing happens, make sure that your browser is configured to use Microsoft ActiveX controls."
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -3/+5Works fine on my Mac.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -2/+4How so? By buying Keyhole?
- Jammerdelray, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3better than google maps in some aspects
- HenkPoley, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1I don't think Google buying Keyhole was anything more than a strategic buyout. It was a nice addition to their browser based mapping they were working on. Can't call that cool, neither un-cool. Upmodded you anyways.
- Slagtits, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1Wow, now your talking.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3You will love this.
In the past I could not locate this sign with Google Maps (in the satellite view), but here you can do this just great. Now I can do this with Google too, but it was much easier to get it done with Live Search Maps.
Click on the link below and then on the bird's eye view and see what you get.
http://maps.live.com/?v=2&encType=1&cid=B5A68B254A ... - chriskeyes, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1So I guess Live Hotmail must be very superior, or else Google wouldn't have made Gmail?
- ajaypathak, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1microsoft rocks again
- 4LeggedtriPod, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3Finally works on Safari!!
- danjwray, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2that's cool, however the photos of Edinburgh are over 5 years old in MS, while google is just over 2.
- matroosje, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3Bird View FTW
And in Belgium, maps are 1-2 years more recent than Google's. - mal1964, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1They are or They're or There are.lol
5 hours later, And no one nailed me. -
