- GruntboyX, on 10/28/2008, -110/+1005Holy cow I wasnt expecting that. This will breath some fresh excitement into the windows platform that hasnt been seen for years.
- slapded, on 10/28/2008, -3/+658Does it still have solitare
- soundman07, on 10/28/2008, -23/+432Thats what she said.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 10/28/2008, -78/+445Incredible leap from Vista. Finally, some game-changing changes to the old, clunky interface.
- mdshort, on 10/28/2008, -11/+327Windows 7 seems like a good bandwidth investment.
- MaxMWood, on 10/28/2008, -167/+479First glances and in my opinion is seems like nothing special.
- handler, on 10/28/2008, -39/+308It looks like vista with a different task bar!
- krystalo, on 10/28/2008, -43/+268Wow Microsoft is really kicking it up a notch. I guess it's because with Vista they managed to do all the under-the-hood changes (which obviously broke a lot of things) and now they can finally focus on making ground-breaking changes that will truly improve the user interface of Windows.
- mrsteve007, on 10/28/2008, -12/+206Also, they claim Windows 7 currently runs on netbooks without any trouble.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -15/+203i just want to watch porn with it =/ please just make my computer boot up directly to firefox with 4 tabs: youporn - redtube - pornhub - xvideos. kthxbai
- greenvortex, on 10/28/2008, -6/+176This should be Microsoft's goal with Windows 7. Get the bloat out so that it can run on EXISTING computers without having to upgrade the memory and video.
- abbathdoom, on 10/28/2008, -2/+154Does it have achievements?
- fandyboy, on 10/28/2008, -2/+153XP was 2000 with a new look.
- rotts, on 10/28/2008, -14/+156this looks like a KDE theme on linux.
- AboveandBeyond, on 10/28/2008, -3/+141it will be called Solitaire Touch.
- dragossh, on 10/28/2008, -11/+142I'm sure many Windows users find Windows 7 impressive. What's wrong with implementing good ideas?
Oh, and smart folders were part of WinFS/Longhorn, so I think Apple copied MS with this one. - surferjoemaui, on 10/28/2008, -17/+1441 Lust

7 Pride - dragossh, on 10/28/2008, -5/+129Windows XP was 2000 with a few interface mods. And people call that the best Windows release ever.
Vista was about changing the architecture, 7 is about enhancing the user experience. - Lynxist, on 10/28/2008, -9/+121That squared off taskbar and quick launch stuff really reminds me of KDE, but I would have to test drive this bad boy to see if it's stable and what not; from thew screenshots you can only see the new features, not experience them.
- yuanzhoulu, on 10/28/2008, -8/+110no, it will be called
Microsoft (R) Solitaire (TM) Version (SM) XP (TM) Copyright (C) 2000 (TM). - BradBrown, on 10/28/2008, -17/+117I know what you mean. I was going to switch to OS X, but after seeing those screenshots, I'll remain with Windows 95 until 7 comes out.
- solid12345, on 10/28/2008, -20/+119Bleh, i hate the Apple fanboys but goddamn Microsoft, what incentive is there for me to upgrade? I am on XP 64 and even Adobe CS4 will run with flying colors, some of us don't want a candy-coated OS, make our productivity faster not more beautiful (or in this case ugly in my opinion)
- Rikushix, on 10/28/2008, -3/+102Ironic considering his name is "MaxMWood"
- roctimo, on 10/28/2008, -0/+87Refreshing honesty.
- Hercules, on 10/28/2008, -15/+96Vista works great for me, and if the UI changes are as nice as they seem, I'm on board.
I already have over 1200 hours of uptime with Vista, and if I didn't have to do Windows Updates, I'd have even more.

What, slow as hell? - dullnation, on 10/28/2008, -8/+85Sorry to tell you like this but Microsoft don't work for you exclusively.
- iofthestorm, on 10/28/2008, -6/+81Wait, what? Installing libraries to use new software is bad? Idiot.
- LANjackal, on 10/28/2008, -47/+122Pretty amazing and exciting developments, good job :)
- dylio, on 10/28/2008, -15/+86Vista is fast with a computer built within 3 years. It's fine. Also, it's far from clunky.
Not a Windows fanboi, but I use it and enjoy it. - ZippyV, on 10/28/2008, -5/+76The NT kernel is actually one of the newest kernels in desktop OS land.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 10/28/2008, -1/+70I'm not going to bury you because that's your opinion, but you /can/ disable the transparency.
- FLarsen, on 10/28/2008, -5/+73Do you have some issues or something?
- Elranzer, on 10/28/2008, -1/+67Microsoft® Solitaire™ Version²³ XP™
Copyright © 2000 ™ - dfross, on 10/28/2008, -1/+64If you can't work out how to do that in 95/98/2k/xp/vista, you need to spend less time wanking and more time learning.
- BadAsh71, on 10/28/2008, -9/+71It looks like a mix of the Mac OS X dock and the one in the old KDE... you remember, the one that was abandoned for a newer, more fresh look :)
- flowctrl, on 10/28/2008, -1/+62lol
- lxWyndxl, on 10/28/2008, -59/+118So...basically... it's Vista with a new look...
- shrubbery, on 10/28/2008, -91/+148so the new taskbar is basically the mac os x dock, right? single, drag-able icons. sub menus of open windows and common tasks. the same thing with the desktop and window "peek". i like mac os x, and i have to use windows, so i welcome anything that makes windows act more like the mac, but at some point you'd think they'd just either try to license patents from apple or just straight up rip them off and get it over with. they're always trying to shoehorn the good ideas on top of the garbage they've already created, and the end product comes out unusable every time.
- mrsteve007, on 10/28/2008, -0/+55They say it currently runs well on a 1ghz proc and 1gig of ram netbook, and are trying to get it to run on a lesser system.
- starslinger72, on 10/28/2008, -5/+59no but they fnially added "arrange by penis" to the list
- MAGZine, on 10/28/2008, -4/+57Mac did patent their little menu bar, didn't they? Windows is taking their own direction, though.
It's a good idea - and it's not like Mac didn't take ideas from Windows. You may hate the fact, but it's true. - slapded, on 10/28/2008, -1/+53you forgot to trademark the period
- lowtolerance, on 10/28/2008, -0/+52pornbuntu?

Windows NT 7 - pedershk, on 10/28/2008, -3/+53You should watch the keynote at microsoftpdc.com (day 2) then, since Sinofsky actually DEMONSTRATED 7 on a Netbook with 1Ghz processor and 1GB RAM.
- ryleyleckie, on 10/28/2008, -0/+50nerd fight, go
- bbtweb, on 10/28/2008, -13/+62and still, no new file system that has been promised since before vista...
- tpfaff, on 10/28/2008, -0/+48Well if it runs on a netbook, I wouldn't worry about it.
