- maledin, on 10/11/2007, -26/+72What, exactly, is so bad about the Zune?
Is it just because everyone doesn't have one? Honestly, the Zune is just as or more capable than the iPod (though it's missing some features, for now), yet people like you somehow still have a massive need to hate on it.
Although I've been using Apple products my entire life, I may opt for a version 2 if the 6 G iPod doesn't come soon enough. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+47then you need new friends
- deuceswilde, on 10/11/2007, -8/+44So the Zune is superior to the iPod in every way... except for all the ones you mentioned. I have to say your argument isn't compelling.

"What's next? Windows Vista Halo 3 Edition?"
Pretty much sums up the bastardization process. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -3/+32Well, its better looking than the Simpsons Xbox, anyway.
- colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -9/+35"You guys bashing the zune have probably never gotten to try one out before."
I tried it out once. It felt like a cheap piece of plastic with a crappy screen. - tapo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25That's almost a perfect summary of digg, but you forgot one thing...

- Nick22, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21@deadbaby, Im sorry, but its just really gay (as in, literaly gay) to pick on someone over their shoes (unless they are pink or something)

Doesn't that basically prove that there is no new Zune coming? - tsctsc, on 10/11/2007, -9/+19Ditto. Halo bored me to death.
My definition of fun isn't moving at a snails pace and turning like the Titanic. Not to mention the giant hit boxes to accommodate the horrible inaccuracy of analog sticks. - SPARTACVS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11"@Scheissen
No, I am referring to Halo 1. I have never played Halo 2, due not caring about it after playing the ***** storm that was Halo 1.
Seriously, play some FPS' on the PC, with a 2000DPI mouse, for awhile. Then, try to go back to playing Halo. Good luck."
No, you're talking about Halo 2. You mention huge hitboxes to make up for inaccurate analog sticks, and yet Halo 2 was the one with hitboxes... in Halo 1 when you used the pistol your shot would only count as a headshot if the bullet actually hit the character model's head. This is besides the fact that Halo 2 also had twice as much autoaim (face it, you need at least SOME for a controller, but Halo 1 had very little), and magnetism on bullets and rockets.
I honestly don't care if you're a big PC gamer, I prefer Half Life 2 with my 1600dpi mouse to Halo 2 as well, but you're a biased idiot if you think Halo 1 was a "*****". - euro22, on 12/17/2008, -1/+10Comment got ***** up and ctrl+z isn't working. Please digg down this comment.

Who cares? People don't use the full name of the products they use. I'd just say, "Vista and a Zune". - Jerk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10"Wish I could have shown you some pictures of the box, which is emblazoned with Master Chief, but it was all hidden behind thick glass."

- BugMeNot2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6In my opinion, Halo is popular because it was, at the time, one of the few good console FPS games. It was easily accessible, had a theme people liked, and was hyped quite a bit. There were other fantastic FPS games on the consoles before Halo, such as Goldeneye (which sold over 8 million copies), but some games, such as Goldeneye, never received sequels. Halo, on the other hand, did, and since many people enjoyed Halo, they bought Halo 2, continuing its presence in the gaming world. And those who enjoyed Halo 2 will probably buy Halo 3 if they have an Xbox 360.
Personally, I think PC FPS games (Unreal Tournament, Quake, Tribes, Counter-Strike, etc.) are a million times better. - specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8"More halo crap, I would seriously beat the ***** out of anyone who uses that crap in front of me"
^that was what I was thinking before actually seeing the design. But now that I saw it, it's not that bad. - quiksliver, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Halo single handedly saved the xbox 1 and if you were gifted an xbox or bought one, this was really the ONLY game for a long time that you could play or that was worth your time, which is where the fanboyism comes from...
but yes, HL2 was 1000x better than Halo and I can't wait for episode two :D - tektalk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6And the sick bastards at microsoft will consider producing these in a small quantities in an attempt to squeeze more sales.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I love playing games on my 1.5 inch screen Cellphone, and 2.5 inch screen iPod. Your point?
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Actually, with exception to the iPod, Zune outsold almost all of the other companies (Sony, Samsung, etc) combined in the last quarter.
Plus in NYC I've seen quite a few Zune's popping up to my surprise.
Of course, its not going to even approach Apple's marketshare any time soon. - RavenG4, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7I actually loved playing around with this Zune they had at Target to test. If Zunes worked with iTunes, I would totally buy one. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
- f3l1x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3...With a (slightly) better storyline and none of the limitations imposed by the xbox at the time.
- Zbug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This makes me want a Half-Life iPod in the same sort of fashion. Have they figured out a way to change the background of a 5G yet? It's one of things that's been holding me back from getting one.
- zetsurin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Wow, now that's absolutely gay.
- c0d3z3r0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I would use the zune if it worked on Mac OS X.
If they just enable it so you can use as an external drive in Linux or Mac it would be fine.
Other than that I have to use an iPod since it works with Mac OS X - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4inkswamp,
Selling like crazy??? Are you insane? MP3 players as a consumer electronics product group are dying. Last Christmas the disastrous sales of mp3 players portends certain demise for the product group in general. MP3 players continue to be THE least popular consumer electronics item. The Zune was a failure not because of ipods, but because Microsoft misread the market in general(I think the product group was hallucinating to the effects of the Jobs reality distortion field). When you compare sales of ipods, to cell phones with mp3 players built in, there really is no comparison, Apple, as it turns out is culturally, and economically insignificant AGAIN. For example, toasters and digital cameras are still much more popular consumer electronics devices.
To understand the mp3 player market, you don't look at who apple beat, you look at the players that CRUSHED apples hopes of ever becoming a relevant company. They were Motorola and LG. The sales were such an overwhelming failure for apple to remain relevant we saw that disastrous attempt to hype of the iPhone last January.
By Jobbs own admission, if the iPhone is not an overwhelming success beyond anyone expectation (1% market share) Apple will shutter their doors and Wall street will sell off the parts of the company. The current Apple market valuation is a function of people who know nothing of the consumer electronics, speculating that Apple will somehow reverse their disastrous fortunes and prevent the companies impending demise. - cdtoad, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5But at the end of the day it's still a Zune. You and someone in the next state might get close enough one day while driving 65mph in opposite directions and your zune will beep indicating someone near by has a zune... causing you both to swerve out of control.
- echolalia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Or how about a black Zune with a few decals and a halo 3 picture set as the background?
- mattsuey, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10@ shorties "does not have all the features of iTunes (Hello smart playlists!). "
Zune does have smart playlists. Right click on playlists heading and select "create auto playlist" and check one complaint off your list. Now about podcasts... - TheRealDeal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Garbage.
- tokyopimp, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Is the Zune such a turd if it didn't have the company Microsoft behind it? For instance, if this was called the Sandisk Zune would their be as many Anti-Zune articles on Digg as their were because MS is behind it? Probably not. We know their are a lot of Apple fanboys on Digg, and we know how anti-MS apple fans are.
I feel the Zune is a good competitor to the iPod, and that I don't understand why MS didn't just make the Zune work with WMP11 instead of making the Zune Marketplace. I think once MS gets the software right, and does a second gen Zune, the iPod will finally have a real competitor. - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@Computer kid
As of last month, it does run Linux. Its been hacked. - iFox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Halo was supposed to be a Mac game! >O
- waterdrop, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I went to the mall the other day. When I was in Best Buy, there was two teenage kids walking out the door with brown Zunes in their hands. When I walked into Circuit City, there was an older guy (mid 40s?) talking to a sales rep about the Zune.
- colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"I hear the Zune's screen kicks ass."
It's larger, but the contrast ratio/brightness sucks compared to the iPod's screen. - withoutamartyr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What the *****? They call that a special edition design?
Give me a silver sharpie and I'll come up with something just as good in 5 minutes. - Scheissen, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7^You are talking about Halo2. Play Halo and you'll understand why Halo2 had so many sales, because we were expecting so much more and got a game designed for the mass 10 year olds.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I don't own a zune, i have used one a few times doesn't seem that bad. I had hoped someone would "hack" the zune by now, and put linux on it so we could use real wifi. Then i will get one =)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6wait these are going on sale?
anyway, i cant wait for zune 2.0. ive been holding out on a mp3 player for a while, and the next zune should be feature filled. - chi1thook, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Halo 2 was perfect. The story was good and was interwoven well with the gameplay. Are we expecting too much for Halo 3.

You dolt, It was a hypothetical statement to get the point across that he likes the hardware but not the back end services. You really need to kill yourself now. I don't see how you can provide anything useful to anyone so stop wasting resources and rot in the ground. If your really lucky someone or something will have a need for fossil fuels in a million years and you can finally find a use for yourself as someone's fuel. Until then, good luck as fertilizer. Twit. - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4For Podcasts and the Zune, use FeedYourZune (its powered by FireAnt) for it. It works incredibly well. It even comes with Diggnation and The Show with ZeFrank built-in as a feed.
- gfnw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Halo was a decent console FPS. Problem is, to most who've played any of the major PC titles, it's nothing special. Especially after UT2004 came out and did everything the much lauded Halo multiplayer did, and more, and did it better.
I'm not gonna sit here and say it's a bad game, but in my opinion it's way overhyped. There are many equally as good, or superior, FPS games that get no-where near the attention that Halo does. Hell, there are many games in general that could do with that attention, it's quite sad to see games like Dreamfall and Psychonauts get outsold by budget titles while Halo sells millions at launch. It's been kinda nice to see that Gears of War stole some of Halo's thunder, Bungie will have to come up with something better than last time if they want to beat that for single player at least, and with UT3 on the horizon, let's hope they pull something special out with the multiplayer as well.
I know I sound like a typical anti-Halo fanboy at this point, but I really do hope that Halo 3 is a fantastic game. I want Bungie to pull the boat out and deliver a game that stands up to the competition on it's own merits, rather than the fact that "it's Halo ZOMG". -
