- DeathfireD, on 03/31/2009, -2/+35APRIL FOOLS!!!
- jaygeeze, on 03/31/2009, -0/+23You have to read the alt and title tags of images, it's awesome. Best one was a link going to Mixx, and the title tag reads: "Some social media site that isn't Digg. Whatever."
- mb309, on 03/31/2009, -3/+26There's one born every minute.
*Looks at calendar* - MikeSD34, on 03/31/2009, -4/+23Definitely.
I hate this arms race where people post before the 1st to beat everyone to the punch and make their jokes seem slightly more real. Soon we'll be seeing April 1st jokes in January. Talk about jumping the ***** gun. - TrevorPace, on 03/31/2009, -0/+17Lol at the Javascript performance graph.
- jggube, on 03/31/2009, -0/+11The alt tag on the JavaScript performance is funny, "Do not ask about what units or methodology was used. Just trust me."
- wideawakewesley, on 03/31/2009, -2/+12As dafin0 said, IE has had addons for years, however, if IE can implement FF addons that'll be a great way to shore up it's user base.
- zebrapoo, on 03/31/2009, -3/+13That's a lot of potential.
- fatabbot, on 03/31/2009, -16/+25This is THE web browser i've been dreaming of!

April Fools
==========
Am I the only one who saw the Google ad for Google Chrome ? xD
--
Server Side code decompiler... my ass
Mixx source code :
<?php
function frontpage(){
if ((preg_match('/cats/', $title)))
{
$promote = true;
}
else
{
$promote = false;
}
?>
----
If you don't understand PHP, the source code means that every article with 'cats' in its title would be promoted

Mike Chelly: [Pauses to answer a call from his iPhone] XD - dafin0, on 03/31/2009, -2/+11i know this will get dugg down by all the IE haters but IE has ad addons had for years now,
sure there isnt as many as firefox but there are still heaps. for gods sake it even has a ad blocking program! - rieuwa, on 03/31/2009, -0/+8Very amusing.... If only.. If only...
- Zelf24, on 03/31/2009, -8/+16Buried for early April Fool's Day FAIL...
- seedsofwar, on 03/31/2009, -0/+7i loled at server-side code decompiler.
- Frexxia, on 03/31/2009, -0/+7I liked this:
Internet Explorer has always been the leader of executing client-side scripts, but that didn’t stop Microsoft from continuing its thirst for excellence by including a completely new JavaScript engine called JSE, which stands for JavaScript Speedy Engine. - joeleslie, on 03/31/2009, -2/+9"Even with the successful recent release of Internet Explorer 8"
I would hardly call it successful. - nawill81, on 03/31/2009, -2/+8Just because its not April 1st in your timezone doesn't mean its not somewhere else...
Edit, hit the wrong reply linke, but w/e. - ilmickeyli, on 03/31/2009, -3/+9Hey, you're early!
- lilmentor3, on 03/31/2009, -0/+6never mind. its April 1 in some other countries. but you got me there. :) Adblock plus on IE! sweet
- godsdead, on 03/31/2009, -0/+6haha "Server-side code decompiler" That made me lol
- stoanhart, on 03/31/2009, -1/+7Well damn it!
It took me all the way to "Server-side code decompiler" to realize this must be a joke - too good to be true. A little early for April first, though. - dave122, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5They had me for awhile, damn you smashing - this was about to make my day :(
Well played. - Quick2822, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5I still use Netscape Communicator -- should I upgrade to this new IE 8.1? It looks great!
- jameson5, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5This one totally had me until the comments.. I'm way too gullible :)
- svivian, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5@ the idiots complaining about the date - it *was* posted on April Fool's day. End of story.
- FyberOptic, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4I knew this was fake before I ever realized the April Fools part of it. Microsoft won't have full CSS3 support for a long while, going by their track record. Nor will it ever, ever, ever support Firefox extensions.
A new Javascript engine isn't an outlandish proposition though. The talk recently was that they would replace the whole rendering engine too, which of course everyone twisted into the headline "MICROSOFT KILLING OFF INTERNET EXPLORER" etc. People just eat anti-Microsoft ***** up these days. - svivian, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4The world does not revolve around America or whatever country you're from. It *was* posted on April Fools... in Kiribati.
- Metalcard, on 03/31/2009, -2/+6And here I was, all happy IE wasn't going to suck so much anymore...
- falstaff, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4Had me going until the server-side decompiling. At least the rest of the list would be possible, if highly unlikely. But that would be the single largest security failure in the history of the web.
- Palaceguard, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4And soon there will be 9.0
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -2/+5Almost took this seriously. Very funny.
- v4vishal, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3They had me till first 3/4 features. Then it became just too good to be true.
- IKORKYI, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3probably trying to get maximum exposure peaking on april 1st
- kerouac906, on 03/31/2009, -5/+8At this point, whoever isn't using Firefox. or an alternative browser, is just plain stupid.
- MightyUpsetter, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3If title = cats, promote.
- GamerX, on 03/31/2009, -2/+5Thanks for the offer but i'll have to pass
- svivian, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3Why would you bury it because of that? Moron.
- psjohnso, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2The smashingmagazine.com server is located in Germany and I do not believe that it is April 1st there yet. But yes I find this hard to swallow.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2firefox is the new ie
- tattertech, on 03/31/2009, -2/+4A little too late? You mean for the majority of users that still use IE?
- PixlNinja, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2I need all those features on firefox too !!!!!! :D LOL... I am still in Disney Land :D
- svivian, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3Congratulations, you've posted the only two that were remotely funny.
- jaygeeze, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2if title string contains 'cats', since is a regexp. So, "I like cats" is a match, and evaluates to "true".
- antdude, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Not everyone on Earth. :P
- bkemper, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Are you people really that dim? Of course this is an April Fools day joke, one day early. How gullible to have to be to believe this?
- rwitoff, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2buried for combining "successful" with "Internet Explorer" in the description
- tjr88, on 03/31/2009, -7/+8Looks like i could be converted. Well on a pc anyway
